Hi,
I was wondering if there are any in person bear making classes near Charleston, South Carolina? I've been wanting for many years to learn how to make a teddy bear. I've looked at books and see that there are online classes but I am just the kind of person who needs to have "hands on" learning especially for this. Or if someone lives in my area who would be willing to show me how to make a bear?
I just thought I'd post and see what came up. I didn't know where else to try to find someone. I've tried a general search online and it didn't come up with anything.
Thanks for your time,
The Best thing of 2007 - being able to achieve a very difficult move for a family of 4 from Connecticut to South Carolina. So many hurdles from selling our house in a terrible market to timing out schools, jobs. But with God's help it all amazingly worked out and so far we are very happy in our new state.
Worst of 2007 - all the things my sister had to deal with from being told she may loose many of her teeth to finding a precancerous spot in her cervix. Again with God's help everything worked out for her including the doctor getting all of the bad tissue out of her and a procedure saving her teeth.
My worst present was back in high school my boyfriend of 2 years gave me a bunch of tube socks. They were wrapped but not even in their original plastic package just folded. I think their were 6 pairs of men's tube socks. He said it was because he knew my feet get cold alot. But that was my only gift that year from him!!
It's 7:20 pm and I'm just waiting to get my kids to bed for the night so my hubby and I can have some quiet time. Then at 8pm we are going to watch Bones and then Standoff at 9pm. Finally something to watch!! Everynight now that summer is here there is never anything good on.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Hi,
I don't know where to find out about upcoming teddy bear shows in my area at all. Does anyone know of any shows coming up in the USA in CT or surrounding areas like RI, MA, NH, etc?
Thanks,
Lisa
Hi,
I wasnt sure where to put this post but I wanted to start to buy some necessary tools that I will need to attempt to make my first bear. Is there a general shopping list of "must haves" that can be recommended? Also an online store to buy these things from?
I was also wondering where a good place to buy patterns would be? I am a little lost on what kind of joints to use too? So many questions!!!!......
Thanks,
Lisa
Thank you everyone for all of your advice and helpful tips! I'll get Nancy's book to start with and go from there. At least I have some contact names now so I can ask questions which I'm sure I'll have lots of! I haven't sewn anything since high school so this should be interesting!!
Hi,
I am a new member to this group. I've been a teddy bear collector for a short time but my main goal is to first buy a real fur bear and 2nd learn how to make a real fur bear.
Is there any videos you can buy for something like this? I'm a visual person. I live in CT in the USA and am not sure if there are any classes around my area I can take? Or anyone on this group who teaches how to make a fur bear? I need to buy my first sewing machine even. But I am a stay at home mom and I'd really love to accomplish a goal like this so I am hoping to find a way to learn to make some bears.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lisa
