OK, first off you need to know two things about me:

Despite what you think about my chattiness and being outspoken on TT, I am NOT an outgoing person... I get shy, ramble and mumble when in person with someone I don't know. Heck... I ramble no matter what!

Second... I'm not a fancy dresser... jeans and sweatshirts, that's me! I own like one or two skirts though I don't even know if they fit anymore!

SO.... with the television station coming tomorrow to film an interview I'm in a panic of sorts. Nothing in my closet looks good and I'm so afraid I'll talk in circles and be so disinteresting that they'll tell me "forget it... you are going to make us loose viewers if we air this!"

I know when the moment comes I'll rise to the occassion and do just fine but in the meantime I'm going crazy!!! It would be great if one of my bears suddenly came alive and took over the interview for me! What a riot that would be!

So, anyone want to come over and be my fashion consultant? Someone else want to be my speach coach?

Signed,

Speachless in my pajamas!

OH Daph, you're not going to get a good answer from me! I'm also a sweats kinda person.

I think mostly your top half would be showing. I would do black pants and a nice shirt with some sort of color that maybe brings out your eyes. I've seen pics of you in a turtle neck and think that look suits you.

I would be stressed too! It's rought they are coming to your house. Good luck

Oh Daphne, just try to stay relaxed - it will all work out fine! Believe me a taped interview is WAY easier than doing it live - they will take lots of tape and then edit it so only a fraction of it will be used. As soon as you start to talk about bears you'll forget all about being nervous or that you are on TV and will just talk naturally. As far as what to wear, I would just dress in something that you are comfortable in and feel good in - if you don't usually wears skirts then don't! There is nothing wrong with jeans and nice sweater or sweatshirt and really much more like "bear artist wear" anyway!  bear_grin Just think of it as being FUN and sharing what you do with people who really want to see this and you will be fine!

Heather, we were posting at the same time - only you must be a faster typer!

Actually, Daphne is lucky that they are coming to the house. I've done it both it ways and it is much more relaxing to be in your own place with just an interviewer and cameraman than in a TV studio with all the lights, audience, cameras you have to be aware of,  and "stiffer" atmosphere. This way is more like someone is just coming over to "talk bears"! Plus in the studio is more likely to be live.

When I think of doing this LIVE I feel SO much better that this is "just" a taping. Thanks, Edie!

A friend of mine suggested I wear whatever a bear artist wears! I had to laugh as that's often whatever I slept in the night before... until like 4pm when I realize hubby will be home soon and I better shower and start fixing dinner!

The reporter said they'd interview me, then take video of my bears, me working, etc. and would be here a few hours. In the end she said they'd air about 7 minutes out of all they record! Putting that into perspective means I shouldn't be agonizing over 7 minutes!!!

Daphne, your day sounds like mine.  It's 2:00 pm now and I'm still in my jammies.   I think jeans and a sweater would be fine for an interview.  I think it would look weird if you were dressed up in your own home.  Did they tell you what colors NOT to wear?  There are certain colors that don't work on TV.  White is one.  We tell our "talent"  not to wear green because we film in front of the green screen.  If they have green dots, it looks like they have holes in them.  But, of course, that won't be the case for you.  I'm a film editor for our local access TV station so I know, they'll make you look good by editing out all the junk.

You're going to do just fine....I just know it!   bear_original Imagine the reporter you're talking to is a friend from Teddy Talk!!  What to wear?  The suggestion of a shirt or blouse in a color that plays up your own coloring and eyes would be the ticket.  What to say?  Once you start talking about your bears, it will all come naturally.

Warmest bear hugs,

Daphne,
You deserve a "Splurge".  You should march yourself to your nearest boutique & buy yourself a new outfit.  If you're in doubt as to what to buy, the girls there will help you.  You don't need anything fancy, just something new & pretty will make you feel really good & will give you that extra boost of confidence.
I'm a totally casuall girl myself, so I know how you feel about the whole "what am I going to wear"?.
Be sure & let us know how it goes.  It's all so darned exciting

OOOO... that's a good idea Denise!  I must admit, I haven't worn anything but jeans and long sleeved T-shirts for like 4 years!  And, I'm even MORE embarassed to admit that my husband usually picks out all my clothes!   bear_ermm  bear_whistle   But.... when I do have to go somewhere, usually do have the ladies in the shop pick out something nice for me.  I swear, I have no idea what looks good on me!   bear_innocent   That's a great idea!

