For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
This is what happens to bear makers who buy , buy, buy !!! they have to open a shop.
I have eventually got the garage sorted out, and started on Saturday and Sunday to transfer stuff from my house to into the shop. I still have a few things to sort out- proper shelving for the ribbon.
Of course once I transfered everything out, I had to then re organize the space it left, so its been a busy 2 days. Once all the stock is here, I can sort out the pegboard, and re arrange things.
Shelves are up

Wow... TRULY amazing! Look at that organisation! And the amount of mohair too... it makes me want to throw it in the air and roll in it like money You'll never lose anything again now!
Congratulations Lynette ... your showroom is lookin' good!
Well done!
Good luck with your new shop! It looks very attractive!
Heu, my boyfriend was asking where do you leave your car(s) now????
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
ha, typical male, my car still has its own place- we had 3 garages.
It could not sleep outside it is far to smart for that. I have a Mercedes SLK which hubby gave me for my 50th birthday.Only trouble is it is not a "granny" car as I cannot fit my grandson's push chair into the boot!!!
Lynette
Fabulous!! And so beautifully organized!! Yay for you!!!
Warmest bear hugs, Aleta

WOW! Good for you. I wish we had a shop like that here where we could browse. My highlight is looking for thread and BB's at the local store.
Good for you. Wishing you all the best on your new endeavour.

I cant tell you how much fun I am having ORDERING!!! my bank manager is not sleeping
When I had Doreens Workbasket, I had everything that opened and closed in the shop. Space was limited and I used to keep the batting attached to the ceiling to save on space.
perhaps next year I will organise an International Bear Show. As the collector market is small in SA and you do not get the prices you would get at home for your bears, I would turn the trip into a holiday and show.
Arrive at JHB international airport- bears can be left with me, then travel to the Kruger National Game Park, fly to Port Elizabeth- and travel by car the Garden Route to Cape Town. Either have the show on a wine farm there, or fly back to JHB for the show. Then fly back home.
This way you get the best of both worlds.
Of course a visit to the shop will be included !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any thoughts on this idea and would you be prepared to tackle it ????
Lynette

What a beautiful sales room you have!! I'm so jealous! Will you have a table or counter and chairs along the opposite wall for working, either you or customers? I know a number of shops here that have Open Sewing days: they pay for a certain number of hours or days and use a punch card system to tick the time off the card.
Some use it as a social place as they sit & sew (must be bear work) and some want a little guidance as well. That could be taken advantage of, (using up your time instead of helping sales customers or doing your own work) but it's clearly stated up front - posted in the shop and on the punch cards - that "There may be an additional charge for one-on-one time.
Best wishes for your success and here's a 'virtual' bouquet for opening Day!
it looks great, Lynette! Your helpers are so cute!
