Barling Bears

Hi Becky,

Yes, she certainly brightens my day as I make a point of tuning in to the website each morning to see what the dynamic duo have been up to!  Hope looks so much like her mum  doesn't she and I find it so hard to believe how "old" she is now, this year has just whizzed by.  I'm so pleased that Hope and Lily are very much together these days, it all just makes your heart sing! bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub

Aw, beautiful Bella, she is such a clever dog, and she must be totally exhausted poor love. bear_wub  bear_wub

Thanks for posting the gorgeous photos of the new pups, feel sorry for the little ones that can't get near to Mum and the differences in sizes is quite amazing.

Congratulations of your new editions - you are going to have a lot of fun!

It has taken me a while to reply to this devastating news Dawn and I still really don't know what to say.  A horrible feeling went over my whole body when I read your news and my brain feels a bit numb, and as you say, it is such a terrible and cruel twist of fate.  What an incredible loss to the bear world and to the WSPA after all their immense work and effort to rescue and take care of these gorgeous creatures in the first place.

Nature can be very cruel .  We should however be thankful that these super creatures were able to escape the tortures inflicted on them for most of their lives and that they were able to eventually enjoy some freedom and a more loving and natural existence thanks to the extreme efforts of wonderful souls from WSPA.  Hopefully, lessons may be learned from this dreadful ordeal now that they know the area is under such flood threats.  But nothing will ever take away the hurt we will all feel from this sad outcome.

I can understand how you must be feeling Dawn, we are all extremely sad with you.

Hi everyone,

When I do a bear fair, I always pop a laminated sheet on my stand which advertises Teddy Talk.  I don't know where I found it on the website, but it shows about eighty thumbnail photos of various members' bears with a white "cut out" bear with written info on it.  Perhaps Quy remembers it and knows where I got this from!

I have just looked at the PDF that Quy has kindly popped on here, (many thanks Quy!)and I think that would be really good if it was printed out and laminated and possibly put on  an exhibitor's stall or table so that TT-ers can easily see it and introduce themselves too!  I don't always like pinning things to a shirt or top because you can completely ruin your clothes with safety pins or whatever but at least "stall  holders" could advertise the fact that they are TT-ers by using Quy's PDF.  I will certainly use this idea so please look out for me!

Whoops - just editing this to say I have found the sheet I was talking about - Look right at the top of this page and next to the Teddy Talk sign you will see nine boxes, click on the one which says 'FLYER" and there you will see the sheet I am talking about!!  Phew, my brain is working after all!  I've just printed out Quy's PDF and it looks good printed at 200%.

Right - I'm off!

Aw, well done Kimberly!  You sound as soppy as me!!!  Your lovely new dog is not the only one with a good heart, you have too!  I don't think I could resist either knowing that she was basically all alone and not in comfortable surroundings, although she was being looked after so I think you have done a fantastic thing by adopting her.

Have you decided on a name for her yet?

I hope you all have a wonderful time together and look forward to more photos of her and the new puppies!

You all take care now!

Oh crumbs Susan, I'm so sorry!  I have only just come across your thread and just can't believe the bad luck you are having.  My brain's mush at the moment and I cant think of any real good advice because I do not know the laws of your government regarding your house.  But I want to wish you all the luck in the world, I am sure things will work out for the better for you, hubby and doggies.

Of course, there is still dear old Rochester you know!!!  Ha!  My advice, don't come back to this country, it's going to the dogs in  a big way these days; I think you are far better off where you are.  You almost need permission to scratch your nose here (but then "elf & safety" would want you to wear a glove for protection!)

You will be fine I am sure Susan, but I'll still keep everything crossed for you and will be thinking of you.  Take care.

Hugs,

Hi there,

Aawww, thank you so much for your comments on my loony afternoon with that "bird"!!  I am pleased it made you all laugh!

I laugh every time I think about it!

Sue,,  your little episode in the loo tickled me too!  I'm pleased the bird was able to cool down and didn't look "flushed".   Sorry, my weird sense of humour!!

As for me, when my hubby came home last night, I pointed to the area of the garden causing my "mistake"  and asked him what he could see.

"Knot hole", he replied.

Some people have no imagination!!!

Hugs to all,

Hi everyone,

Well, I think it's just got to be my age or something, but I have a little amusing tale of what happened to me this afternoon which I think you will find funny   .....

We often have quite a lot of wildlife in our garden, especially plenty of young birds at this time of the year.  Well, after a trip to the dentists today, I emerged with a numb face and so, feeling a bit lost and not in the mood for bearmaking,  was at home looking at my garden from my kitchen window.  I suddenly spied a little dark shape at the end of the garden under a bush tucked up right against the fencing.  We have had a few young fluffy little birds in such places, being ordered to keep quiet while their parents rushed about looking for food for them.  Well, I didn't want to frighten the poor little thing off but was also worried because we have two local cats who are often parading around our garden and who also hide under bushes to try to catch the birds, so I decided that I would a mother hen and "baby sit" this little bird and make sure it came to no harm.

I watched this little shape for some time, wondering when on earth the parents would return to feed it, then thought about the cat situation again.  Maybe I should be prepared incase a cat came into the garden; should I try and remove the bird?; had I got a shoe box to pop it in for safety?; if I was too late, which vet was open tonight?; what would I feed it on if I needed to look after it overnight?  Questions, questions, questions!

Well, I kept watching on and off, and this went on for about an hour and a half.
I then had the brainwave of maybe taking a photo of it, was it a Thrush or a baby Blackbird that I could see?

So I got my camera, focused on the "bird", .........      strange, just couldn't see it properly    ...........      Checked again by eye, ... yes, it was still there.   Went back to look through the camera     .....      where the dickens was it???    No sign of any bird.

Then it dawned on me ........

I had been baby sitting and watching a knot-hole in the fencing all the time!!!!

Hugs and smiles,

Marilyn bear_flower
