Tiffani has been feeling bad since Dec 22, started throwing up and just not feeling well at all, went to the dr and got meds and fluid shots on xmas eve. She stopped eating any food over the weekend, due to the holidays, we did not get to have the ultra sound until this morning, she had a obstruction in her intestine. They operated tonight at 8:00, called at 10:00 and said it was a leg off one of her stuffed animals.........
my poor baby, I feel so bad..............she will be in the hospital for a few days....we got home and went through all of her stuffed toys and threw away any that had arms and legs or loose items that she may chew on. Very expensive and terrible lesson for us and Tiff, the bill is $3,600 and Tiff has a 7" cut down her tummy....
Please say a prayer for my Tiffani
:cry
For anyone with a dog that loves to chew, PLEASE don't give them stuffed animals of any kind. Dog stuffed toys or people stuffed toys. It can kill them. A hard lesson learned since I almost lost my baby because of stupidity. The Dr. said this was very common, esp. during the holidays because of all the toys people buy for their fur babies....
Awwww, poor little Tiff. Willing a speedy recovery for her, Tami. What an awful thing to happen over Christmas! I'm sure she'll soon be back to her old self again
Oh Tami, I can imagine just how you are feeling at the moment. I am so sorry to hear about poor little Tiffani, bless her. Thank heavens her problem was found swiftly by the vets and action taken. A customer of mine had a similar problem to this just before Christmas but in her case, her very large dog had eaten one of her husband's socks and this caused a dangerous problem for the dog. Thankfully he is back to his normal self now but I gather dogs will eat anything!
Tiffany will soon be bouncing around Tami, she is an extremely lucky little dog to have such a devoted Mum and Dad.
Sending squishy (but gentle!) hugs to Tiffany.

Aww, poor wee Tiff, and poor you guys too. Glad they were able to get to the bottom of it though, big hugs for a speedy recovery
Oh Tami. your poor baby. It breaks my heart to read she has been so unwell. Yes throw those toys away. Here in the UK there is a range of dog toys which have no stuffing. I am sure Tiffani would love these and stay safe. Bless her heart , please give her a hug from me and Lucy.
Hugs, Jane.
Ahh, poor girl. I hope she feels all better soon. I am sure she will be happy to get home and have you taking care of her. Nothing like mom when you are sick.

Some dogs have a fondness for socks. Especially smelly ones!
It might smell like stinky feet to you and me but, to a dog, that's "Chanel No. 5!"
When I was a kid, the only toys my Dad gave to his hunting dogs were lacrosse balls and large "Whammo" brand Frisbees. Only the Whammo frisbees were strong enough to withstand the chewing they would have to endure. I have yet to meet a dog that can chew up a lacrosse ball. I've seen them get pretty messed up but I've never seen pieces come off.
That was way before "Kong" and "Nylabone" started making dog toys. If we had them when by Dad was alive and raising dogs I bet he would have been a stockholder in the company!
I guess this should be a reminder to check our dog and cat toys and make sure they aren't getting chewed up to the point where pieces can come off. Since it's Christmas, I suppose this would be a good time to replace your dog's old, chewed up toys. Wouldn't it? Even if you don't believe in getting Christmas presents for your dog, it certainly serves as a good reminder to replace those ragged dog toys.
Anyhow, the Bears and I are sending Bear Vibes and best wishes, hoping that Tiff gets better soon!
Poor Tiff. What an awful thing to happen. She will be just fine in no time - but how scary for both of you.
The same thing happened to my nephews dog but it was a sock. My nephew was in Afghanistan on tour and my sister in law was dog sitting and felt just horrible but the good news is that Duran is doing fine and no problems its been approx 8 months since his surgery! The cost was around the same and unfortunately they did approx $1000 worth of tests before the surgery and still weren't sure what the blockage was until they did the actual surgery.
Bear hugs coming your way
Poor thing. I know from experience how much this can cost. My Nekko ate some ribbon and was terribly sick. Cost about $3000 when all was said and done! Needless to say, I too went through everything to make sure nothing can come off a toy and I watch my crafting supplies like a hawk when I have them out.
What an awful experience, but thank goodness Tiff made it through, and thank you for sharing with us what you learned, Tami. It may well save another dog and his/her family from going through the same thing.

I'm so glad this incident had a good outcome. (I've already read your other post about the successful surgery.) Will be more careful about the toys I give my puppies.
I am so sorry to hear of Tiffany's toy mishap!! I am glad she is ok now but I bet you were worried sick about her over Christmas!
I had a similar experience with my Wookie. But I was fortunate enough that I saw him eat part of a toy. He actually swallowed whole a huge piece of furry fabric about 10" in diameter!!!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. I couldn't believe he didn't choke on the thing. I stood there dumbfounded for a minute then immediatly called the vet as I knew that thing was never going to come out the other end! My vet had me take him to the emergency vet. Once there the first thing to try was to give him a shot to make him vomit with hopes he would throw it back up.( I had asked my vet if I should try doing this but they said I should not do it on my own as he might choke on it as it came back up. ) Well, luckily that did the trick. The vet was amazed at the size of the thing.
So even though it seemed expensive to pay $80.00 to make my dog throw up----it was worth every penny. Much cheaper than over $3000 for surgery. I really feel for you Tami!!! But thank goodness Tiff is OK!!!
Please everyone, watch your mohair and furs too! My Wookie (aka chewmonster) loves to eat these too. I have to be very careful he doesn't get them.
Keep your puppies safe!
Beth
Tami,
I'm sorry to hear that Tiff had to go thru this ordeal. I do hope she has a speedy recovery.
Thank you for the warning about the stuffed toys. We don't buy them for our cats but we do for my MIL dachshund who loves to chew. I will get her to check them.
Sending lots of healing prayers for Tiff      and hugs to you
