Wow, Becky, you are doing a lot better than I am to start off the new year!  I'm making (struggling) with a quilted applique wall hanging!!!!!  Parsley is wonderful, and of course, so is Elvin!

Jenny - I used to do them straight onto the bear also, but I found that I had a hard time getting them even that way.  It seemed easier to me to get them even was by having them side by side!

Paula - Hope this is successful for you, too!  I will add that when I place them in the bear "as usual", I pluck all the fur away from the eye socket behind the eye and then I put glue on the muslin back of the eye.  Once they are all finished, I put a coat of clear nail polish over them to seal them all together, but this is "usual" for me!

I just opened an Etsy store, too, Conni!  Boy, as usual, I haven't figured out what I am doing, so every day I go in and set up a little bit more!  Yesterday, as I was floundering around, I added the same bear twice and couldn't figure out why it said I had 6 listed when I only had 5 bears!  Good luck with yours!

I'm no expert, but here is how I do this:

1.    Mark a 2inch by 4inch scrap of muslin with a line horizontally down the middle and 2 lines vertically each about an inch and a half in from the outside edges.  Pin to a Styrofoam block. Glue the back of the eyes with craft glue and poke the loops into the crossing lines.  Let dry.
2.    *Cut and glue 2mm white cord under each eye.  Let dry.  Cut and glue 2mm brown cord pleasingly under and over the white cord.  Let dry.  Trim cords at horizontal lines on muslin.
3.    Cut and glue 4mm leather strip over top of eye.  Trim inside corners with a slant and tuck point under cords at line.  Arrange strip pleasingly over outside eye, covering cords and trim.
4.    Allow to dry completely, and then cut out the eyes from the muslin.  Place eyes in bear head as usual.
*If you prefer lids only with no whites, use the brown cord instead of white and omit the lower lid cord instruction.

Hope this helps!

What a great story!!!!!!! Charlie bears are SO very cute!

Don't know, Peter!  But it seems that it works in reverse for the dogs - they are born very wrinkly and get less so as they grow older.  And as far as people go, we seem to spend billions for a wrinkle cream to get rid of them... like yeah, that works!!!!

tcfolk

Shar pei dogs are the cutest things - it takes most of us years to achieve all those wrinkles, and we're not nearly that cute when we do!

How cute - love the story!!!!

Please meet Betsy and Doodle Duck.  For as long as she can remember, Doodle Duck has been Betsy’s best friend, constant companion and savior; “I didn’t break it – Doodle Duck did” or “Doodle Duck got the mud on my shoes” and even “He was a bad duck, he spilled milk all over the floor”!  Of course, the worst punishment she ever has is to sit in the corner for a time out, but because Doodle Duck is the “real culprit”, he has to sit in the corner with her!  The two of them will sit and share secrets and quiet laughs until their time out is over and they are excused. And then they are off, together again, for more adventures, probably with a few more mishaps!

Betsy is looking for a new home.  She is on Bear Pile.
