how lovely!! i need to start putting ads in magazines...i am so glad to see it works!!
the little blue paws are sooooo cute!! and it is a good thing you are getting requests! yay!!
so i tried another pattern i drew out after nevada city. i like how she turned out...we'll see if the people in new bedford do too...
protein bars, something to sew when things are slow, coffee, & advil (when i remember). i really should remember to pack handi wipes, but i often forget!
oh how wonderful!! you did such a beautiful job!! best of luck with the show!
i admit, i haven't read through everyone's responses, but i wanted to say that for me i cut my calories (which is what weight watchers does too), and for the first 2 weeks i was hungry. but i stuck to it, and sure enough the hunger pains stopped. i also started exercising regularly and since january i have lost just over 10 lbs! i still have 20 to go, but it was very exciting, and seems to be working really well for me...maybe it can work for you too!
oh man! it just rained like crazy down here in rhode island. those pics of the snow are amazing!! doesn't old man winter know it is spring???
html basics is something really handy to know, but i actually took a course to learn dreamweaver
which made all the difference! dreamweaver is great program and i use it for everything including
auction templates! i do use html all the time, though. it is all about memorizing tags, which is actually
super easy! i think all of you ladies could learn it super easily.
finally something i know a little more about here!
charge $50. if they are still around by day 3 then drop the price, but i really think $50 is totally reasonable for those guys.
I charge $30 for my owls:
they sell at that price no problem, and they are only 5" tall.
in fact, if i do make any money at NC and you still have some i am totally getting one!!
i take a break, and do something totally different for a while. like, if i can't sew things that turn out the way i want, then i sit and draw for a few days until the block passes.
hey thanks everyone!!
and sarah, now you have seen my other crazy stuff! i like doing it, but i LOVE making bears. my secret dream is to someday move into bears only...but i think that is a ways off...
I took a set of the doorknobs that was on my old bedroom door, I always thought it looked like a diamond, then when Grandma passed away I took one of her doorknob sets, that led to their backporch
i have my grandmother's baking pans! i miss her, but when i make brownies or bread in the pans i took i feel closer to her somehow. i also have some of her thread, and fabric too.
i am sorry they tore down the house, i imagine it was filled with so many memories!
well, i am a newbie, but it usually takes me 15 hours, sometimes 20. but i spend a good deal of time on the outfits. the bears themselves usually take me a day, maybe 8 hours. i have found with any stuffed critter i have made the more i do it the faster i get at it. i am curious how long it takes some of the others too!
hee hee! i am super happy with this cowgirl bear. the outfit still needs
some snaps for closures, and maybe if i have time some beadwork on the vest,
but overall she is all done! you can't see it in the picture, but the fabric on
the dress says all sorts of things including, "arizona rabbit, jack the kid". that
is why i put the carrots on the hat, and i plan on making this one a felt bunny.
anyway, if you are coming to Nevada City, you can see her there!
i am so excited to meet you!! i will be all by my lonesome at the table...i hope i have nice neighbors that might watch my table for minute so i can get a chance to wander for a bit...the imps are so lovely!!! i want to squish one in person!
wow! your attention to detail amazes me!! very very adorable!!
well, i don't have kids, so i am certainly no authority, but being on the younger side, knowing people who got such piercings in high school, you can take a little solace in the fact that in all likelihood she will get tired of it and take it out.
awww! he is really cute! bzz bzz! i have my panda listed for the second time now...no bids. oh well!
the way i look at it, they are waiting for the perfect home, and when it is right, they will find their way there!
yay! you were so cute!! i am so excited for you!
yeah, i relisted mine, and it didn't show up for hours! you would think something that was already in there would show up right away...but i guess not!
oh my gosh! you guys are so sweet!
and i promise to come prepared to the new england show too daphne! i have been sewing double time to make sure i have enough done.
that is great to know! i will try and make up some media packs.
i just worry sometimes my bears are too weird looking...but that
is great advice daphne, "Don't wait to be 'found'!".
you all make me so happy i found these boards! thanks!!
and chrissi, your bears are amazing! i am sure it will pay off for you!
i have seen that many of you place ads in the teddy bear magazines, i was curious, does this help with your marketing & drive more business to your sites? what has your experience doing this been like? was it worth the cost?
this inquiring newbie would like to know...
I love having a website AND having a blog. I keep a blog so I can "muse" and show non-bear work I do, or show off pictures of my family (like my sister Paulette who is dying and whom I wrote about in the last week,) which I don't think fits as well on a website, at least the way I've conceptualized MY website. Others might conceptualize their websites in a different way than I do, and have a personal page or be more personally generally in their posts. That's okay too!
For me, it's just a great personal, stylistic fit to have a blog so I can muse and digress and explain and connect with others, and a separate website to advertise and market and sell.
i feel very much the same way, although i like to use mine as a marketing tool too.
that is the beauty of blogging, it can be for whatever you would like! dealing with constant
updating of my sites can be overwhelming, but making a post with my thoughts or showing
what i have been up to keeps me current with my customers. that is why i link to my blog
directly on my site.
Where do we draw the line? All this internet stuff... how does one get anything in 'real life' accomplished? Am I sounding like an old fuddy-duddy who is resisting the future? Resisting technology? I don't mean to, really!!! I wouldn't have sold 18 Mimzy bunnies this weekend if it wasnt' for my website! I just find more value and meaning in my 'in the flesh' relationships, my 'in the fur' pets and my 'in the fur' teddy bears! How am I supposed to have time for them if I keep getting into more internet stuff?????
blogging is not for everyone.
it does take time, but i have found it to be such a great marketing tool, and an outlet for me too. i am lucky i guess,
no kids or anything to take up my time in that way. you certainly shouldn't feel pressured to take part. i actually stopped
visiting boards like these for several months and chose to blog instead when i was so incredibly busy around christmas.
you should do what interests you! i just enjoy showing off things i work on, and getting the instant feedback. it makes me
feel like i am part of a community, and i connect with people across the world i wouldn't meet otherwise, but posting and
commenting on boards like these does the same thing!
