For all those who asked for Andy the Moon Bear to come visit, he has started his journey, and I received the following email about his first stop. Andrea is the US rep for Animals Asia.  bear_laugh  bear_thumb  bear_flower  bear_smile

Hi, Ellen,
I just heard from my teacher friend who said that a first, second, third and 4th grade class at her school all want the chance to meet Andy the Moon Bear and to write in the journal about Andy’s adventures and why Moon Bears need help. I gave a presentation to these 4 classes a while ago, so the kids are organizing a fundraiser and making posters, and the teachers are thrilled to have Andy visit their classes to keep the kids engaged!  This is so exciting!  So I’m wondering now if it is possible to have Andy stay at their school until Wednesday, March 29, and then I would mail him to the next person on the list on that date, so hopefully he would arrive at his next location soon after the 29th? If you’d rather he travel earlier, no worries. And I’ll be sure to let the teachers and children know that it’s very important to keep Andy clean and unblemished.

Thanks so much for creating Andy and for starting this exciting journey!  I’m going to see if the kids have any small Vermont pins that they can add to his lovely vest.

Yay!

Enjoy the weekend!

Andi

 So, Andy's trip has stated off wonderfully, and will not be to his 2nd stop in New Hampshire until around April 1st. The first 2 stops he is making are friends of mine, not connected with TT.  I promised I would keep updates on his journey here, and I will.... hope you all enjoy reading about his trip and adventures. Once I get some orders finished, I plan to make another Moon Bear to send overseas...  pandamac

Lots of hugs to you, along with a dance or two and a prayer.......I figured the dance should help to feel better, especially if you dance with a teddybear!

My resolutions, 2 of them anyway, are still going.......no smokes for 3 months now, and I still have the fingernails....which keep getting in my way! As for the weight loss, nothing. I haven't worked on the Total Gym for a couple of weeks now, because the arthritis in my left hip has gotten so much worse, I can't do any of the exercises with my left leg, so I got discouraged........BUT! spring and summer is coming, maybe I will get out walking more which my doggie will like.........

bear_wub  bear_smile  Andy is all ready to travel.....just need 1 address from Marilyn, and he will be on his way. His first stop will be in Bennington, Vermont with Andrea Mowrer from Animals Asia. I will be posting a log of his journey as his "hosts' send me picutres and information.

He is so excited, I don't know if he will wait tomorrow.  And Jenn, your swap bear wants to stay with Andy....I told her he would be stopping at your house, so I guess she is ready to leave tomorrow also!

Glad to hear that you decided to go Joan. As for my "to do" list: Antarctica again, Alaska, Ireland/Scotland, Denmark (my 'adopted' son is from there and his parents want us to visit) Australia............AND to CHINA to visit the Moon Bears and see Panda Bears in the wild.......plus all of the US and Canada that I haven't been to yet!

Joan, Having been to Antarctica myself...GO!!!! Do not hesitate. here is some information about the trip I took.

I was on a Russian Registered IceBreaker. The roughest part of the trip was crossing the Drake Passage (get the medications that go behind your ear, they work wonderfully) When we got to the Antarctic Pennisula, we had Zodiacs take us to shore to walk around. The expedition staff was wonderful....helping you in and out of the zodiacs as needed. The visits to shore were the best. You could take a tour with a group, walk by yourself (keep the seals between you and the water) or (as I did a few times) just sit in 1 spot and watch the penguins, seals and birds. If you get the chance to 'swim' on Deception Island, take it! The temperatures while I was there in 2001, January, was anywhere from 25 F. to 47 F. MUCH warmer than I expected, and I was a little disappointed that it wasn't colder. The poor penguins were having a rough time, especially the chicks who can't get in the water. The age group on ship with me was between 30 and 90! My travelling companion was 75 at the time, she had a blast, didn't neccessarily walk where I did, but she encouraged me to go when she didn't want to .

