I had it happen. My long hair cat was lying next to the sewing machine, annoyed at the lack of attention, swished his tail and I sewed it  bear_shocked  Luckily I had just sewn the long hair along his tail and not his actual tail. It didn't scare him in the least, but it scared the heck out of me!
