Hi,
I looked at Edinburgh imports and have seen stuff that may be very similar.I bought my stuff a while ago and it was described as pure wool plush. Thanks Donna.

Diane,
Edinburgh has several wools that look close.  They are processed just like the mohair onto a cotton backing.

Thank Donna,
I will go have a look. They sound just like this fabric.
Have a great weekend

Diane,
is this natural wool that is woven into t fabric?  It is wonderful and looks very natural.  Have you searched sheep skin on ebay?  That is where I might have a look.
Your bear is lovely.  I would love one like that.

Thanks Judi,
I don't think I could touch sheepskin being a veggie but you are  spot on with the fur.If you can imagine a fabric that feels like it on the front minus the skin.It is like the mattress cover we have here for in the winter .

fluffy-2.jpgWhile waiting for a mohair order to arrive I have made this fluffy wee soul. The face and arms are wool plush from bearcountryuk. They no longer sell it .I think with a bit practise I could make a nice bear with it.I never make hairy ones and enjoyed the change. The fabric is woven tightly and like lambs fur .It is very soft backed and fluffy to touch. This is a ten inch bear to give you a scale.I have tried allsorts of searches.I keep buying fabric and then it goes out of production.I also like cotton plush which I can't find anymore.Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

It is so terribly sad but at least he had a few good years and was away from his life of misery.I have his lovely photo in the lounge here.He is the last bear I befriended for my friends christmas this year. They will all be sad too.It is so heartening to see that there is a better future ahead for bears like Andrew.
I cannot understand how a person can get up in the morning and work all day looking at these beautiful animals in their tiny cages. It seems like being in hell to me.I have to try hard not to think of all those sweet souls when I go to bed at night.I think it is harder for people like us that make a living creating their images.I take great satisfaction in knowing how much the teddy bear community gives back for their future.May we all continue to remember the suffering of some  our inspiration.

Poor wee soul it must have really hurt.I think as you get older you think about what may have happened and how lucky you really were..When you are young you just think "oh crap this hurts"I hope he heals fast and you get a good nights sleep again.

I have had loads of colours, blonde ,red ,purple and brown. My own colour is a greeny yucky dark blonde.I have no grey yet (save for one up my right nostril???) at 47.
I was once puting henna on a friends hair while I had lightner on my own.I forgot the gloves and spent so long trying to get the colour off my hands that I forgot about my hair!!!I bleached it so much that it was like bri nylon. It was completely waterproof and I looked like Barbi -minus the lovely face and body.It would not absorb dye so in the end I got a crew cut.
My granny said I looked like "A not very nice girl" Poor granny was quite upset.Luckily I don't freak out at things like that as my hair grows at an incredible rate .

So sorry to hear about your granny.Grannies are so special.Count yourself lucky you had a great one and you obviously loved each other.Lots of people miss out on that.
You will be able to think fondly of her and all the things you did together.

I sell about half my bears with B.I.N Most of my bears go abroad and its hard to have an auction end at a time that is suitable for europe the us and australia so lots of my regulars like the B.I.N
A lot of my buyers know each other and don't like to bid against each other.I make my B.I.N a bit higher than my reserve would be to compensate for paying ebay fees and only having it shown for a small amount of time.I find now lots of my buyers have asked to be alerted to my auctions via ebay and they can go in the first few minutes.
Hope this helps

bellsy-copy.jpgWhat lovely dogs you all have.I find a lot of bear people are also doggy people.
I also have two cross breeds. One is a whippet mix and the other a ginger collie mix.
Here is the wee one with my two pointers .

nettie

setee.jpgI wonder if puggle takes after the poodle or beagle.Beagles are so headstrong.
I am in the mood for a new puppy and trying to suppress it.
My friend has been bringing her pomeranian puppy round. My pointers try to play with him but he is just too wee.I never thought I would like such a small dog but he is fab .He climbs on top of my dogs just like  a wee monkey.
This is a picture of my friend introducing Monty to my dog Beauford.

I see the point if it a proper award like a toby or golden thingy but so many listing have award winning artist in the heading and no mention of what it was. That was what I was referring to.I commend any of you clever enough to get a real award!!
I think my problem is I don't take any of it seriously enough.I feel we make furry wee souls. Some make outstanding furry people some not so hot but they are all furry wee souls.I think it should all be fun and it's all about making people happy.
Even the bestest ever made artistic bear in the universe is a teddy and not a though provoking life changing piece of art like a Renoir or Constable. The fact that our bears make so many people happy is just fab I think.
Sorry I got a bit rambly on the soap box there.

What on EARTH is a kirby?  And why would you wear one?

bear_original bear_original bear_original

Melissa is spot on it is a kirby grip.I have to stick one in when my hair starts escaping from my do.I hate it in my eyes!!Once my daughter leaves home I may remove it all together. She says she could not stand it if I got what she calls a man do!!!

nettie

Since I left my proper job where I had a position of authority and had to be smart I live in what I call my "goonie".Its a really comfy dressing gown.I tend to wear it all day long while sewing.I have now got into the habit of keeping my jammie top on and drive aroung in it and my goonie.A couple of times I have walked the dogs in jammies with wellies.I am either rebelling against years of conformity ,really lazy or just plain loopy!!!I do wear civies when in company though.
The last time I drove in my nightwear I had my daughter in the car dressed as a fairy and her pal as a pirate.I was taking them to ahalloween dance and was pulled over by the police for a routine check. He shone the torch in the car which was a bit embarassing.Probably just thought mad teenagers and menopausal mum!!!I haven't reached the curlers stage but do on occassion wear the odd kirby!!!

nettie

I have never thought of entering any of these thingy's  but if Shelly ,Brenda and Kelly didn't get through with their fabby stuff I am going to be childish and not play with these kids.Congratulations and jubilations to all that did get through.

nettie

What a good idea and what a  clever wee scone you are Scott!!!
I can make the most depressed looking bear no sweat!!!,If thats a category.
I must say on ebay I get cheesed of at folks who list awards.I have a few but never mention them in a listing.Oops I am being an old fart again.
I see the point at shows and I sometimes used to display my magazine interviews etc but on ebay it seems to bug me.
One day I must have been feeling off and was going to list my swimming awards and power lifting awards on my bear lsiting!!!How churlish of me!!!I didn't but I do feel like puting non award winning artist under a listing some days.
How weird am I ????

nettie

I get days when I only want to make bear heads.I love making heads !!Do you think there could be a market for only heads???I hate sewing up bodies and stuffing.
I like finishing of and ageing though.I have no option but to keep at it but sometimes I just have to put the body aside and make a head again, then at least I am still working.
I take of an hour each day to look for bear stuff and read teddy talk then back to yukky bodies!!!!

nettie

Clever wee soul.I bet he was so pleased with himself. He will be wanting his own one soon!!

I have to be a killjoy here and say it is not my cup of tea.I can appreciate she is very talented and it was a lot of work but it looks like a stuffed real one to me ,which gives me the willies!!!At least it isn't dogs skin thank goodness.I only like real fur on the original owners but that just me.I like a lot of the cute mohair dogs around but for 3600 I would rather have some real dogs.No contest.I am happy to see hard work and talent rewarded though.Ooo what an old party pooper I am !!!!

nettie

He is so beautiful. He really looks like a bunny well done