So, in my opinion, DO NOT let any health issues stop you, as long as your doctor says OK. My companion had knee replacement just before we went, so she was not quite as mobile as I was, but she didn't have too much trouble and was VERY glad she went. There are times when I can't sleep, I go back into my memory and watch the penguins walk, slide, run, swim.....and the birds swoop and dive.....a lot of fun, and very relaxing.

bear_sad  wish we were getting the snow instead of this cold rain today.

bear_original Congratulations......first customers are always the best......

live chat would be interesting.......but would probably mean less bear-making!

Having been at craft shows where "Beany Babies" were, keep the manufactured bears out! Like someone said, if they want a manufactured bear, they know where to find them.

As a person who does not work outside the home on a regular basis......I could do more bears than what I do, but I get on the computer and forget the time. Basically, my day starts at 6:30 when I get up, get breakfast and turn on the computer. After checking email, I check out TT, then play some solitaire until about 8:30 when my dog & I go for a walk (unless it is raining or too cold)

About 9:30 I start on the bears until 11:30 when we go to the Post Office for the mail. Then I get lunch and check the computer again. My hubby gets home around 3:30, so I make sure that I am working when he comes home.

I sew all my bears on the machine upstairs, then stuff and finish downstairs, so every night I have a pile of bears that need eyes, ears, noses, stuffing, putting together........so my 'spot' in the living room is piled high.....Hubby doesn't say too much, but I know he gets frustrated with the mess.

And talk about fur.......between the bears, dog.......my vaccuum gets clogged with fur (of course, that only comes out about every 2 weeks!) Especially if I have a Rabbit Fur coat to work with!

Being at home all day, is very lonely. Something hubby doesn't understand. So, if I get a call or someone wants to meet for breakfast or lunch......I am OUT OF HERE!
We moved here 6 years ago, so I have no friends locally, and not working, makes sociallizing difficult. BUT! I love my bears and creating all of my critters. (they all do talk to me, which scares hubby big time! )  bear_grin  bear_tongue  bear_laugh

I do have some motorcycle bears, but I think the bikes are too small for Andy, plus, I don't think the positioning of his legs will allow him to sit on one!  bear_grin  I will have to get my hubby working on a bike for him........

Check your PMs, I am sending out messages about Andy coming to visit.

bear_original   We are so excited.......all you gals wanting Andy to visit. I will be sending you all a message because I need addresses so he deosn't get lost. Erin, you may find me in the box with Andy because I want to visit the Zoo too! So, his tentative trip is from home to Vermont, NewHampshire, Florida, Texas, California (2 stops), Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Ohio, the back home.      bear_grin  I will start working on his vest and his pack today so hopefully he will start on his trip by the end of next week.

Thank you all for your interest in hosting him. For all of you international people, I am looking at making a smaller Moon Bear to visit overseas..........

moon-bear-1.jpgHere is ANDY, my 15 inch moon bear. He is made from synthetic fur with needlefelted paws. His leather collar has ANDY on the back. Andy would like to visit people in the US (because of postage we are staying in the US) for a week or so. His expectation is that you would have him visit you, take pictures as you take him visiting places, give him hugs, help him write in his journal, then send him on to the next person. After he is done visiting, he will return to me and be auctioned off on ebay with his journal, pictures and any mementos he picked up along the way, all monies will go to Animals Asia.

If you are interested in hosting Andy for a time, please email me: dmacmas2@twcny.rr.com.

And the little bear says: "Hey, you are supposed to be sewing me! Not your fingers. And keep that red blood stuff away from me!" He also says: "sewing me up hurts a little bit, but I look so nice when you are done. YOU don't look so nice when you are done sewing on yourself. Keep the needle and thread where they belong! Helping me to become a bear........ Thanks"

Hope all fingers get healing and feeling better soon!

So glad to hear (and see) that Magic is doing so much better. She will remain in my prayers for a while yet.......keep us posted.

pandamac

Melissa, sounds like the perfect time for bear-making.I kind of wish I had some weather to keep me locked up and bear making....the problem is, if we have nasty weather, the power may go off, causing it to get very cold inside, and no power for lights or sewing machine..........BUT! I would have fun with a storm keeping me inside. Stay safe and have fun making......

pandamac

You and Magic are in our prayers. Good luck with the website and getting the word out about Greenies. I did email your post to my daughter who has 2 dogs. Hope everyone will take heed....
