Shane, I gotta agree with you! I think it's fun and the dogs aren't harmed in any way...in fact they get loads of attention. I do like a poodle in the show clip...for the show! They look fantastic! They prance like they own the place! They know they look good! After the show, they get it all shaved off! It takes about 3 hours a day to maintain a show clip. bear_wacko
I have a standard poodle and I know the breeder well (they also show champion poodles). These dogs need to be groomed constantly...They need a good haircut every 6-8 weeks! Most of them totally enjoy the attention. They are clowns by nature...they love goofing off and entertaining. Most of them really think they are human. My boy certainly thinks he is! bear_tongue The only part he doesn't like is getting his feet trimmed, he's ticklish! This type of hair sculpting isn't much different than what a poodle handler would have to do to show the dog in a competition. This is probably easier on the dog, I'm sure it all gets shaved off when they get home.
I know everyone doesn't like the same thing...but owning one of these amazing dogs changes your view on them. When in the sport clip, which is what I groom my poodle in, many people stop and ask what kind of a dog he is, they find him really beautiful.

Gees my husband says that what I look like when I sleep.

bear_laugh He must think you're adorable!

Angela

bear_laugh they are bats..I had to look again. Someone had a lot of patience gently wrapping them and keeping them calm for the photo! They look adorable!

Angela

bear_cry Thankyou for sharing this, what a wonderful story.

Angela

Sounds like you had a great time! It must be fun just driving and enjoying the scenery...especially a bear! Thanks for sharing the photos, beautiful scenery!

Angela

Welcome back and congratulations on your new adventures!

I mark my head pieces so I can match them up perfectly. Some fabric has more stretch, so basting the pieces together first can be a great help.
If the face is twisted, I would unstuff and fix the problem before I joint and try to finish. I would spend waaaayyy too much time trying to fix it otherwise bear_wacko  If it's just a bit off, scissor-sculpting and needle-sculpting is a great fix.

If you want to expand your creativity, go for it! You sound really excited about the prospect of learning more... follow your heart!
If you're only doing it because you see other artists doing it...maybe you should rethink it.
As long as we live, we will never stop learning...If this is what you love to do, then you can't lose.
Any drawing course will help you gain perspective for better pattern creation...Any sculpting course can help with 3d construction ideas, etc. Everything I've learned over the years has helped me make better bears.
Like I said...follow your heart!!!

I use a canon powershot camera and love it. It takes 2 'aa' batteries, it uses an sd card, and it's simple to use. My uncle takes more professional photos and he likes the colour quality best from the digital slr fuji camera. He's tried some of the newest and expensive equipment out there, but still prefers his fuji. He likes the canon too, but it wouldn't be his first choice. I know canon has a great reputation for making a really good lens. For price/quality comparisons, I found the nicest cameras under $300 for what I wanted were the canon.

A big dog is a little different to correct, but it can be done. Don't quit trying, keep learning, as every dog is individual in personality, but they are still a pack animal needing a leader. Teaching Dakota a down/stay command may be the solution. Him and you will be more relaxed once he learns this. It takes about a week of consistent training to solidly teach a dog one new command. After the week of teaching, then you need to correct any variance to the learned command immediately. They are smart enough to know what you expect if your week of teaching was very consistent. Does he obey sit/stay? If so, this down/stay should be easy to teach.

Angela

It's a good thing everyday isn't like that! I hope you get things dried out quickly! I hope your feeling better soon too.
