Sounds like it was a fun show......Did the bears get to taste the wine? Hope not, they probably aren't used to it and it would make them very silly I'm sure.
Thanks for the pictures!

Love the puppy picture.....and the sentiment! Never thought of Hello that way........
Hello to you
pandamac
Can't wait to see the little guy when you finally get a picture of him. I find that when it is sunny out, I set the bears on a table covered with a length of fur (different color than the bear) inside the garage out of direct sunlight and take the picture there without flash.....sometimes I have to lighten or darken the background, but it usually works.
When I read the topic of this post, I was shocked! and Horrified, but now that I read it, I understand.......\

Andy has left New Hampshire and is on his way to Florida. While in New Hampshire, he went tree climbing, visited Temple Mountain, got to meet a Large wood carved bear (probably chain saw carved) I received pictures, but can not open them after I saved them on to my computer........ Gremlins are always at work!

How fun! Was he playing Teddy Bears Picnic?
Say NO????? never........Daphne, you could always work on the dog the way I worked on my daughter's prom dress several years ago..... Day #1, laid out the pattern, day 2, cut 1/2 the pieces, day 3, cut the rest, day 4, sewed 1 seam only, day 5 to.........whatever, sewed only 1 seam a day! I knew if I did any more each day, I would do something wrong and get mad and ruin the whole thing, so it took me over a month to make the 1 dress! But it was worth it.....she was happy and I did not get upset and it turned out beautifully. (sorry, no pics, it was before digital cameras!)
It will take a long time to get the dog done that way, but it is much less nerve-wracking, and you can say you did something on it everyday!
Good Luck with it!

For a real fur coat that I was making a bear out of, I sprayed Febreeze on it, left it outside for a day, then I put it in a bag with a lavendar sachet. I also stuffed the bear witht he lavendar when it was made. The remainder of the coat that I still have no longer smells.
The lavendar and Febreeze was suggested by a dry cleaning business to get the moth ball smell out of the coat. Good luck!

Allow me to introduce Franzi. She is an 8 inch tall Moon Bear (20 cm) sitting on her haunches made from silky plush, with needlefelted nose and paw pads. (She will have a collar before she travels) Franzi is looking to travel overseas to spread the word about the plicht of her real-life cousins in Asia. She will be leaving home on May 1. Anyone overseas that would like to have Franzi come visit, please let me know by PM or email.
I had to remove safety eyes on a bear I was making because I didn't like the position. I used a hair dryer on the disk, and it came off without too much struggle, and I was able to re-use it after........Need to have the blow dryer on high heat, but low speed.......give it a try to see if it works for you!
Good luck......pandamac
Last word I got from Andy is that he is getting ready to leave New Hampshire and head to visit Flordia........get ready Chrissie.........He sounds like he has been having so much fun, I wish it was me traveling and visiting all the places he is going to!

Hopping that every bunny has a hoppy easter!

Thank you all for your input. Here (hopefully) are pictures of the bears I made with the lining as the ribbon with the initials on it.
For those of you who make bears from Vintage Fur coats, I have a question. When the coat has initials in the lining, do you put the initials on the bear somewhere? do you make the lining into a ribbon? People ask me to include the initials somewhere on the bear and sometimes it gets very difficult because they are too big. The last couple of bears I have made, I take the lining and make it into a ribbon around the neck and include the initials there. It is a pain in the butt!!!!!! Hope someone else has a suggestion..............

love the bear Marion.........looks nice and huggable!
M&Ms........pop 3 or 4 in the mouth and suck on them to get them to melt!
Dark Chocolate....my favorite! No chocolate with anything in it...I am a purest on my choc. I have been known to eat a full bag of Hershey's Chocolate Morsels....when they are in the pantry, I hear them calling me............ ....... oops, gotta go answer them!
Why can't my cholesterol medicine be chocolate flavored?????/
So, the next logical question is: What part of a chocolate Easter Bunny do you eat first? It has been so long since I had one, but I think I sued to break it up into pieces so I didn't know which part I was eating first.
Hi Arkalem.....don't know where you are from. This looks like a bear my daughter received for her first Christmas in 1979. She named him Tubby because of the chubby tummy. He was purchased by my brother in Texas. I will email her and see if she still has the tag on her Tubby Bear. (just a note, when we received the bear, he had only 1 eye. My brother decided to send it anyway, because if he waited until after he took it back to the store, we would never get the bear. I think it is the only thing my daughter ever received from that Uncle.)
Have you thought of trying to make one like it yourself?
Sorry Eileen, I never heard that creation story you're talking about. Would love to see it if you ever find it.

This is an email sent to me quite a while ago. Thought since many of us have some kind of pet, you might enjoy reading this.
A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to "Where do pets come from?"
Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."
And God said, "No problem! I will create a companion for you that will be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."
And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve. And it was a good animal.
And God was pleased.
And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail...
And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."
And God said, " No problem. Because I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG."
And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them. And they were comforted.
And God was pleased.
And DOG was content and wagged his tail..
After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."
And God said, "No problem! I will create for them a companion who will be with them forever and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration."
And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.
And CAT would not obey them.
And when Adam and Eve gazed into CAT's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.
And Adam and Eve learned humility. And they were greatly improved.
And God was pleased.
And DOG was happy and wagged his tail.
And CAT didn't care one way or the other.
Wow, I was not able to get on line for the past 3 days, boy is there a lot to catch up on. Maybe it will teach me not to get on and look at things everyday! Today is the day to stay inside and catch up on TT news. It is snowing outside right now....and to think we had 70 degree weather on Friday! cold and damp today, so I hope to stay inside all day long!!!!!! and read TT posts. I don't reply much, but do read everything.

I received an email this morning that Andy arrived safely in New Hampshire. Daphne, if you are back and want him to visit, PM me with your address and he will visit you before heading to Florida. If we miss that time, he can return to NH after he's been west.
Aleta, not sure of the dates he will be in Oregon. If you would like him to visit you while he is there, I'm sure we can make that arrangement. He is at his 2nd stop, Oregon will be stop # 7 or 8...........
An update on Andy's journey. He has been at an elementary school in Burlington, Vermont for the past 10 days or so. On Thursday, there was an assembly at the school and the children talked about the bear and their visit with him The newspaper was there and he got some attention from the press. Andi will be putting a copy of the newspaper article in with Andy so you can read it when he stops by to visit.
Andi (the Animals Asia rep.) says she has been trying to get press coverage about Moon Bears, and it took a visit from a handmade stuffed moon bear to an elementary school for the press to take notice!
Andy will be in New Hampshire probably until April 10 or so, then he will be on his way to Florida.
In the BAthtub?????/ That had a good chuckle!
I have taken them to work (when I was working), and visiting relatives and camping. If I am at the doctors office, I read.....taking along the bears would be too much of a hastle. At a craft show I went to last year, where I was in a motel room for 4 nights, alone, I took my sewing machine and fur and all the stuff, but met someone I got along with, so didn't get much done. I will sit and finish bears while at shows.
Daphne,
Sorry to hear of your dad....you and he are in my prayers.
If you still want Andy to come visit, he can make the trip back to NH after he tours the rest of the country!
Ellen
Love him. I could never make good snowmen or snow bears. Maybe I will try the next time we get some snow.......
