OK I just ordered this book a week ago an I got it in the mail today, I sure wish I had found this book a long time ago, I buy my books at a store called "Half Price Books"  I have bought every bear/teddybear/teddy bear making book they have had, and I have poured over them a hundred times. Some I found very helpful, some  not so great and even if the book was not so great I always seemed to learn something new or helpful. But I had went on amazon and saw Nancy Tillbergs book and realizing I did not have it, I ordered it and was excited to get it because I love Nancy's work.  Well I got it today and it is one of the very best bear making books I have ever seen. If you are a new bear maker go out and buy this book!!!!!!! It has so much helpful information that it is a real must have.  And for those that are old timers if you don't have this book, get it too, it will teach you some new great tips!

Nancy Thank you for sharing so much wonderful information!!!!!!!

Krista... I was just gonna say, word for word what you said!  Great minds and all that!

Nancy... were your ears turning red!?  Isn't that what happens when someone is talking about you!   bear_wub  bear_smile   Seriously... it's a great book, isn't it!?  I still flip through for inspiration from time to time when I start getting the itch to do something NEW!  I always recommend it to new bear makers who ask me for book recomendations.

It's delicious, isn't it Jodi!  Happy reading!  bear_flower

I totally agree !   I LOVE this book and refer to it often.  Nancy did a great job at making it easy to understand and includes a ton of great photos.    Thanks Nancy - blush away  bear_thumb

That is a great book. Another book to look for are the ones by Jennifer Laing - especially if you like to make different animals as well as bears.

I know I can't believe I didn't have it, I think why the book store I go to didn't have it, is because they get close out books and trade in's and after pouring over it I can see why no one traded it in, I would never part with this book, you all are exactly right this is a bearmaking bible.  It has it all and is so easy to follow.  I have a niece that lives in Florida and wants to learn how to make bears , I am going to buy this book for her and give it to her when she comes for a visit, I will help her make one and then she'll have this wonderful book to learn so much more!

Nancy, Blush away, this book is deserving of all the praise.

Jodi F,
They have a good number on Amazon.com

I've always had very good luck with Amazon as a first search for books, cds, etc.

It's a great book, very informative.

I got mine on amazon. I bought the brand new version, it was a really good price, not sure if other bookstores carry it but I know amazon does.

*Chrissi you and I must have been typing at the same time.

I agree! I got it when I first got into bear making (it was my choice of all the books out there) and it's the very best!!!

Everyone needs to get it!  Especially if you're new at bear making!

I love Nancy Tillberg's "Teddy Bears with a Past" too...It is the best book to buy if you are going to make real fur bears. But the ultimate book is Nancy's "101 Bears to make"...

Jodi: I think Amazon.com is the easiest place to buy it though you could call Barns and Noble or any bookstore and they can order it for you.

I have both of Nancy's books and find them to be the most helpful books I have. I wish I had had them from when I started making bears..

I bought this book when I first was making bears, and I have to say it was what inspired me to move on to the artist bears.  Thank you so much for that Nancy!! bear_wub  bear_wub Until I read this book, I had no idea what could be done with a teddy bear, and also wasn't happy with the bears I had been making from other's patterns............it really did change my life! bear_thumb

My copy of the book couldn't be traded in even if I wanted to.......it's been well used and abused! bear_grin

I hear you Tracy, mine is dog eared, spine bent, coffee spilt, and flagged....even if I wanted to I am sure nobody would take, unless of course they knew the true value of it and like me ignored all the well loved aspects of it!

I tell you what, anyone who works with real fur , my hat is off to you!!!
When my son was in kindergarten his teacher knew that I made bears and asked if I could make a bear for her out of her Mom's fur coat, her Mom had passed away a couple years earlier, I told her of course I would, never having made a real fur bear ever, I didn't think it would be much different then mohair, she then asked how much it would be, I told her it would be no charge, well she then said she wanted 5 made, one for each sister. I almost fainted, well I tried making it with a regular needle, nope you need a leather needle and the leather was old so it kept ripping when I tried to turn it, and trimming it , I HATED!!!!!! fur kept going up my nose. I have vowed never to make another bear with real fur!!!! But I may give it another try with Nancy's other book.  So all you real fur artists kudos to you
Nancy your black bear is really good!!!!!!

I also own both of her books and have for a long time. Our bear club was also lucky enough to have in the flesh for a class.  She is so very talented in so many different ways and one of the most generous and helpful people I have ever known. Her days are certainly longer than 24 hrs and I don't know how she is able to accomplish so much with working full time and with a young family as well. I am in awe of her many talents

Jodi- most of my business is commisssions from fur coats as I am the only one doing them in my area. It keeps me so busy that I have very little time to do other things I would like to do- which is a good thing as it puts money in the bank!!!!
