I was thinking about buying a scale to weigh my own packages and start shipping that way ..........anyone have a scale, ..........do you use it and purchase your shipping labels online????
I have a digital postal scale that I bought on ebay (new) for less than $30 with shipping. I use it and through USPS click n ship I can print my own labels. It's very convenient. Just make sure the scale is for postal use.
I use a digital postage scale I purchased at Office Max. It weighs to 10 pounds, was less than $50.00. I use it a lot and I love it.

I use my good ol' kitchen scale that goes up to 10 lbs. It was super inexpensive, and probably came from Kohls or something.
12 - 15 years ago, I bought a Pelouze mechanical scale that weighs up to 50 pounds at one of the big chain office supply stores. Seems like it cost around $30 at that time. The main reason was so I could let customers know shipping costs before mailing the package. It comes in handy for other uses as well.
I've been using a scale that goes to 5#'s or so for my bears - the digital scale from walmart. I originally got it to weigh fragrance oils so needed the ability to measure 10ths of an ounce ;)
For larger packages I had been using my bathroom scale and adding a little to be sure LOL! Never had a problem...but finally...
Hubby just picked up a real nice scale from Office Depot as the one by us is closing. It's a $150 scale we got for $65. Weighs packages up to 150 lbs and the display 2 feet ABOVE the box so I can read it!! I really like it because we sell a lot of our stuff we no longer use on eBay and those boxes are quite a bit larger than my bear boxes
tehe, I bought a digital kitchen scale too, it is soo good and very accurate. Just make sure it goes up to a large enough weight, mine is 5 kilos I think, and its always exact when I take it in to post.
Hi Tami,
I have a 20 lb. capacity Pelouse that is computer compatible. Ding-a-ling me doesn't know how to hook it up to the computer though so I just use it as a scale and input the information into the USPS website. It's absolutely accurate. Highly recommended!
Warmest bear hugs,

Hi Aleta, I just ordered a 20 lb. capacity Pelouse, I did some research and picked that one, my hubby ships stuff out so we needed the 20 lb.
Now I can't wait to get it!
Thanks for asking this Tami. I've been thinking about that too! And thanks for all the good answers.
Hey Tami,
It's the only way to go!! If you ship priority the Post Office will give you FREE, all the boxes, tape everything you need! And they will pick the package up from your front porch if you like! It's the only way we ship.
I ship all the time and use the click and ship along with a postal scale that goes up to 10#. Very convenient! Good luck.
I just got my Pelouze scale in today............grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr first I had to go buy a USB to Serial Adapter ($30.00) and then that would not work because my computer would not recognize the COM port...............grrrrrrrrrrrr 2 hours later, I found where I had to download the drivers for the new adapter to make a COM4 on my computer...............well I did it and I have it up and running and have downloaded the latest postal Rate scales...
