There is a new e bay listing procedure now and it turns out terrible, I had to go back and re do because the first time the righting went off the page and you couldn't read it all so I went back in and cut my sentences off shorter and now it looks really crazy and then there is a big space to go down to my pictures. I don't like this new system . Has any one else had problems ??? Maybe it is just me !!!!

Hi Jody, I got a email yesterday that Ebay would be using a new Selling format, have not used it
yet. I figured it would mess everything up. LOL
I'm sure I will have to rewrite all my html.

Oh my goodness !! I have gone back in 5 times I think, I am just going to leave it alone now !!! I have this piece starting really low so maybe they won't notice that the set up doesn't look good. And it is not easier !!!! Gee. I just use what they have as a set up because I don't know how at this point  to design my own ad. GRRRRRRRRRR !!!! And the spell check doesn't work !!! And I really need it !!!!!  GRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!

Jodi, do you mean that you're typing you Item Descrition in that box?
That's what I meany a few pages ago when I commented on the new Sell Youtr Item format.  It's pretty much the same (which I can say now that I've completed two) the main difference is that it used to take 3 or 4 pages to input anll of your info, now it's all on one or two. I was just uncomfortable in not being able to find all of the options where I was used to finding them.

The only thing I still haven't figured out was the option to comment on Shipping/Ins. It wouldn't accept my choice of 4 (?) options no matter how many times I tried.

It's been reccommended - and I always do this so as to save my original drafts - to create your text first in Notepad (Windows) or Text Edit (Mac), before you upload your auction - no Time pressure that way and you can think about both features w/o forgetting something imortant. These quick text programs will use a plain font but the template you've created will post in your chosen font.

Here's my procedure, which I realized didn't work all that differently once I finished. It's just the first once or twice. (Believe me - I'm one that gets into a familiar rut & doesn't like change!!)

- Arrange my pix on my Desktop so I can see the order in which I want them to appear.
- Copy my last auction's text (from Text Edit) onto a NEW document. (You could use Word, too, but it'd change some of your sentence breaks, etc..)
- Rename this w/the current auction's title/name.
- Insert the url of each photo into the new text.
- Hit SAVE or Save As!!!

- Copy & paste this into the Description window in Sell Y I.
-Now I hit Preview Auction so I can check that every pic uploaded and see if I like the 'flow'.
-Now slide the size of the eBay page to half the width of my screen and open the Text Edit window in the other half.

- Scrolling through the Preview, I replace the text to describe the current bear.
- After every couple of sections or paragraphs I re-paste the new text into the SYI window and check it in Preview.
- A lot of my info remains the same so it's easy to just change out the story or measurements for each auction.
- When I'm finished I Save again as my final draft on my HD and paste into the finalized text one last time into the Descr. window.

Then all of your attention can go to manuevering through the actual set-up of time, price, etc..

My hubby uses Turbo Lister (I used to also) and apparently that's changed too and is impossible.

When I listed Daniel last night I tried to do it with ebay's new format and did find it to be just a condensed version of the old. But I still got frustrated so I signed up with Sellers Sourcebook. After a small learning curve with that I breathed a huge sigh of relief! It really was quite easy and looks clean and all you have to do is simply copy the code the Sellers Sourcebook creates for your pics and text and paste it into the description box on eBay and you are done.

Turbo Lister is for Windows only :o(
I found this out in my free eBay Uni classes a year or 2 ago

Wouldn't you think they'd create a MAC form of Turbo Lister? Guess they figure the majority use Windows. bear_noexpression

Daphne,
I started to use Auctiva for the same reason - really simple and you don't have to use Ebay's page at all.  Auctiva is free, although I don't know how they can afford it.  I'm sure the bubble will burst someday soon, but for now it's easy and no cost.

                                            hugs,

I use Seller's Source book, but am also taking a FrontPage course so I have been using my own html for my last couple of auctions, they are pretty basic, but i like the looks since they are OOAK....Sellers Source Book though is very easy and reasonably priced as well, and they have lots of templates to choose from.

Hugs,
krista

Of course, FRONTPAGE... why didn't I think of that?
I use it for my website. I can be such a block head sometimes.
Oh well, I've paid for 3 months of Sellers Source book, it's not that expensive and looks quite nice.
So now I have 3 months to create a couple of auction templates for myself. (Yeah, like I'll even remember!)

Krista, I hope you are learning something from your FrontPage course. I took one at our local high school's continuing ed program and it was a joke. The instructor didn't like FrontPage so the whole course was full of negativity. I'd already been using FP for 3 years at that point and walked away learning nothing new. And I didn't know much as it was. Very frustrating. I'm still keeping my eyes out for another course by someone else cause I know there is so much I'm missing!

I am doing this one through the military, part of the perks of being married to Navy and used to be in myself!!! they offer courses for Military members and spouses...so far it isn't too bad, but have only taken 2 classes so far...will have to wait and see...the hard part is remembering things when I am home on my own with it!!

hugs,
Krista

Jodi I have to tell you the funniest story I went to my local Hobby Lobby and there is a lady there that I have gotten to know pretty well, she knows I make bears and sells them on ebay, well I am standing while she is cutting my fabric and she gets the biggest smile on her face and says, "Oh I saw your bear on ebay , it is soooooo cute , I told my daughter that you were a customer here and she was so impressed I waited on you." Feeling pretty full of myself I go "Oh which one did you see, the Valentine Storytime Bear or one of my Storytime Baby Bears?" she answered "No it was a beautiful purple one"  "Hmmmmmmmm" I say, "I didn't make a purple one".   She then goes,  "isn't your last name Falk?"  I then explained that this bear was not mine and I agreed it is an adorable bear, because I knew if it was made by you , sight unseen it was a cutie!

I went in again to list something else on E Bay to see and... gee !! I am not satisfied , I guess I will have to expand my abilities , which is limited and try something else !!! I really hate stressing my self but , we will see.

By the way the two items I have on now ( 2-17-07) are listed really at low prices. I am trying to move some older inventory so if any one is interested please go lookie see. I don't do shows so some times I have a few items that don't find homes. I try 2 times to sell on e bay then quit . Sooooooooo just thought I would share.

Jodi, The Pin cushion, is wonderful!!!!!!!!!  , I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!
I have a love /hate relationship with ebay , this piece should have a bid, that is a great price, I keep thinking I have the collector figured out then they change and I realize I am completely clueless.  I will have your back anytime!
I love your work and I am so honored to be in the Jodi club with you!
