I think he's a "Fair Bear."  One of those Teddy Bears who are midway prizes at amusement parks and fairs.

If so, he could have been made by any one of 1,000 companies that sprung up to service the amusement park trades.

When did they start making them? He is not filled with poly filling. He is filled with the straw stuff.....it soulds crunchy in side.

Gosh, I don't know...  My first Teddy Bear was a prize from an amusement park and that was in 1965.  Bears have been prizes ever since I can remember.  Probably as far back as the 1920's.

Fair Bears often have crinkly stuffing.  It might not be straw but it often isn't poly-fill either.  Sometimes, it's shredded plastic or foam.  I have seen fair Bears stuffed with cotton, which is what my Bear was stuffed with.
