Hi everyone,
Thanks to Lisa Page of Arcas Designs, this lovely toad "Nat" is resting after his long journey and enjoying the last of the season's wildflowers here in Wisconsin.
After Lisa agreed to send Nat to live with me, I looked up "Natterjack Toad" online. Lisa had mentioned that it was an endangered species, but what surprised us was that besides the toads that remain in the UK, there is a population of this rare critter in Wisconsin, USA. And there was Nat, coming to live near his American relatives!
I feel very lucky to have him here

Hehehehe. Cute.
The Natterjack toad is rare here in the UK, but I was fortunate enough to see one recently, but it wasn't quite as plushy as yours. :)

Lucky you to see one! (Admittedly, though, very few are as plushy as Nat:)
I remember that you're a friend of amphibians. There probably aren't a lot of people who would know a Natterjack if they did see one.

He is adorable, I love him, I love the cabochons on his back, what a wonderful addition to your collection

Lovely.
Becky,
How lovely of you to post some piccies of Nat.
I'm so pleased that he has arrived safe and sound and his journey was so speedy too. Wowzer! If only the post could be that fast all the time.
Thomas,
You lucky guy, I'd be over the moon to be able see one in real life. I don't think that they reside near me though so I guess I'll have to be content with the common toads. They do a sterling job of keeping the slugs in check in my garden.
Regards
Lisa
The toad is fabulous, I do not know anything about frogs per say, but this one is tops and what a great job done by Lisa. So distinct. LOVE HIM!!!

Yes, toads are nice like that. :) I live in Hampshire, and even then, they're so rare round here it's still a miracle to see them. Then again, they do prefer the south of UK due to the climate.
But, I have to say, comparing Nat to a real life Natterlack toad is interesting, he's very similar, and real life Natterjack toads really do have those oval bumps on them.
They also make the oddest noise. :)
You've done a good job. And I know Becky is pleased. :D

Funny - I read this on Tuesday..........I love toads, but rarely see them round here............and then, Tuesday night, walking the dog - a TOAD hopped past us! It dived under a parked car, and in the dark I lost sight of him. Sadly, yesterday I saw two squished toads on local roads.........I wonder if the sudden warm spell (25C plus yesterday) is bringing them out. Intriguing that they also occur in Wisconsin......
And Lisa - Nat is GREAT, right down to his light stripe on his back - and the cabochons work perfectly!

He is much betting looking then the toads we have around here. All we have are cane toads - enemy number one in Queensland yuk!
How Adorable!!!
