Print---storyfortwo3.jpgIt's been a while since I've been around.  We've been on holiday in Scotland and had THE best time.  On our way there we stopped off in The Lake District and fullfilled a long time wish to visit Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's home.  It was so sweet complete with the vegetable patch seen in many of her stories.  When she left it to The National Trust she stated that it had to be left as she left it, so it was just as if she had popped out of the door.  I took HEAPS of photos which I have shared on my blog and my Flickr pages.  If you'd like to take a peek pop along to my blog and scroll back through the posts and links -  http://bumpkinbears.blogspot.com/

You'll also see on my blog that I have launched the Big-Re-Jig in my Etsy store due to the current economic Hic-cup we are experiencing.  The Bears have decided so that they can meet lots of new people they have reduced all their Art Prints by 25% (including my latest, Story for Two-o-o which you can see here).  So if you like Bargain Bear Hunting then pop along to my Etsy Store - www.bumpkin.etsy.com

I hope you enjoy exploring Peter Rabbit's world as much as I did,
Beary Hugs

Oh that sounds like a fantastic time at Beatrix Potter's home. It makes me want to go out and see the movie again. She really was a woman before her time like Jane Austin. Look at her wonderful legacy...her books, drawings and conservation!!! It is hard to believe women were not supposed to earn a living but rather marry and be taken care of in that era....

bear_wub would love to read the blog and see the pics, but when you add music to the blog, it is a no no since I am at work.  will have to read another time.

Thank you Catherine,
I thoroughly enjoyed your pictures!!
I have always loved Beatrice Potter. I did my daughters nursery (she just turned 21 on the 31st) in a Beatrice Potter theme spending several hundred dollars in porcelain musical boxes for the room. All saved for her daughter someday. :)
I will never be able to visit her home and I thank you for taking me there in your pictures. :)
Your photos were breathtaking!!! bear_wub

Hi Catherine,

I enjoyed visiting your blog and seeing your lovely photos of Beatrix Potters house, and garden.
I have always loved the books, read them as a child and then read them to my children.
Good luck with your Etsy sale.

Hugs
Carolyn

And isn't it funny how you have to leave the gardens/property through the Gift Shop!!??
SOOO many precious Must-Haves in there!

Our DD Anne, was born on Ms Potter's B'day, 28 July but 101 years later!
I've always felt a special affinity with Hill Top House, too, and love wearing the sweater I bought there in '89 during  our first visit, with many of the characters knitted in in Fair Isle style bands.
Thx for the memories.