It's too late in the game for clothes shopping. Actually I went to the one little boutique near me and saw NOTHING I liked. Well, I lied, I did and I bought it but it's a mint green spring shirt jacket and will make me look HUGE on TV but I'll wear it to my show next month. That still didn't help for tomorrow.

Patty - you are right, I would look funny all dressed up in my own home! I'm going to give my mother that line the next time she tells me I just can't wear jeans and need to dress up for this!

OK, it's decided on the jeans part.....  as soon as I finish "bear decorating" my studio I'll figure out the top half of me!

Oh dear - I know how you must be feeling.  Actually I don't.  I can't imagine being in a similar situation and surviving.  I can't imagine you being shy though!!!   bear_tongue

Hmm I'm the opposite. I'm not a sweater and jeans type of girl.  Don't worry about your bottom half too much - just make it match as best you can.  I'm sure you'll fing something great to wear

You know you'll be fine when it comes to the crunch - I know you'll be fine!!!! I Just hope you send me a copy of the video!!!!!!!!!!!!! For your bestest buddy down under ???

I WILL be thinking you alllll day tomorrow (even in my sleep)
Best of luck
You go get em champ!

Just wear something that you feel comfortable in and try to be relaxed about everything(says she who has no dress sense and would be panicking at the thought of a camera let alone a film crew  bear_shocked  )At least they can edit all the bits you don't like so that should make it a lot easier.I am sure you will get along just fine bear_thumb

Daphne,

I can totally relate to just wearing jeans and t-shirts all the time. And I too am painfully shy so I can *ust imagine what you're going through...but like everyone else says you'll open up more as the camera keeps rolling then they'll edit it down to the very best footage they got of you. So basically they will show "the best" of you. You know what I mean! So`you shouldn't worry too much, and gosh, you should be so proud of yourself! Doing an interview...that is so exciting and wonderful...and also a great way for the public to be more aware of teddy bear artists and artist bears...and bunnies...and Mimzy's! My husband is taking me to see The Last Mimzy this weekend and I'm so excited that I will get to see your rabbits on the big screen! It's really awesome and I'm so happy for you that you got to have this wonderful once in a lifetime opportunity. Way to go, Girl!  bear_thumb

Good luck with the interview and wear what's comfortable to you!

That's my goal! To be honest, although it's because of Mimzy that I'm having this interview tomorrow, I'd be happy if we didn't even mention Mimzy and just focused on artist bears. The woman interviewing me knows I want to focus on bears so building awareness shouldn't be too much of a problem. I have all the artist bears I own (OK, so it's fewer than I thought... must do something about that!!) displayed so viewers can see not only my interpretation of a teddy bear but those of other aritsts too!  bear_original

I'm afraid I can't eat..... nerves..... one way to drop a few more pounds before the camera puts them back on!

Sorry Daphne, no help here. I would be in a panic over what the house looks like. Not over what I look like.  bear_grin
ALL THE BEST BY THE WAY!!!!!!!!
One tip: ignore the camera... speak to the interviewer and only look at the camera if she/he invites you to say something to the "people out there" sort of thing. OK Possum? HAVE FUN!!!!! I wish it was me   bear_grin

I'm wishing it was you too!!! Anyone besides me for that matter!

I must say the bears look fab! They've all been dusted, brushed, fluffed and given a pep talk ("sit up straight" ... "don't fall over" ... "look at the camera" ...). I realized it's more important that they look their best, not me!  bear_original  bear_thumb

Thank you all for my pep talk!

Hahahah Daphne - I hope Henry's little purple bear will be amongst them and has been pruned (although he was made fairly early on, it might be better if he wasn't here lol  )

You'll be fine!

Hi Daphne,
I don't know how you are going to be able to sleep - or are you?
I think you would look awesome in a soft, cozy blue in maybe a turtleneck.  I like you in turtlenecks as well, but I'm sure you'll find something that's just the ticket.  If you can get a copy, could you put it on Utube, so we could all see it?  Do you know how many people would see it and hear about artist bears if it was on there.   Talk about doing your bit for artist bear promotion!!!!!!  Anyway, you will be just fine - come back and tell us all about it when you're finished.

                                      hugs,
