What a sweet guy! I can tell just from the picture that he would be extra awesome to hold. Great fabric choice!
She is so sweet! I love the placement of her bows!
I am so in awe! Awesome work- I particularly love the bunny. So well made and hugable!
Those are so fun and inspiring to look at! I spent an hour last night flipping through them. I love the rabbit artists I've seen in a few Hugglets photos I've stumbled across. Absolutely incredible. I had a toy when I was little that was my absolute favorite and those standing rabbits are like the evolved, awesome version of that toy. Once I have more skills under my belt I, too, aspire to making a Beatrix Potter style standing rabbit.
Ramble ramble. Anyway, great pics! Thanks so much for sharing!
I am so glad this came up! I was hoping to do a 'round face' for my next bear (and first self-made pattern) and I was plotting out how to go about it. I'm a huge newbie to sewing in general so I was a little unclear about the darts, but I *think*I have it down after some googling. I'm going to try...
Oh my he is precious! And so tiny! I can hardly imagine working this small!
Haha! That is a great way of thinking of it, Boop! Yes she is most definitely destined to be an indoor bear! My niece is the type for tea parties in the warm!
How wonderful and creative! I love steam punk! Did you do the hat and vest? Are they leather? They are fab-u-lous!
So adorable! The last one is my favorite!
Thank you so much, Boop! I'm excited for the next 999,999 bears, too!
I keep thinking maybe I should trim away the white left on the paw pads. I tried leaving the mohair on instead of trimming it because I had this idea to have the mohair coming between the toes but that didn't work out. I asked hubby if I should trim it off after the fact and he said no, but I can't decide if the random bits of mohair coming from around the paw pads looks sloppy or not...
Thank you very much, Boop! I love your needle felting, too! Eyes are my favorite thing to do.
This is Cupcake, my very first sewn teddy bear (and in fact, my first hand sewing project ever!) I am pretty pleased with her in spite of some construction errors (one leg is quite loose and the other turns in slightly and the stitching is a little less than expert.)
In photos she also had a little something going on on the right side of the bottom of her nose but I fixed that up after I noticed it in pics.
She was made using this kit and pattern by Lanie Edwards Murphy. I decided she needed a tail though.
Her nose, muzzle, and paw pads are needle felted and she's shaded with prisma markers (mostly light walnut which is my favorite color for doing everything, apparently including shading bears.) I elected not to weight her because she is destined for my 5 year old niece. She has a little needle felted cupcake with a raspberry on top for her to nibble when she gets bored.
SO much fun! I want to make a million bears!
Hello! I'm a new member and this is rather an old project, but I wanted to break the ice while I work on the finishing touches of my first bear. I chose "Sally" from my older needle felted projects because she seems most teddy-like.
Sally is needle felted and string jointed. Her hair is tibetan lamb wool and the rest of her is merino over a C1 core. She lives with my niece.
Her tail isn't as sparse as this image suggests. I am far from an expert in the photography department and I think that's an effect of poorly chosen backdrop.
Oh my goodness, he is precious! Were his 'wrinkles' air brushed? And what soulful eyes he has!
