Hi,

It seems we can no longer get this in Australia as I have looked over the net everywhere, even emailing places who say they have it only to have them advise they have none in stock.  We used to be able to get Kunin Shaggy Felt but it seems no more!  Does anyone know of anything you could use that is easily available that would have a similar look/feel?

Fairybear

Thanks ladies.  That's what I thought about the food products.  Just wanted a quicker alternative than ordering online.

Fairybear

I have recently seen various indications on the net of people stuffing bears with kitty litter, pudding rice, barley, lentils etc.  I am aware kitty litter would not be very sensible but wondered about any other things you could use safely that would be easily available.  Aquarium gravel was another thing suggested by someone on this forum but that may be a little too big.

Does anyone have any ideas of what you could use rather than the usual steel shot etc?

She is very lovely, I love the colour and her adorable face.   bear_thumb

In the process of making a bear, what is the best/worst part for you?  I really don't like the cutting out part as it takes so long because you have to be so careful not to cut the fabric.  Surprisingly my favourite part is the pinning and overcast stitching.  I love sitting there watching a movie or something good on TV and putting it together ready to sew.  I find it really relaxes me.  In saying that you would think I would love to hand stitch my bears but for some reason I'm not overly fond of that either, takes too long to get to the finish.  Just curious and thought it might be a good topic of conversation.   bear_grin

Wow Sarah, aquarium pebbles, what a great idea!  Where I live I don't have ready access to anything but things I can order online and then I have to wait, and we all know how annoying waiting is.  I usually put my shot/pellets or whatever into part of a stocking doubled over so it does not split and then put it into the bear.  I'm gonna try the pebbles though, never thought of that, thanks!!  bear_thumb

Glad someone asked this question as I saw a pattern the other day that used kitty litter???  I was thinking that would not be a very good idea - has anyone ever used that or heard of that ?

What a perfect bear for a little girl - she is just lovely.  bear_wub

Not a professional bear maker, but I can't see anything wrong at all.  The face is great, wonderful expression, feet look fantastic.  All good!

Fairybear

WOW they are totally amazing!!!  bear_shocked  bear_thumb

Thanks ladies.  Sarah I use sinew and I find it really hurts my fingers when I pull it hard.  Is it better to use the three strands instead of one or two??

Thanks Donna, I think I understand and it seems to me this would be a good way to try.

Fairybear

Yes, I really like him.  Fantastic job.  bear_wub
