I just saw that a bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Minneapolis has collapsed at rush hour http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/minnesota_bridge_collapse
I dearly, dearly hope no TTers were involved. So far it sounds as though most have escaped injury. I think the bridge collapsed of its own accord...ie, nothing 'terrorist' linked to it. How scary though
I just saw that too Debbie. I can't even imagine how terrifying that must be for the motorist/families involved. I too hope everyone is o.k.
Just terrible! I don't see how there wouldn't be multiple fatalities.
How terrible! I just heard it on the news in Australia! hoping not too many hurt.
I just heard it too coming home in the car. Prayers going out to the people involved and to the rescuers...
I just saw the news, how awful. This should never have happened, think it was an old bridge but they should be maintained regularly.

My husband is there 3 miles from it, on a business trip !! I called him last night he is ok. Thank GOD those children were ok on that bus !! Looks like 17 dead today .... I fear more to come, allot not accounted for. Dear GOD please be with all of those people and their loved ones !!
How dreadful. we are nly hearing bits and pieces so I hope the losses are not too great.
It could even be a newer bridge that's failed; the standards for safety seem to have fallen in bridge construction. Thinking about it, though, I wonder if it was windy yesterday. If the wind hit the correct resonate frequency for the bridge, it could have set up a motion and caused the collapse.
However, from what I read yesterday, a huge portion just collapsed....which to me sounds like it was not prepared for the weight load that was present on the bridge.
I have to admit, plunging in a car into a river is one of my personal nightmares My heart goes out to all involved in this one.
Tha pictures are amazing that they keep showing on the TV. Just terrible !!!
This is just awful and heartbreaking news. My thoughts go to all the families involved.
