Back Road BearsMy brother-in-law and his family live in Concord... right across from that big cemetary on the hill. I LOVE the shops in downtown Concord. It's such a quaint old town with wonderfully unique boutiques, a coffee shop, bookstore, childrens shops, etc. It's a beautiful town.

And what a great tribute with that statue! People who were not afraid to defend themselves and their families and farms in a minute's notice. I wish people would take a quiet moment to remember that.

You're like me in that you appreciate the history and the surrounding beauty. You should come up here sometime. You'd love it. 
Posts: 3,540Emerson and Thoreau were some of my favorite authors as a teen, and I can easily see why they were inspired by their surroundings. Yep, I love looking at old things and seeing the history come to life. I'm always amazed at how clever people were back then.
And, I've been told repeatedly that I must see the East Coast. I've never been....only one layover in New Jersey to swap planes at a dead run, and then Chatanooga Tennessee's the furthest east I think I've roamed over land....oh, and one trip to Florida for DisneyWorld. Mother in law used to live in Connecticut and fell in love with it. We were surprised she didn't settle there. Pity, as then we could have gone for visits, but c'est la vie.
I'm so glad you're enjoying your new surroundings! You sound so much happier there than you did in Kansas
