I am so sorry...and the worst part is when people can't even be brave enough to say these thing to you and give you a change to defend yourself. (edited to say:  I don't think you should ever have to defend yourself against such mean things but should be given the opportunity to if you should chose to. bear_original )

I had something like that happen to me once with a co-worker to have her learn that I knew absolutely nothing about what she was accusing me of.  It had to do with our kids and she assumed since our sons knew each other I knew what she was talking about....the word ASSUME is just terrible.

These tragic events simply leave me speechless and with such a heavy heart I can't even begin to understand what has happened to our world.

I'll try...  bear_cry   bear_cry ... but it might just be tossing them in a hat and picking one.  It's SOOOOOOOOOOO hard even if I don't know them.  They are all just so wonderful.

I was just getting ready to edit my post to clarify that I was talking about the TOBY's.  Silly me forgot to say that in my original post and then thought whoopsie someone might not have a clue what I'm going on about.

I just received my issue of TB&F and I CAN'T...absolutely CAN NOT pick just ONE in each category.  NO WAY!!   There are way too many to choose this year...it just ain't gonna happen.   bear_grin

Anyone else feeling this way?  Well of course there are, silly question.

Good Luck!!!

I love Fried Green Tomatoes

I just love the scene where Kathy Bate's character is waiting for a parking spot and two girls cut her off and say something like "Face it, lady, we're younger and faster!" and Kathy's character backs up her car and rams their car about six times and then says "Face it, girls, I'm older and I have more insurance."

Like you could really get by with that in real life but wouldn't you just love to sometimes.   bear_grin   bear_grin   bear_grin

Like the way I spelled "flower" (flour)....I had just been outside in the garden looking at tulips blooming...you can tell where my head was...

What a goofball I am!!!

Let me know what your son thinks.  I'm anxious to hear...and how well it does freezing too.

Bobbie, I'm glad you like the recipe.  It's kind of funny that you already had it under another name.  Makes you wonder WHO really created it, doesn't it.  I have tried it with 1/2 brown rice flower and 1/2 white rice flower and really couldn't tell the difference.

Catherine, it really looks more difficult than it is.  The time is really in the rising of the dough and baking.  It's just one of those things you do on an afternoon or morning when you are home anyway and can be easily interrupted...work on a bear at the same time or some else crafty.   bear_thumb   bear_thumb

I ALWAYS double the recipe...that way I have two loaves!!!  I love it right out of the oven and I CAN HAVE GLUTEN!!!

YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!

shantell

Here you go...I've also saved this in a MS Word document and am happy to email it directly to anyone who would like it.  Just send me your email address.  Bobbie I've already emailed it to you.

I've tried MANY GF bread recipes and this one is by far the best I've come across.  I keep looking though.   bear_grin

Enjoy.

Butter Basted White Bread
Taken from Bette Hagman, More from the Gluten-Free Gourmet

2 cups white rice flour
1/2 cup potato starch flour
1/2 cup tapioca flour
2-1/2 tsp xanthan gum
2/3 cup dry milk powder (or 1/2 cup nondairy substitute)
1-1/2 tsp salt
1-1/2 tsp egg replacer (optional)
3 Tbs sugar, divided
2/3 cup lukewarm water
1-1/2 Tbs dry yeast granules
4 Tbs butter melted
1 additional cup lukewarm water
1 tsp apple cider vinegar or dough enhancer
3 eggs**, room temperature (I just put them in warm water until ready to use)

Combine flours, xantham gum, milk powder, salt, egg replacer (if used) and all but 2 tsp of the sugar in bowl of heavy duty mixer.  Use your strongest beater, not the bread hook.

Dissolve the remaining sugar in the 2/3 cup of water, and mix in the yeast.  Set aside.

In another bowl, combine the melted butter with the cup of water and add the cider vinegar.

Turn mixer on low.  Blend dry ingredients and slowly add the butter-water mixture.  Then add eggs one at a time.  This mixture should feel slightly warm.

Pour the yeast mixture in the bowl and beat at the highest speed for 2 minutes.  Place the mixing bowl in a warm spot, cover with plastic wrap and a towel and let dough rise for approximately 1 hour or until doubled.

Return dough to the mixer and beat on high for 3 minutes (dough will look more like thick cake batter or cookie dough then bread dough so don't be alarmed).  Spoon into 1 large loaf pan filling 2/3 full.  You may bake the remainder of dough into muffin tins or make all into rolls.

Let the dough rise again (covered)  until slightly above the top of the pan, 45 - 60 minutes.  Preheat oven to 400 degrees.   Here's the tricky part…the recipe says to bake for 60 minutes…but I only bake it for 45 minutes…60 minutes is WAY to long in my oven.  I bake the muffins for 22 minutes.  I also cover the bread/muffins after about 10 minutes with foil to prevent them from getting too brown on top.

