oh my goodness about your mother that's dreadfull was she okay after the Cancer? did they catch it in time ?? !! yep they are human i try to make allowances for that but there is only so many deaths you can take in your family before your trust , faith and respect completely vanishes in them, BUT saying that i do belive our GP's are just INSANE or something and i always think "this time will be different" with each occasion. one day they might prove me right . my sister when she was 12. had appendicitis and they burst, the GP turned around and said to my Mam when My Mam said she suspected it was her appendix the GP said "she's not in enough pain to have appendicitis" sure enough gets her to the hospital they burst as they were removing them. makes you laugh !
It sounds like you have a wonderful GP. yep i think its great you can ask quetions and she is helpful and stuff. ours are the complete opposite!!
Ohh dentists. i have no horror stories with them , do you ?
I agree there Helena about checking things out before you got the GP my physiotherapist once told me that is a good thing to do even though Dr's dont like it, he once said to me "dont tell them you found information on the internet, they dont like it".. my bad experiences dont end with the GP they have been carried on through hospital after hospital Dr's aswell I could write a book that would shock and make people say "that cant possible be true" but it is and has made me the way i am now !
One time i went to my GP about a back problem and he simply sat there and said to my face "well what do you want me to do about it" so i answered back "you are the doctor. you tell me" and he said "if you dont like it the door is over there" and that is word for word, i really cannot visit these people and as much pain as i am in, i dont care i still wont go i'll take the pain LOL!
My Dentist on the other hand is a GEM! hehee so it's not all doom & gloom
I'm in the UK Daphne, I avoid Dr's like the plague honestly unless im dying i wont go !
oh my word !! a black widow killed your bunny how Dreadful !
So sorry to hear about your loss
hehehe thanks for the laugh Penny,i neded it :D
Oh yes, i can't not drool over my choccie :P
Our Dr's are beyond pitiful tho they have no clue seriously. 9 years ago my brother had an absess in his chest wall cavity, pneumonia, septecemia. a hard lung and a broken rib & collar bone and what did our Dr's say he had when we called them out?? a BRUISE !! can you believe that ??.. he died 9 weeks later aged 25 so i really do not trust or like my dr's at all and i really detest going there and i have no faith in them :(
15 years ago My Grandfather also had Cancer of the spine, the leg and the prostate. our dr's (same ones as my brother) said "nothing wrong with him, he is pulling the wool over your eyes" and he died too, i can't trust them with anything and urgh, i just find it SO hard going to the doctors :(
And the list of blunders goes on and on with our Dr's
GO TO THE DOCTORS !!!!
It should'nt keep happening Pipa, everyone should be able to drool over choccies
Get it checked sweetie
Penny - (Auntie Pen knows best)
Yep i get No pain at all when i dont eat or go anywhere near food hehe
I did a search once about it. there doesn't seem to be much you can do apart from like you said massage it through to it clears !!!
I've just checked out the links you sent in, Looks like you need to get the stones removed if that is what the blockage is, i wonder what is blocking mine. mine comes and goes, it can be weeks and weeks bfeore it flares up again , interesting, I might go see the Dr if it comes up again where you can feel the swelling see what they recommend !!
No, not for me anyway...... once your glands are no longer stimulated into producing saliva the pain starts to go away. So, I've never had the pain long enough to try meds. Pipa's got to find a way to massage the gland so the saliva drains.
Pipa... have you done an internet search to learn about this? I wonder if there is anything on www.webmd.com?
Hi SueAnn I've never tried any pain meds, so i dont know how effective they would be, :)
Do the standard pain medications help at all? Like Tylenol, ibuprofen, Aleve . . . or whatever?
Oh My Daphne i am SO pleased someone else has the same LOL! doesn't it hurt SO BAD ???
That's what i did once. pushed the side of face trying to clear the bloackage ( i saw a lady do that once on a medical programme and she said it helped her too. she had grit in hers tho) Yep it does hurt but it does tend to help sometimes too, i couldnt do that this time though it was too sore to touch
Nope they never have any simple remedies unfortunatley :/
Mine is always on the left side
I certainly will let you know if i find anything helpful about it. i wont see my Dr tho because last time i went when i had bad leg pain and was doing alot of travelling at the time the Doc just laughed at me like i was stupid and said "we all get aches and pains" and that was that.. i would agree if i was in my 80's but not when i was in my 20's !!! :o
However what we must have is partial bloackage and it should clear once the bloackage passes through. if we get a complete blockage i think the only way to cure it is surgical removal (i saw them do this once on a medical programe, they insert a long needle into the gland through your mouth and remove the blockage..) the only scary thing that scared me was they told the lady NOT to move while they did it because it could paralyze her face EEK!!
PIPA!!!
YES!! This happens to me!!! It's awful and not the way I prefer to diet!!
It is indeed a blocked saliva gland, no question! My doctor told me so, years ago. I don't recall him having any magic remedies though.(Do they ever??)
It usually passes after a few minutes of agony so I can eat. It's always the right side and all I have to do is THINK about food.
I have found that applying pressure with two fingers at the source and slowly massaging down just under the jaw bone toward the center of the chin helps to release the saliva. Yes, the pressure will hurt but if it helps to relieve the pain quicker it's worth it! Maybe it will work for you!?
