Thanks for sharing the pics, looked great!
Congratulations everyone!
Great to hear it went well Melissa!
Annoying isn't it? I had this happen to my yahoo mailing list twice recently. I have now changed the settings so that I have to approve any new memberships.
Best of luck
Thanks Bronwen
Cheryl - thanks for your advice too - sounds like a good idea to get a few people's opinion on the pattern/instructions.
Jane - I actually just found an old Lisa Pay pattern in my stash - so I'll have a look at that! My designs are very simple in comparison, but I'll still write out the instructions with a beginner in mind.
Thanks everyone for your help
Thanks everyone for your replies
Ali, thanks for volunteering to run through one of my patterns for me! I might just take you up on that
I've only ever followed one pattern before personally, as I started designing my own bears nearly straight away!
Oh well, looks like of got some work ahead of me here - I'm planning to release my cat and horse patterns as well as my 2 inch bear one. Wish me luck!
Hi everyone,
I've been thinking of selling my patterns as I've had quite a few enquiries about it lately.
What's the best way to go about it? How much detail should I include in the instructions, ie. should I include photos of the different stages or is written instruction sufficient?
What great tutorials! I like the extra neck idea too - thanks for posting
Thanks for the link Sue Ann!
Could someone explain to me how to do a wobble jointed neck please? I'm sure it's simple but I've never attempted it before.
Thanks
What a cutie, I really love the colour of that mohair
Congratulations Lisa!! The article looks fantastic
Interesting topic. I sell my creations for less than I used to. I was making more money back when I first started bearmaking in 2003! even though my skills have improved and I think my bears are a lot better now.
Just fantastic! Congratulations
I'm so glad you decided to give her a body Sarah-Jane! She's turned out fantastic - well done
Choosing a baby name is so difficult! We had a shortlist and still didn't know right up until I had the baby. Hubby ended up choosing the name while I was recovering from the birth - I was too stuffed to object to his choice and just went with it
I like Chelsea or Cassie for a girl. But it's a personal choice, you'll find the right one, don't worry
Hi Catherine,
In the past I just used ordinary coloured pencils to do subtle shading on my minis, moisten the tip to give a darker effect.
Lately I have started using prismacolor pencils, they work really well.
Hope this helps
Jimjams is fantastic Paula!
My clown bear is still in the planning stage, hopefully soon I can get started on it!
Thanks everyone for your replies! Sorry, I should have said what size I was talking about - my bears are anywhere from 2 - 5 inches.
Might have to check out this micro stainless steel shot I think, the steel shot I have used in the past is the brown variety.
I like the idea of putting the shot in little "pillows" so they don't go everywhere.
Thanks
Hi all,
Just wondering whether other mini artists weight their bears, what you use and how you do it?
When I first started bearmaking I used to weight my minis with steel shot just by pouring a little bit into the body, but I'm sure there is a better way of doing it. I haven't been weighting my minis for a while now and wouldn't mind starting again, so just wondering how others do it?
Oh wow, what a beautiful park - does look like it's out of a fairytale doesn't it
What a little sweetheart!
Congratulations! I love your "Pet Detective", beautiful work, well deserved
Great photo! What an exciting time for you. Enjoy your belly while it's there - I just looooved having a preggy belly!
Gail, your 2nd and 3rd bears are just adorable  Inch and a half!!! Wow, you've done such a great job
