And it's a darn good thing I love roller coasters!

Let's see..... last you all knew my hubby accepted a new job in Maine, in the same town as my folks and not far from his parents and our summer home. It was with a company that has a great reputation and all seemed like the perfect opportunity!

Well, a month later the company, or this particualr facility in Maine anyway, has turned out to be VERY disfunctional and has Henry very upset and disappointed. The actual job responsibilities were nothing like what was described in the interview and the people are all very cold, unfriendly sorts so he's getting no help as the new guy and has no where to turn. His boss is too busy passing the buck and he's learned that no one lasts more than 6-12 months there. Big Surprise but of course you don't learn these sorts of things at an interview! To make things worse we've been having a really hard time finding a house and no bites on ours. So, today, Henry and I, Henry especially, made the very tough and disppointing decision that this wasn't going to work and he resigned. bear_ermm

So, now he's unemployed, the house is coming off the market and can be messy again (not that we live like pigs but having to constantly keep it clean for showings, etc. was becoming a pain!) the dogs are happier than pigs in mud to have Daddy home all the time and me... well.... I'm sorry for him that it didn't work out and disappointed that we won't be closer to my parents where Dad still isn't doing too well. BUT.... I really wasn't excited about packing and moving and I have some big business plans in the works that will be much easier to put into motion if we stay where we are! (Can't tell, please don't ask!) My parents will move nearer us in the next year or two I'm sure.

As so many of you have PM'd or emailed asking what's going on and I haven't responded until a definite decision was made on the job I figured now I'd catch you all up at once!

In the midst of it all my Grandmother survived the pneumonia she had over Christmas and has been moved to a nursing home permanantly. Her dementia has advanced rapidly, due in part to being in unfamiliar surroundings and a traumatic experience in the hospital. If any of you have watched a loved one go through the stages of alzheimers it's heartbreaking and very dificult on the family. We'll get through it tho'. My grandfather went through this too and it was even worse as he got very violent. Wonder if I can start taking "anti-alzheimers" medication NOW????!!!

So... I'm focused on organizing my bear shows right now. And making bears! It feels so good to be doing that!

My dear friend and I (she's also my next door neighbor and mother of the two greatest little boys in the world) went out for a celebratory hot fudge brownie sundae tonight!!! Yummm! bear_tongue She's so glad we aren't moving!

Now I wait in line for the next roller coaster ride!!!! bear_laugh

Dear Daphne: I am so sorry it did not turn out well for your husband. Life is too short to be miserable in a job. It is a third of your life. I think the plan to have your parents move closer to you is a good one. But your post sounds very potomistic and you have plans. Can't wait to see what they are. But you will tell us in good time, I'm sure. I hope the rest of 2007 is everything you and your husband hope for....

Gee Daphne, you don't have to go through packing and moving - that's worth celebrating by itself!  I still haven't got my studio completely unpacked and I just keep working amongst a bigger and bigger mess.

I am sorry that you won't be closer to your parents, though.  Hopefully they will re-locate closer to you.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

                                   hugs,

Daphne I am sorry that the job was not as your husband had expected. I hope he can find work soon and that he gets a real good job where he can be happy. A job which you hate and feel uncomfortable in is no good to anyone. Let your hair down and have fun in your new found freedom, I know I would, I hate moving house, too stressful! I hope all goes well in the future.

Things often don't work out for a reason. Sounds like you're still on track, albeit a roller-coaster track.

Oh gosh, Daphne . . . I don't know whether to cheer or boo.  I'm sorry Henry's job didn't turn out better, but one can't stay in an environment like that and continue to be a happy person.  But I'm glad that you don't have to go through the drudgery of packing for a move.  You've had waaaaay more on your plate the last year than anyone needs and I wish for you only good and pleasant experiences for 2007.  Big hugs.

Daphne, can't you live a quiet, boring, uneventful life?  Apparently not  bear_whistle

I'm very sorry the new job was a bust, but I guess better he found out sooner rather than later!  Hopefully this will allow him to regroup and find something much better.  And it's nice that at least you don't have the choas and uncertainty of house-hunting and moving now!

As far as anti-Alzheimers medicine... I think the best you can do is just keep using your brain to make those bears!  Until there really is a medicine for it, all the studies show that really using your brain to think things out over the course of a lifetime really helps.

The best way to do a roller Coaster Ride is to hold your hands up and SCREAM !!!! It may help !!!! Some times things just work out the way they are susposed to. And some day you will know why !!! Hang in there !!!!
