We went to the Zoo today, saw so many wonderful animals there, just wanted to post some of my favorite...enjoy!
wow Tami. I was saying "oooooo" and "aahhhh" as I scrolled down. You take beautiful photos. So clear and such detail. The baby elephant, cheetah, and hippo...and bear or course...are my favs that you took. And YOU look GREAT!!!
Thx for that AWESOME shot of the Grizzly - giving you a Raspberry!!!
On one trip there in the early to mid 70s (my folks lived in Golden and then up in Nederland/Eldora area), we were watching - most of one long hot August afternoon, in awe for hours, while a Mother Antelope was birthing a baby. We think she was having difficulty but apparently no one at the zoo was overly concerned.... it was before cell phones and every so often someone from the small group who stayed most of the day went to a phone to report on her.
They said they'd come if it looked as if she was "in difficulty"
This poor mother had 4 hooves and half the baby's legs protruding for hours... she could neither lay down nor walk around comfortably. We took several dozen rolls of film. I thought for sure that the baby had stopped breathing - how long could it stay in that position???
All it needed was a zoo keeper to do a bit of pulling!!
They do it for horses & cows!!!
How inhumane..........
With 3 children under 10, I finally had to leave and I never did learn what happened... and against my better judgment (of bringing my film home to be developed) I took it to one of those kiosk jiffy places that were in every strip mall... and you know it; they lost the 3 rolls of that order.
I was furious; with the cavalier attitude of the Denver zoo ppl we spoke to (at that time)
at the photo place - and no one who would accept responsibility.
Ah, well. sometimes things just happen. But I've always wondered about that birth...
I LOVE going to the zoo!!! Thanks for the virtual tour Tami :photo: Loved all the pics, but that last one just melted my heart!!
I sooooo want a baby kitty in the house!!!
