Yes think there's lots to consider isn't there ! Now I've studied it I think there were a few factors , definitely the leg positioning and also the weight thing , as you say counter balance , maybe weight in the feet may help . Think a degree in engineering may help !
Thanks Becky
I think it may have been the legs I think they were just slightly too far forward . It was a new body shape I was trying out and it had quite a big bottom , that probably didn't help either. Thanks Jenny
I'm confused.. because after encountering numerous problems with bear making , eyes , noses , ears etc i never have had problems with bodies ... until now ! For some reason my bears have started to topple backward when sitting down even though I've given them a "bottom" . I though maybe its because of the leg placement ?
Any ideas anyone cos I can't figure it out as it hasn't happened before ?!?!
What an absolute sweetie !
Thank you Jenny and Becky .. I knew I should have gone by my instinct , which is basically what you have both said ! It's common sense isn't it really ! Ah well I'll have another go !
I have managed to dye just one piece of mohair using Rit dye and following the instructions which tells you to 'simmer ' the mohair .. but I felt it made it feel a bit like boiled wool , rather thick and not so soft.
I actually wondered if you could just bring the water to boiling point , then put the mohair in .. but maybe the colour wouldn't ' set ' then ?
Has anyone else had the same problem or is it just me ? Oh and I used hair conditioner to try and soften it .. which it did .. slightly , but still wasn't as soft as I'd like. Am I being a clot ?
Yes Paula I agree , you do need different scissors for each job. I have to say I do like my second pair of hairdressing scissors for sculpting and have the small embroidery Fiskars as well. I've got a good pair of dressmaking ones which are very sharp but think I'm going to get a separate pair for cutting the faux fur as I'm sure that's what blunted my others. Still at least that's a lesson learned !
Yes I looked at surgical scissors also , problem is there's just too much choice, and as for the whetstone oh dear , even more confusion !! Thanks anyway Heather !
I've never heard of that one ! But yes I'll certainly have a look at that , thanks Katy !
Hi Katy ,
I've never seen the Janome ones I have to say , but at least they're a good deal cheaper than Fiskars !
I really think they have a beauty all of their own !
Ooh Debra you're very brave using sandpaper , but I'll definitely give it a try with my blunt one cos I have nothing to lose with those . A lady told me she cuts silver foil to sharpen hers with ... but sadly , it didn't work for me ! Thank you Debra
She is just beautiful !!!
Of course sensationalism will always sell whether it be newspapers , fashion or art . The status quo in comparison is boring .
Therefore these people have a result , a very clever marketing ploy , and will make money, so for them , job done.
Still makes me sad to see though.
I'm with you Leanne , totally . I don't know why but when I first saw this bear it hit a raw nerve with me . Any parent well mostly anyway , tries to show their children the good in things and I'm not being holier than thou here , but what sort of message does this type of thing send out. I remember when all the violent games and videos first came about and people said that they had nothing to do with the increase in violent crime , which I still cant accept . Not that I'm saying there'll be an outbreak of violence against teddies, and I can sort of see the the artistry in it but the suicide teddy , I'm sorry I don't get it and we all talk about staying positive in our lives , I fail to see any positivity in this .
I apologise to anyone if I have offended them with my comments here , that wasn't my intent , and I know we have to live and let live , but I fail to see the good in this .
Gorgeous !
Just thought I'd add a little tale.. weve just come back from a few days in Portugal .. where ,I treated myself to a lovely reel of a perfect sort of neutral shade of cotton that would have cost about £15 here I would think ... only to find that our Cavapoo , Bertie, has just demolished it . I didn't know whether to laugh or cry , but after watching him skulk away , totally ashamed , well that's what I'm kidding myself anyway I couldn't help but laugh !
Why is it these dogs know exactly what expression to use , I reckon they practice in the mirror ! Oh my lovely cotton! As my niece said , you wouldn't have got away with that if you were ugly !! He would have with me though cos I'm a soft touch !
Yes I agree with all of you , it's the bigger ones that have gone dull on me and yes I have to say I used them a lot on the acrylics and I did wonder if that had anything to do with it . I did start to use my old pair of hairdressing scissors and they have coped much better with the acrylics. I've just bought some tiny Fiskars now , the embroidery ones so think they definitely will be used just for sculpting with and I have to say they seem fantastically sharp. Thanks everyone it's good to hear I'm not the only one who has had problems !
I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar problems to me with scissors ?
I bought some Fiskars scissors thinking that they were a good reliable make , and at first they were absolutely fine , but then and I don't know why , they went as blunt as anything ! So I happened to see a Fiskars scissor sharpener which even if it didn't work I had nothing to lose , only to find it made them even worse !
So now I'm wondering did I actually get the genuine thing or as I bought them from eBay , were they just copies ?
Really can't see the point in that at all .. Just done for reaction I reckon
He is adorable , and I love his dungarees !
Such a cute Fox !
Very cuddly, beautiful !
Love him , he's gorgeous !
Love him!
