Play with all of my stuffed animals......that was my favorite childhood activity. I would line them up and marry them off.....some combinations were quite funny.......Ellen D (a duck) married John Jr. ( a monkey) and their baby was Pinky (an elephant!)

As my father always says, I may grow older, but I refuse to grow up!

Daphne & Deb, see you Saturday! Can't wait.....we are leaving on Thursday morning!

TAG YOU'RE IT!

I received notice of this story from Animals Asia. Not only are they helping out the Moon Bears in China and now in Vietnam, but also working on saving dogs and cats. If you want to help them, go to the Animals Asia website.

If a bear appeals to me, (and I can afford it) I will buy the bear from anyone, name known or not.................

I have used glass beads in some of my animals, haven't sent any over seas, but the glass beads worked very nice as stuffing. There is a company I went to locally and got a gallon paint can size full of the beads.................

So much fun! I don't know anything about the subway system......the last time I was in NYC, we did take the subway, but we were right in Manhattan.

I kidnapped my hubby a few years ago for his birthday, but we went the opposite direction! I rented a cottage in the Adirondacks and we spent a quiet weekend away from it all hiking and enjoying the outdoors. He would not be impressed with a NYC trip with shows........

Enjoy the celebration!

I will be taking my parents home this Sunday. They live in Melbourne, Florida. Is there anyone who lives near Melbourne that would like to get together? Perhaps for lunch or a mid-afternoon snack? We will be leaving Rochester, NY on Sunday, probably not arriving until Tuesday night, and I am not sure yet when I will be flying back home. I just thought it would be fun to meet someone.

Heat, wilt......hot flashes (or power surges) are the worst..been having them for about 10 years now, my Mom says they never end! Joy, joy  bear_sad

Just heard on the news that 14 out of the past 15 months my area has had warmer than usual weather....the past 5 days have been over 90 F! I was out in a field all day Saturday and Sunday for a craft show in the Adirondacks, thank goodness for the breeze coming off the lake. Tried my hardest to stay in the shade, but when people approach the booth, you have to be out talking to them, so not much shade there.

I convinced my hubby last Thursday to go into the cellar and bring up the 2 room airconditioners....what a lifesaver! Not cold, but definately much cooler than the outside, especilly when we turn on the ceiling fans! Then to make things more hot for me, I am taking my parents home to Florida on Sunday!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand the heat! That's why I live in the North!!!!

Hope everyone has a cool, comfortable day, wherever you are.     bear_smile  bear_wub

I make Teddy bears (and lambs, bunnies and Penguins) because I love all stuffed animals. The philosophy behind my business is that Every Person needs a stuffed animal, no matter of their age or anything else, and I set out to make soft, cuddly creatures,  that anyone can afford so they can know the peace and joy of having a friend to call their own.........

I am switching to the Pearl Cotton from the floss, I think it looks nicer. I have a bunch of the 'cards' for storing the floss on.... I spent last night winding 6 colors of Pearl onto the cards......no winders, just used my feet to hold the thread, and wound it by hand........hubby kept laughing at me, no offer of help, just laugh......

Brenda, I live just south of Potsdam....about 45 minutes from O'gburg. This coming weekend is the Potsdam Summer Fest, if you are interested in traveling, I will have my bears there, some will even be picnicing in the bed of my hubby's '49 Chevy pick up.....
To define the term Micro-Burst (as I understand it) it is strong wind gusts very similar to tornados, but there is a difference. I don't think micro-burst winds are circular like a tornado.  They are not fun to be in and neither is a tornado..........

Hi, I have been away for about 10 days, with my Girl Scouts on a trip to New Hampshire (what a good time, even with all the rain) then at camp for a long weekend............So, where is Andy? is he making his way to California, having a good time, being a good bear? Give him a big hug from his mommy! Just went through 10 pages of posts and didn't see anything about him......

Glad to hear that you and the cat are OK. Sounds like a Micro-Burst that hit. I'm not too far south of you.....a friend of mine had some trees blow over at her house, nothing too serious. We were at camp and had strong winds, but nothing like what you described (at least this time, we were at camp when the Micro-Burst came through about 10 years ago) Good neighbors are the best! Hope everything gets cleaned up soon.

I got a very good reminder yesterday. Life has gotten very busy lately. Yesterday David and I took the motorcycle to Lake George for Americade one of the largest, if not the largest, motorcycle rallies in the US. We left home at 8:00 AM on Wednesday and travelled South into the Adirondack Park. Being on a motorcycle (and not driving) allows for a much nicer view of what is around. I have lived in New York State my whole life, and was reminded and amazed about why I love living in the Northern reaches of the state.

We started out in the coolness of the early morning sunshine. I began to relax as we traveled south, and started to look around. It is so nice being in the open and able to see all around without blind spots because of dirty windows, or window frames. As we went around each curve, the new sights were wonderful. There was the one where I looked to one side and saw open field with some water and mud, basically a bog. Another where I looked in front and saw the mountians one after the other, gaining in height. As I watched the side of the road, looked at the thick woods, I couldn't help but think about all the wild animals that live there. How do get through the woods that I can barely see into? Then the wide expanse of the lakes.......calm, empty (no boats) and peaceful. As I looked harder, I could see the birds soaring overhead, Bald Eagles and Osprey, as well as the common Crows and Ravens. The crows and Ravens amaze me in the way they can still fly even when some of their wing feathers are missing. (I have to say that for the 150 miles we drove from home to Lake George, we were on main roads through the mountains, by no means a highway! We went through 4 towns, 3 traffic lights....... about 20 miles on the Interstate.) I saw a couple of Woodchucks, Turkeys and chipmunks. Fortunately the larger animals stayed in the woods!

We had a good time in Lake George, checking out all the vendor booths and making some purchases. The main focus was to get new tires for the bike, which we did as well as new rear brakes. I got new deerskin gloves for riding and a new shirt. David bought other stuff for the bike. Things were going great until mid-day when the rain started. And it rained, and rained! So, we went to the indoor area and purchased new rain suits (neither one of us have one any more....it has been about 20 years since we rode bikes) 6:00 PM the bike was done, so we donned the rain suits and started the long 3 hour drive home. Wet, cold....not the best for riding a bike. Then we got off the interstate. Once again the beauty of the area hit me. Even though it was getting dark and it was raining, the mountains still looked so beautiful. Some mountain tops completely covered by clouds, others with fingers of clouds coming from the mountain tops. We made 2 stops for gas, and 1 for dinner and finally arrived home at 11:00 PM. The rain stopped about 1/2 way home, and it looked like no rain at the house! The moon even came out.  Our dog was VERY happy to see us, and I was glad to get off the bike and stretch the legs....and get warm and dry!

Trying to look into the woods, following the roads that curved everywhere, not a straight stretch for more than 1 mile, made me think about the Native American Indians, the explorers and settlers that came to the area.....how did they ever find there way, or even think that here was a place they could settle?

If there is anyone, anywhere that is looking for a "secluded' vacation spot, try the Adirondacks. There are a few bustling towns, but lots of nature, beauty and solitude. This is truly God's Country......

Thanks for letting me share..... Sorry there are no pictures. Didn't take the camera, and I don't think I would do the scenery justice....

How do I find out what kind of bear he is? There are no tags....the fur is quite shabby, bare spots....not sure I want to even surface wash him.

BUT! I used his shape and style as an inspiration and am going to make others for my workshop bears. I almost finished one yesterday....will take pictures of him and post it sometime!
