Hi, Whilst the hints and tips are exceptionally helpful for the beginner, unfortunately I am the kind of person who needs pictures to help me.  Can anyone recommend any good books for bear making - I have Jennifer Laing's book Teddy Bear Art which is great.  I need a book that is a little more advanced than a beginner. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thankyou.

the best one I have found is Nancy Tillberg's 101 Bears to Make! it is an awesome book, and the techniques are well explained and photographed. It is the book I started with and still refer back to it for certain techniques.

I have Nancys book too, and another that is so informative is Ted Mentons, A Bear Studio.
This one is my bible..

I love Nancy's book!  Linda Mullins book, The Ultimate Handbook for Making Teddy Bears is another favorite of mine for techniques.  Whimsical Teddy Bears by Neysa Phillippi also has some advanced techniques and information on designing.

Leanne, it is well worth collecting the magazine 'Australian Bear Creations' the tutorials in the back are excellent and by  specialised , advanced professional bearmakers.  Its the best part of the magazine I reckon.  The tutorials alone are well worth my 10bucks:thumbsup:

I would reccomend 101 Bears to Make by Nancy Tilberg, It is a little difficult to find and can be expensive, but it's well worth it. I also have Jennifer Laings Constructing Teddy and His Friends and have found it helpful too.

I agree with the above mentioned.  All really wonderful books!
Another great book is: A Bear of My Own, by Rotraud Ilisch.

Hi Leanne,

Nice to have someone from Wagga here bear_original  I go to Wagga quite a bit as my husband's family is there.

I have a book called "The Encyclopedia of Teddy Bear Making Techniques" by Alicia Merrett & Ann Stephens.  It's a great reference book and has heaps of clear photos showing you how to do absolutely everything.  I'd recommend it.
