Here all this time, I thought I only saw males running with the bulls in Spain, because I thought no woman in her right mind would want to do something so utterly stupid. Seems I was wrong....or perhaps these are women not in their right minds
Now they want an alternative http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070709/od_ … _women1_dc Gee, yeah, I wanna run amid a herd of frightened cattle and get the daylights stomped out of me  That just sounds like sooooo much fun
Do you think its 'city slickers' that have never been around a cow that comes up with this sorta stuff?? And no offence to the city slickers, but running with a herd of frighten cattle through an essential cattle chute is like trying to outrun a City bus....and the bus driver pays no mind whatsoever over the 'speedbumps'
AH! Deb, they must be nuts! I do like watching the bull run on tv just to see how stupid these people are! But yes, I though there would never be a woman doing this. It's crazy.
Cows, the females of the breed are actually docile unless they are in heat, then they may chase a human...but not very aggressively, unlike a bull who will charge a human. They are very dangerous animals, so much so, that in our state it is illegal for a child under the age of 12 to be in th same pen as a bull. When my husband is in a bull pen he always has a weapon in his hand and a way out quickly if needed. It is kind of funny though to see these young bulls try and 'breed' him. Ick.
Oh yes, and they instantly know when you don't have a weapon in hand. A friend of mine had raised a bullock, and went into the pen just this once without his cattleprod. The little bull charged and penned him, horn on each side to the side of the barn!!! After he realized he wasn't instantly dead, he got mad, and punched the bull in the nose, giving him time to get away....and he never, never, ever forgot his prod again. He was still spluttering over it. I daresay because he thought he had some trust with the bullock, but lets face it ~ its a bull!!!
As for the cows, they're exceedingly dangerous with calves at the side. They might not charge a human like a bull will, but I've always kept a wary eye on them. Thank heavens your state has that rule on the books to prevent children from going into the pens with the bulls.
Years ago I remember a neighbour had hand-raised a bull calf - thought it was his friend until the day it stomped the crap out of him - he spent weeks in the hospital recovering...and he was a dairy farmer and should have known better. I would never get between a bull and where he wants to go cause he just wouldn't see you. Not quite as afraid of cows cause you can usually spook them but I wouldn't want them chasing me! Got to wonder at people.

Oh my....silly women (mental eye roll here). There has got to be something better to do than to run with a bunch of cows for goodness sake. What are they thinking? Not much I gahter.
But I have to say, there was a delightful commercial about the famous bull run but instead of bulls it was with squirrels!! Very cleaver....It was very funny....Maybe they should call the director. You know get some pointers before they brave a run with some scared cows... We don't want them to get hurt!!
I live in the middle of the city and I get nervous when someone around me is walking more than one dog!
Seriously...women have nothing better to do????