To test if done…tap gently with your fingers.  The bread will have a slightly hollow sound.  Remove from pan immediately to cool.  I lay it on its side and it keep the top from settling too much in the middle.

**can be replaced with whatever egg replacement you would normally use in baking.  I have not done that but according to the cookbook...you can.

Well poo....I was sure I had seen the recipe on one of the online forums but for the life of me I can't find it now.  I can find a variation of it but that just won't do.   bear_grin

I'll type it up tomorrow and email it to you both.   bear_flower

Ilze,

My housemate is completely gluten free due to Celiac disease.  We have many recipes and one very good bread recipe.  Are you looking for something specific or just some general recipes?  I purchased Bette Hagman's The Gluten Free Gourmet and More from the Gluten Free Gourmet cookbooks.  Many of the recipes are wonderful and you can easily adapt them to exclude items such as dairy, eggs, etc.  Often times she gives substitutes within her recipes.

I'd be happy to email you the bread recipe.  We make it weekly because unfortunately they don't store well so you have to use it as you make it....but it's wonderful fresh out of the oven...YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!

Hugs,
Shantell

I have a sneeking feeling Jenny that people who are looking for YOUR bears have figured out exactly what they need to do to find them and they probably do type in "Jenny Johnson."  People are resourceful when looking for something or someone specific.  However, I agree, it's stinks like...well using your phrase do do!!!

I'll join in some tea...I hear my pot whistling NOW!!!

Hugs,

I seem to be showing up now...not sure when must have been sometime in the middle of the night here.  I always do a scheduled listing.  If they can't guarantee a START time then they need to change their format to stay END time not START time.  bear_angry  bear_angry   Six hours seems like a  really long delay but what do I know.

shantell

Mines not showing up either, nor in a search...shows up in my Ebay and I received a confirmation email from them that my scheduled listing as started but it's not there...it's been 30 minutes.  FRUSTRATING!!!   Clearly others have started AFTER mine...how does THAT happen?

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

My grandmother was a lefty that was forced to be a righty in school.  It's my understanding that they would force children to use their right hand...they would actually take the pencil out of their left hand and place it in their right one and make them use it.  However, she did almost everything else left handed.   She just turned 90 years old this February.

As far as head posing...I haven't a clue why I do what I do...I just do it.   bear_wacko   bear_wacko   No though it involved...don't go and confuse me, Dilu, by making me THINK about it now.   bear_grin   bear_wub   bear_wub

Oops...Oh I guess I should have read farther down...I see Laura already posted.

Thank you...I am very proud of her.  I've always thought she was a very pretty girl but I'm a bit biased as I should be.   bear_wub   She's one of those girls who doesn't take her looks very serious...she'll just roll out of bed, tosses her hair into a pony tail, grabs whatever happens to be tossed on the floor to put on and out the door she goes...and looks great...no makeup  SNOT!!!

YES, her father and I both really like her boyfriend.  He is just the nicest young man.  Very grounded...very dedicated to school...attending Oregon State University and currently hoping to get into the school of Pharmacy (although he has talked about changing into Physical Therapy).   He keeps Erienne grounded and focused as well.  We could not have asked for anyone better to have come into her life when he did...I say my thank you prayers for him everyday.

As far as the magazine cover....huge long shot.  It's just a big honor for Erienne to even be asked (sounds like she been nominated for an academy award).  There a MANY students at her school and they only asked four.  I'll keep everyone posted if and when it ever transpires.

HUGS,

shantell

I've mentioned a time or two that my daughter has been attending cosmetology school for the last year.  She's getting ready to graduate soon and earlier this week I participated in her last evaluation before her final and state boards.   She received the highest grade in her group.  I'm very proud of her needless to say.  THEN...yesterday, one of the instructors asked her to be one of four models for a competition the school is entering for the COVER of a well known hairdressing magazine (I can't remember the name).  Erienne will have her hair & make done and then she'll be professionally photographed and then entered into this competition which may end up on the cover of a this magazine.  Isn't that cool?

Her senior prom photo's were also used by the photography studio as promo's.  We were contacted after they were printed asking if we were interested in signing a release to use them for future promotional work.   We got a bunch of free pictures out of it.

Here's one...this is Erienne and her still very current boyfriend of 2-1/2 years...I adore this kid.

ErienneTravis2.jpg

Just wanted to share...I'm just so very proud of her.  She hates school...so this is a big accomplishment for her.

Hugs,

In answer to your question Daphne....YES, I did have someone ask me that question once...and YES she bought the bear anyway.   To be honest, I don't remember exactly why she asked...  bear_wacko   bear_wacko  ... it was some time ago.

I love FAO Schwartz too!!!   We had a blast there when we visited NYC several years ago.  Are you and Laura going to play on the floor piano like Tom Hanks and the other guy (the name escapes me) in BIG.  If so be sure to have someone takes photos for us.
