Chaska, MinnesotaHello Teddy Bear Friends: a few years ago I took a class from a British bear artist named Katherine Riley. I have not seen any of her delightful bears in a long time and wondered if she is still making them and if she has a website. Anybody know her or what has happened to her?
Newcastle, OntarioMichelle, I remember Katherine and seeing articles on her bears, but you're right - I haven't seen anything about her in ages. Hmmmm - maybe she just gave it up.

Yes, I do know Kathy Riley - personally as it turns out. My sister & BIL (who is originally an ex-pat Merseyside man) live in Calif & Irby, Wirral. Kathy lived across the green from them in Irby and Rosemary met her at a craft fair in 1989 or 90 and ordered some etuis from her. Mine sits here un-filled (I've got far too many tools to fit inside!) but she sewed these exquisitely. She'd make a great hand-piecing quilter!
When Kathy delivered her order to Rosemary, she saw the minis Rosemary was sewing. R sent her home with a pattern and some short-pile mohair and US long-pile; a few days later she returned with 3 or 4 new little minis. I have 3 of her first bears.
We both began to make minis in 1990 Kathy went great guns for about 9 years and then dropped out. By the time we all began contacts online she was no longer sewing bears.
Rosemary & David are over there now (London & Paris marathons); if I'd had this question a week or 2 ago, I could've asked Rosemary look her up.
In case you'd like to write to her, I can find her street address in Irby, Wirral UK after R & D return in May - or perhaps one of our Brit friends can access a local directory to find the street number. Assuming Kathy hasn't moved. I'm remembering her DH's name as Dennis but I could be mistaken. Being a smaller villiage, it might even reach her with just that much address!

Carolyn Willis is no longer making teddies, either. I believe she is now married with a family.

Wilmslow CheshireWasnt sure whether to say anything or not but a lot of people in the bear world know already.Carolyn Willis lives round the corner from me .She had an affair with my husband seven years ago this year.She has since had two children with him and stopped making bears when he left me for her. She is Carolyn Peers now ,weird !
I was married to him for 20 years and have two children Sophie 20 and Nick 17.
