The past four days we've had one of the worst ice storms I have ever seen. Blossom weathered it all fairly well, until I went out day before yesterday (day 3 of the storm) to find it was 30*F and raining !!   bear_shocked  bear_angry  bear_sad

Luckily Auntie Nancy had sent Blossom some of Knight's (her own dales pony) hand me down rugs, and one of his smallest ones fits ~ sorta.  We'd all ready had a play day where she seemed to be keen on them, but had a bit of a panic attack over the Hug enclosure of the blanket.  It sorta wraps round the chest and is secured with elastic snaps, so that it moves with the pony.  I kept a hold of her, and calmed her down, and she was happy to stand about with the blanket on her loose.

The other night however was for real.  With Blossom being that soaked, and it being so incredibly cold, she was doing deep body shivers all over while tucking into her teatime bucket.  I towelled her off as best I could and chucked the blanket on, shoving hay between the blanket and Blossom for extra wicking and warmth.  One more check before bedtime, and she was still wet underneath, but warming and the shivers had stopped.

This morning, she's much drier, and seems to be getting along well with her rug ~ yippeee

The specs in the pics are itty bitty snowflakes coming down.  Sorry for the flash, it was still fairly dark out...

Its a bit big, but it keeps her warm and dry.

After I'd clipped the blanket shut and gotten the hay underneath, she promptly went out...in the rain, and rolled three times.  Much to her disgust, and my relief, the blanket stayed in place, and self rights itself.  Its taken her just a little to cotton on to walking with the front closure.  At first she tried to open the chest by grabbing it in her teeth and pulling....  bear_tongue  At which point the elastic snapped the chest back into place!  It didn't get attempted more than once  bear_laugh

She's a smart girlied, though.   After the rolls, and the the attempt at removing the chest enclosure, she quickly realized she was warming and hasn't harmed it since.   bear_thumb

Awe nice and cozy  .  We use calf coats on some of our new borns when it is very cold.  It's amazing how well they work...not to mention how cutre they look in them.

Well that is sweet. Nice pictures. I bet Blossom and the coat will be new best friends...