I'm sorry you have this. If you do go to the doctors and learn anything helpful do let me know!
Daphne
Hi Carolyn. i had my dental 6 month check up only about a week ago and he said my wisdom teeth are fine. no infection because if it was it would hurt all the time not just when i eat or think of eating however it is alot better today woohoo whatever the blockage was it must have passed through the gland now so I'm plesed about that! i just hope it stays down for awhile now
Oh Pipa - how horrible for you that you would be feeling like this - no good at all.
Do you think that it could be your wisdom teeth or an ear infection or something like that?
Please go and see your Doctor because you sound like you are in agony and need
to get yourself sorted out so that you can feel well again.
Best of luck and take care of yourself.Hugs
Carolyn
Hi Shantell, i purchase my thread from a sewing shop that sells all sorts of threads and they have every colour under the sun so i buy the colours to match the stash of fabric i have in and then i know i always have some thread to match !
Awe that is really nice to get sweet emails. great Panda too
Wow i hope your back is okay now it sure must have been terrible for you
Yep the food that tastes the best is the worst for us
hee hee Nah i grew up around straw fields, played on the bales of hay as a kid many a times. jumped in piles of straw and all sorts so i know how scratchy and rough that stuff is LOL!
Okay Pipa, we won't ask. he he he
Matilda, it sure is prickly and you can get some nasty splinters too. :(
Shari,
That cow is "Mariah The Dairy Queen". She was in TB abd F in an article about what bear artists do when they are not making bears. I was thrilled they put her picture in. I also made the throne that she sits on. Also, she is wearing the earrings I wore when I got married. She now reins high on a plant shelf overlooking our kitchen and living room. She is not filled with staw, but she'd like to nibble on some.
Thanks Clare. oooh it does hurt sooo bad it's one of the worst pain's i've felt!! i've had myself some soup and i managed to get some cookies in Wooo it feels a bit better than it did this afternoon so with a bit of luck it will be gone tomorow. it was there yesturday it's never lasted more than 2 days before in the past so here's hoping it's gone completely by tomorrow ! Seems to happen more frequent tho as time goes by. ah well. just need to keep an eye on it, i dont think you can do anything about it without medical intervention which i aint having!
Will do Judi, I've had it before and it went away within 2 days so i'm hoping it will this time, wish there was something you could do to help it tho hehe. actually i found if i stretch my neck to the side while eating it doesn't hurt so bad not an easy task but if it helps
she turned up drunk, wow !! and now you have another one to deal with, sorry to hear that! what a nightmare !!!
Soup seems to be a magic cure doesn't it ? :D
if it doesn't go away within a few days i will HAVE to go get it checked out at the Dr's. but i will suffer first and pray it goes away on it's own
OH MY WORD Helena that is just what i did before i saw this post. took some soup in a straw!! i feel like a toddler again hehe hey it's a great way to lose weight this. no need to staple your jaw or staple the stomach just get yourself a blocked saliva gland
Oh no, i can't go and see a Dr, if you knew our Dr's you would understand i cant go there!
Sounds like a great find Donna, i would love to know how you get on with using it for backdrops !!!
Virtual Hugs for you Shelli. i saw this wonderful email the other day that was a great picker upper i wish i still had it. it was really simple but made you think positive like
be thankful for your dirty clothes, because it means you have clothes on your back
and things like that it was really good
Chocolate is normally my cure for evrything. my mother once said to me "you are the only person i know that can be feeling sick and reach for the chocolate" but i cant even eat my chocolate and that's bad for me because im a certified choc-o-holic
It's defintley the gland . your saliva glands are placed around there aswell. behind the ear just at the top of your jaw, I've had it before but it went away and as i think of food or goto eat food i can feel the saliva moving and thats when i get the pain. it's totally fine as long as i dont eat or think of food apart from if you press your finger into the spot it hurt's like the dickens i would eat through the pain but it's too excruciating to do that (i tried) LOL
okay this is totally off topic of bears but i thought maybe someone out there has had this problem before or knows anythig you can do about it!
it seems i have a blocked saliva gland. right behind the ear there, i can feel the little lump where the gland must be up, only i cant eat a darn thing today because the pain oh my is like nothing ive ever felt before. you see i only get the pain when i attempt to eat (because the glands are producing saliva when you think of food or go to eat food) so i can't eat and im STARVING
anyone ever had this problem before ?? it flares up now and then but it normally goes away, but boy i dont know how much more i can stand it and i need food
ah well. back to the bears i guess. I've got body parts laying on my desk wanting to be stitched up and an empty tummy that needs stuffing might keep my mind off food...
3 hours   i cant imagine how awful that msut have been !!!!!!!!
Oh no, sounds like a crappy day, Hope the rest of the weekend gets better !! The only way is up ! :D
I went to work in the salon today at 7.15 am...did a full list of clients....had a huge crisis which was dreadful..and, suffice it to say, I ended up sacking someone which has made me feel ill. I loath and detest confrontation but in this case it had to be done.
So now I am home and I am going to sew up some teddy legs and then my daughter is coming round with our grand-daughter Elizabeth who is the apple of my eye...she's four months old!!
Pretty stressful day.....
Jenny
