Lots of great help there, thank you all, yes the suede definitely looks, and is easier to use than the felt. I'd bought a eye whites kit that he'd felt whites in it, I had always been using them it never dawned on me to use suede until I opened a kit I had and it had a small piece of white suede in it I will be trying the eyelids soon
Hi,
Just wondering how do you make your eye whites?
Only just learnt by accident that suede make much better whites than felt
Hi Leanne,
I think my favourite is finishing the head, eyes, nose, mouth & ears, seeing it's character develop,
Least favourite is foot pads and cutting out the pattern.
He is a beauty
He is beautiful

Hi all,
I have a bear that is giving me trouble and I'm tempted to put him aside and start a new one but I don't know if I have the willpower
Have you ever done this successfully without it driving you mad and just kept going? He's sitting there looking at me as I write this, what to do??????
So sweet, love the fur
Love his eyes, so cute
Beautiful bear
First bear on the left, latest bear on the right,
I've only been bear making for 18 months but I think I've come a long way
So cute
I think the reason I have been fray stopping everything is because the very first mohair bear I made I had a lot of trouble with a very loose weave backing (I was later told that is was a bad batch) after that experience I just automatically fray stopped the rest, but now have got to thinking if I need to.
I am just finishing a bear at the moment, my next one is a larger bear, for me 36cm so I think I try him without fray stop and hope all comes out ok, fingers crossed for me please
Thanks Becky,
I tend to really over stuff my bears, like them firm, I just like to take every precaution I can but was wondering if I was becoming a bit to cautious
Hi all,
I would just like to ask if you think fray stopper is really necessary if you blanket stitch the pieces together before sewing like I do?, I have sent a pic so you know what I mean.
I don't use pins as I can't work with them and I am spending a fortune on fray stopper and I hate using it cos its time consuming and makes the fabric stiffer and harder to get the needle in.
He is so cute
Hi All,
I would like to know how you collectors display your bears.
I make bears for myself, don't sell them but my bears range from 5 to 12 inches and easy to find homes for, but my problem now is I've started to collect Charlie Bears, just got my 4th and am having problems knowing were to put them. I have chihuahuas so I need to keep them up off the floor, love to know we're you all keep you collections.
Lovely Renee, how big is Jonesy?
Peterbear your bears a lovely, I especially like Catherine she looks very big, nicely done photos too,
I just got my first Charlie bears too and it's Trevor also!!!!
Wow that's just a little bit spooky
