Fabulous pictures! Thank you for sharing them Laura Lynn. I always enjoy seeing all the bears and the way the artists display their work.

Hi Patty!
I've heard about this before but not known anyone personally who's tried it. As a soon to be Nana, I'm educating myself on all sorts of things that we didn't know about when we raised our own children. I ordered a Dunstan Baby Language CD so I can try to decipher the different cries a baby makes. I'll have to look more into the sign language as well. Isn't all this stuff wildly fascinating?!!!
Your precious grandie is just cute as the dickens!!

Fascinating. I guess I never really gave this much thought. As a collector, I buy what I like, regardless of whether it's mohair or faux.
Perhaps it would help if the faux fur were called luxury synthetics or something with a swanky name. After all, mohair doesn't come from mo's. It's goat hair for pity sake!! It is goat hair...right? Ha! So, why don't we call mohair goat hair? Because it doesn't sound very swanky? Think about it. And laugh.
Just chatting on......

It is a nice feeling Jeannie! Thank you for your kind words.

Though I adore Steiff bears, my heart belongs to Schuco for sentimental reasons. My first teddy bear (in my 20's) was an early Schuco. I found him at a garage sale for $25.00. In absolutely mint condition, ribbon, Tricky tag, working music box, the yes/no feature and a whopping 21 inches tall. Little did I know what a find he was then!! My father-in-law bought him for me when he saw my woeful face as we got back in the car. Who would have thought that bear would play such an important part in my life? I met Beverly and John Port through that bear. Tricky actually lived with Beverly for awhile before coming back to live with me permanently.
I took him out of his safe haven today, turned the twisty on the music box and hugged him tenderly as I thought of my father-in-law. He is long since passed but the memory is one of my fondest.
The funny thing is, just yesterday Bill brought home another Schuco. Same size, not in as lovely condition, but a Schuco nonetheless. AND it's a pink one with a girlie face!! Long since fadded to a dusty champagne grey the pink is still visible in the joints and inside the ears. So, my dearest Tricky now has a girlfriend!
Schuco.....definitely Schuco.

You might have missed it if you haven't peeked in in awhile. Silly you! A bear artist as well as fabulous illustrator won the draw. I'll be doing another giveaway in November!

Hi Elk,
Yessirre, I buy artists bears as well as design and make them. Though come to think of it, I haven't bought an artist bear in awhile. It's not that I haven't tried though. I've been outbid on eBay by another member here who likes the same bears!! Bother that! It just hasn't meant to be. I'll keep looking for the bears that wink and wave at me...count on it!
Like the others have said, if you can afford it and it won't put you in financial dire straights.....go for it!!
Warmest bear hugs,

Ha! I don't think my bears look like me at all. They do encompass what I like though...shabby vintage. Hmmmm. Maybe I look shabby vintage. Come to think of it....... heehee

Hi Gail!
Mine is a Panasonic and I bought it at a retail beauty supply store. I'm sure any brand of the same thing would work just fine. I can't remember what I paid for it. You may be able to buy something like it on eBay! Ebay is always my "go to" place when I'm looking for something specific and don't want to run all over town trying to track it down.

Okie dokie....pictures!! My shaver/trimmer is rechargeable so I don't have a funky cord to get in my way or pull in a direction I do not want it to go. Just for the purpose of picture taking I've taken a picture with a piece that was already trimmed. See what a clean line it leaves! Oh, and I'm not a lefty. I had to hold the trimmer with my left hand so I could get a picture with my right hand! That took a little juggling! I think you can see the line on my shaver/trimmer in the upright photo.
Because I do bears in multiples....drawing, cutting, trimming, etc.....I'm able to do a bunch of bears all in one go. And, the best part, no hand trauma/carpal tunnel!!
Warmest bear hugs,

There is a caveat to lowering your prices. Once you drop them it takes awhile to get them back up where they belong....the consumer sees that you're willing to discount. It's a tough road but it will get better. It always does!

Minky!! I think the fabric you're referring to is called Minky. At least that's what they call it in the US. It's soft as butter and the swirly stuff is beyond incredible. Why someone hasn't come up with lap quilts for adults out of the stuff is beyond me. I'd by them by the arm loads!!

Hi Shelly,
I trim the seams before sewing as well. I use an electric razor....the kind for trimming up sideburns, moustaches and a short haircut at the nape of the neck. I put a permanent mark on the blade so I know exactly how far in to trim. Zip, zip....it's that quick! If I remember later today, I'll post a picture so anyone out there who wants to go this route, knows what to look for.

Excellent idea, Gail!!
May 3rd. It's a ways off. We're still holding our breath waiting for the first trimester to pass. Brittany was carrying twins. Now there is only one. We're sad that one didn't make it and we're praying and hoping that this lone baby continues to thrive!

Oh Chrissi, Chrissi, Chrissi,
You are an bad influence! Sending me a link to Poshtots and Petunia Picklebottom. Shame on you!! Ha! I used my entire day looking at baby cribs (which I finally narrowed down to a top three selection by the way), bedding ensembles and diaper bags. Good grief!! I'm obsessed with baby!!
Donna,
I'm glad my mom is around for this baby too. It's actually given her and my dad something positive to focus on. Babies work miracles! This baby will actually have many great-grandmas and great grandpas!!
Marlys my dear,
I fear you are right. Spoiled for sure. But in the best ways, of course. Lots of love and bear hugs!!
Shantell,
I know all about the teeny weenie envious part. Everytime someone would post a picture of their grandchild or say they were going to be a Nana, I was happy for them and at the same time envious.
So, for everyone out there waiting for their turn, I pray it comes for you too!!
Again, thank you everyone for your kind posts!! I'll pass along your happy thoughts to Brittany and Jeremy tomorrow.
Warmest bear hugs and a happy weekend to you!
Aleta
Thank you all so very much. You know, as much as I've wanted this to happen, I feel so out of touch with all things baby. It' been 25 years!! And OMG, the price of a box of diapers is astounding!! It's by the grace of a higher power that young couples manage it. I think grandparents have perhaps a little to do with it too.
I've used my complete morning and now part of the afternoon surfing on the internet looking at baby this and baby that. Oiy!! Did you know you could by a crib shaped like Cinderella's pumpkin for over $3,000!!! Get out! I suppose if I had money to burn I might..... No. That's just nuts!!
And now there are baby blankets you zip right onto baby so there is no need for a quilt. Oh, and things called Swaddlers? Wrapping babies like a stuffed sausage is comforting? Really?!!
(Sigh) Any tips any of you could share would be mighty appreciated. I have a lot of catching up to do!!
Thank you again for all the notes!! You girlies are the BEST!!
Warmest bear hugs,

I'm a little hesitant to share such happy news when so many TT'ers are struggling with their own unhappy times right now. I just can't keep the secret any longer.....please forgive the upcoming outburst.
I'M FINALLY GOING TO BE A NANA!!!

As I'm sure these three pages are full of positive responses.....I ditto what everyone else has said!!
Perhaps whoever it was that sent you a note was having a bad day or just doesn't feel that light about themselves. The easy targets, those with a good heart and a positive attitude are always on the hit list. Some people just have a hard time with the Suzy Sunshine's of the world. Isn't that sad?
Chin up girlie!

They're growing so fast!! It's a good thing I can't see the face on that little licorice stick...... The orangecicles are darling, but I have one of those! Max was nonplussed at the sight of his brothers and sisters. I'm sure if he saw one in the real, he'd be much more inclined to give a sniff.
Warmest and biggest bear hugs,
