You get a bolt with a lock nut.  You have to get a small one that fits your disk...take two of them with you so you can get the right size...

Oh I love her color...I want a pink bear for my bedroom.  I am going to have to search for some pink mohair!

lovenshire

Well, the latest...
I put the bolt joint in the head and could not get it together...my hubby had to do it for me.  Yesterday I tried my hand at the cotter pin and could not even pull them apart.  I pried them with a tool and then tried to make a crown joint...NO WAY!  So, I did the snail joint and not very well at that.  The joint is loose but so be it.  I have decided that I am going to go the the plastic secure joints I use in my babies.  Yes, Eva, I use the same method you do only with a large thread spool.  I can make the joints as tight or as loose as I want and they never come apart!

I was out shopping yesterday and I saw a beautiful long hair sheep skin rug.  I stood and looked at it a long time thinkinf of winter.  But, in the end, I realized I just did not have your talent to make such a beautiful bear!

lovenshire

bear_wub  Oh, I am in love...I need a hug from him.  He is wonderful.  And, my favorite color is white...I just think he needs a big hug...from ME!

lovenshire

bear_tongue   OK, so, what are ATC's and ACEO's??? Sorry, this is all new to me...

lovenshire

bear_wub   Aren't granddaughters wonderful?  I miss mine so much.  She lived with me most of her growing up years and then we had to move to Missouri.  She came every summer and stayed until this last summer.  Oh my how I miss her.  She is my sweetie.  Your granddaughter is so cute.  I know you would love to be near enough to have that daily hug too...

Click on the libraary and go down to the "pricing".  There is a lot of information there...

lovenshire

bear_grin  I love your bear Angie...

lovenshire

Hubby screwed mine down with pliers...I just wasn't strong enough.  I think Jill's idea of a nut driver sounds good!

lovenshire

bear_grin  Oh so many cute Elephants.  I can't wait to finish my bear so I can make an Elephant...So many choices too.  Oh my, decisions...

lovenshire

Thanks Jill, I'll have to check that out.  I was using a pair of pliers...

lovenshire

bear_grin  Oh glad to meet other newbies...I have made one bear so far...in my avitar and am working on my second one.  I have made lots of cloth sculpture dolls but somehow haven't made teddies.  I would love to see your bear.  Yes, I was intimidated by all the beautiful bears here and the talented artist but they are so nice and very helpful.  So, don't be afraid to share your bear!

lovenshire

Andrea, she is so cute!  I had a Betrix Potter pattern for the one I did for my daughter way back when.  But, I really want to try the sitting elephant...they are so cute!

lovenshire

WOW does that elephant bring back memories...When my daughter was very ill with scarlet fever I made her an elephant shaped exactly like that.  I made her a richly embroidered velvet blanket for her back.  I put it on my daughters bed while she was sleeping.  When she woke up and opened her eyes she was afraid because she didn't know what was on her bed.  She closed her eyes and cried for me to come.  When she actually saw it she loved it.  She has always loved elephants.  She has a whole Christmas tree of elephant ornaments.  Boy, that was a long time ago!

lovenshire

bear_grin  I am a happy camper...turns out the major problem was that I just was not strong enough to tighten the nut and hold the disk at the same time.  Hubby came home and tightened it right up for me.  I am so happy!

lovenshire

WOW, I never thought of that Jull...

lovenshire

Amanda, she is so cute.  I really love the eyelashes!  So you really did use a bear pattern that you modified?  I am going to try that as soon as I finish my baby bear!  Thanks so much...

lovenshire

bear_wub  Oh those cute elephants that have been posted here are what made me want one!  Such as "Starlight" by Paula Carter...
There was another one with a butterfly on it...I can't find it but I loved that Elephant...

lovenshire

Well, I did not use the gel super glue...I used E6000.  Perhaps the glue gave way?  I did hold the disk while I screwed it on.  Donna, how would you use an allen wrench?  Do you leave a hole in the head?  I stuffed my head before attaching it to the body.

lovenshire

bear_wub  I noticed that most everyone suggested using the bolt in the neck instead of the cotter pin.  Well, I decided to do that on my bear.  I glued the bolt to the disk before inserting it into the head.  I cut the fur away from the area. When I put the whole unit together and tried to tighten the lock nut it would not tighten.  The bolt in the head just turns with it.  Now how do I tighten the thing?  Hummmmmmm, maybe the cotter pin is a good idea after all?
