Don't forget to 1)  Update your virus software, 2) Run a virus scan and 3) Back up your computer.. TODAY.

April 1 is a popular date for hackers to launch their worms and viruses...

Yes, I've read about a new and dangerous one (Conficker?) supposedly being launched tomorrow.  Wish these jokers would use their talents elsewhere.  bear_angry  bear_angry  bear_angry  bear_angry

Thanks for the reminder!  I remembered the first two, but didn't do a back up today... bear_thumb

If your virus software is updated, your system upgrades and patches are all current and you practice safe internet behavior you have nothing to worry about.  Cornficker (AKA: Downadup) isn't anything special.  People have been watching it for months.

I have just heard on the news, that it was an April's Fool prank.
The Virus has not hit New Zealand anyway -  you would think they would have better things to do
than spread this sort of scare, around the world.

Every once in a while it's  not a bad idea to have a reminder to do these things anyways.  I know of a couple TTers who lost all their photos and documents because they did not do a back up  bear_cry

I've done photo backups after my own brother lost treasured photos of his baby years ago.  Its a hard way to learn a lesson.   bear_cry

You're right, Laura, it was a good reminder. I was up til after 11:00 last night putting a bunch of my photos that I didn't want to lose onto thumb drives - I got an 8GB one for Christmas and just hadn't gotten around to doing it so that was the incentive that I needed!
