I feel real chatty today, and I only have a 11week old to chat to( others at school and work), So I thought I would start a new post, and find out what others do while making bears,
I listen to my Ipod, I can't creat with out it. I love listening to Robbie Williams, Good Charlotte, Green day, Fergi, black eyed peas. Many more, I like the latest and the early 90s music.
Love to hear what helps motivates you, Music, DVD.
Cheers

I love to listen to music. But often I sew where my children are so the tv is going or i am chatting to them.

Well I've been listening to the new Harry potter book, read by Stephen Fry, whilst I've been sewing for the Hugglets show. Once I've finished listening to that one I'll start from the begining and listen to all the Harry Potter books again. It's amazing how J.K.R writes things in earlier books that become oh so important in her later books. I'm still noticing conections!

JANE- WOW Thats sound interesting, I wouldn't mind that myself never thought of it. Where do you get the Ebooks from? My daughter has all the Harry potter books and I have been meaning to read them, BUT if someone else can reading them for me, Thats even better.

Oh good topic!!   Jane what a fantastic idea, I've got all the books but not the latest one which my husband offered - do you want it....?   BUT I haven't been able to read them as I just haven't got the time, I'd rather sew, but I COULD this way!!!   Where do you get them from?   bear_ermm    Oooh excited now!!!

For me, I can't go a day without listening to BBC Radio 2, listen to it all the time, at both my jobs they have my radios waiting for me, can't work without one, and of course it's constantly on in my studio.....bliss!!   bear_original

I try and make a little time when the kids are in bed.  I like the tv on, but not a programme I'm really interested in so I'm not distracted.  Decided best not put music on - by the time I start sewing I'm usually tired and it might send me to sleep - yes EVEN the gorgeous Robbie Williams  bear_grin

When I manage to work through the day in my bear room, I love total quiet.  I think it is because our house is so noisy when everyone is home - televisions, radios, phones, and so when I am on my own, I love the peaceful sound of just nothing.  That is when I do all my tricky bits - designing, noses, ears and shading.

In front of the tv at night, in full noise, I like to overstitch pieces and stuff.  Stuffing doesn't seem as bad when you are occupied with something else as well!

I listen to music when I am sewing or cutting out bears. Stuffing and finishing them, I am usually in front of the TV at night, driving Hubby nuts   because I need the light on! (he says it shines in his eyes)

Hi Peta,

Way out  here in Norther Saskatchewan, when I am working on a bear I go into my studio which has large windows that face out on the lake.  I put on my CD's.  I like to listen to a lot of easy listening music, ie.  some Chinese instrumentals, nature music. But most of all I like watching the birds outside, the Loons on the lake, and the peacefulness.  Sometimes I get so wrapped up in the outside I forget what I am suppose to be doing on the inside...   Thanks for the chance to share.

If I'm sewing a bear then it's in front of the tv  If I'm working in my sewing room - then I have my ipod going, usually something loud like early rock.

It depends on what stage the bear is in.  Drawing and cutting out = television.  Pinning and sewing = base thumping, window rattling music.  Stuffing = television.  Ladder stitching seams = R&B music.  Ears and faces = absolute silence.  Dressing = base thumping, window rattling music again!!

Warmest bear hugs,

Ha, funny answer Aleta!  I'm kinda the same. It depends on what I'm doing and what mood I'm in.  Sometimes I'll work a whole day in completely silence.  Other times I'll pop in a DVD -- especially if it's late at night and everyone is asleep.  I feel lonely!  Probably most often, I listen to odd music; celtic instrumentals, movie soundtracks, and a frequent favorite, soundtracks from Cirque du Soleil productions.  They have just the right mix of energy and calm, and are so, so beautiful and lilting.  And of course, listening to them brings me back in my mind to the performances I've seen, which is a reminiscent journey I love taking.

Good question!

If it is first thing in the morning I like to watch news and breakfast time tv.  Later like Ellen I sometimes put on a language tape (trying to learn French, oh dear not very well though), music at other times and like most of you I like to be silent when doing faces, need to concentration or I don't get anything to be symetrical.  I also save the stuffing for when I have company and talk and stuff, talk and stuff, talk and stuff and hey presto, its stuffed really quickly - or so it seems.

Always always - Recorded Books/Books-On-Tape/Audio Books(copyright symbol inserted here if I could remember how to do it...)  - all of the recorded print materials.

If you're holding a book, you're not holding work! And I MUST read at least a bit every day, even if it's just the oatmeal box.

eBooks are too expensive for me - I go through them too quickly. My Library is part of an excellent inter-library suburban loan service. A new iPod has solved a major problem for me: out of the dozen 'books' I get every week or so, I invariably lose at least 1 disk from one of the books. This was costing me a small fortune as I wear/wore the Walkman 24/7 except in the shower (and I heard that they get the new disks burned for nothing - the $9 fee for each disk is the virtual slap-on-the-hand, I guess...)

But!  Now they're uploaded into iTunes, downloaded into iPod and  -  I just have to remember to charge it every day!!!
Thx for asking

Listen to my favorite music . . . smooth, soothing, comforting jazz . . . or sometimes I just have complete silence.

I am kind of weird. I switch between CNN and Court TV a lot (the show that covers big trials in progress, not like Judge Judy or Divorce Court). I love Discovery and any shows about real-life adventure. I also really like X-Games; skateboarding and BMX. (Kind of odd for a 40 year old woman). bear_cool Funny, I never listen to my ipod, except when riding my bike. My daughter thinks its funny I have a 10GB ipod and only have 87 songs on there.

I always listen to National Radio or music when I am cutting out and making a bear and then normally sit in front
of TV when I am up to the stuffing part, watching either the Living Channel or Food TV.

wow, looks like if I'm to be more productive I need to shut my TV off! I have a TV in my studio and that's what is always on. I'm a big food network junkie so mostly that is what's on.

Although I'm starting to think that if I just put on tunes on I might get more work done...............
