Now girls, I'd invited y'all here to New England for the autumn folliage and yet my guest room remains empty!
now I hadn't joined when you made that invitation....or I'd be there right now!!
Actually Fall 2007 is gonna be my time to hit the East Coast of the States - provided i sell some bears between now and then :D
I did a fall/autumn bear swap a couple of years ago and got some yummy maple sugar candy from Vermont...my teeth didn't like it buy my tastebuds did!
beautiful.. thanks for sharing!
No matter how organized we are Martha Stewart is out of prison
hee hee hee
Dilu my neighbours are gonna think I've turned into mad crazy lady who laughs crazily all the time...
Shantell...you've obviously got the boost you needed...keep that email and refer to it when you need to. Your little bears are cute and you will continue to improve and impress yourself!!
I know it's easier to say than it is to hear because I certainly get into moods where I HATE my bears and look at them and want to bin them...but it passes. I guess it's in some ways a good thing because it pushes me to improve my bears.
I have also learnt that if a bear isn't going well to put it aside for a while and do something you enjoy and come back to it when you want to not because you have to. It might take months but sometimes those bears turn out to be the best ones of all!
My friend bought a bear that was airbrushed with copic marker and it's fading. She keeps her bears in a room with no direct sunlight (and very little light at all - it's essentially in a basement).
Like Sue Ann, I've never had a problem with prisma color.
 thanks Daphe!
Funny thing is...I'm not an angel person myself. I once visited an angel shop and it freaked me out! However, I do like angel bears as long as they're not too ott... In fact my first angel bear, Gabe, features on my business card and swing tag...and I'm making the third in my simply angelic series when I'm not wasting time here!!
Now, I'm going to totally cheese my friend Mel off ...she's been lurking here for a few days and I keep urging her to introduce herself. She makes amazing bears with beautiful faces. Unfortunately we live in different islands so I don't get to see her bears as often as I would like. Anyway, she made this gorgeous angel Charity, and last year when I went to stay with her, charity was waiting on my pillow! S'cuse the bad pic - I snapped it now in a hurry. She'll tell me off because this is one of her "old" bears but I still think she's so cute and so sad!
No....I'm not offended!!! You didn't do anything wrong and yes Im sure you asked us....I'm just allergic to photos!!
I know I should have one on my site...one day!
no photo of me...but everyone keeps asking...I know I should but I HATE photos. There is/was a photo of me on Hayley's site though...how mortifying!
cute little mouse!
I do both...Plum puddin' has it cut going forward and William has it cut going back - these guys have the same head and fairly similar fabric - plum's is a little longer and as you can see results in completely different looking bears.
What is a "graham cracker".? Heard of them on the telly shows but for the life of me, never seen one.....
Have you tried those honey bran biscuits that we have. I'm pretty sure that they're made by Kohi which is owned by Arnotts - anyway that's the closest thing to a Graham Cracker we have.
The original malt biscuits - the ones that were grainy - were also similar, becuase that's what my American friend used to have when she craved Graham Crackers
thanks for posting the pics - I was wondering what that fabric looked like just today!!
very cute...keep meaning to say that I love your new avatar bear as well - so fabulously girly!!
now I need an international translation...what's a Hershey's hug?...we haven't got those here yet
good deal...I know because my sister's been buying them for her illustration stuff and she paid about that too...
have fun with them!!
Dilu - I've just been drooling over her site too...my bunny is made from the non smokey long pile that she sells and Ginger kisses is made from her long pile imported synthetic. Got to sell one more bear and then I can order some ...can't wait I have too many plans and not nearly enough time but YAY the weekend is finally here!
Marion
I went on an exchange to New Caledonia when I was 17. I remember watching "Inspecteur Gadget" en francais obviously not with the late Don Adams doing the voice! and Lucky Luke. I can still remember the tag line from the theme song but I don't know if I can spell it still...It was " Lucky Luke: plus vite que son ombre" I have no idea why this stuck in my head but it still comes out on occassion!
back on topic...I do remember the snorks but never liked them that much. I liked asterix.
the kids I used to nanny used to ask for "mutella" sandwiches...used to give me visions of muttly on toast!
we have another brand that has a crunchy version a la crunchy peanut butter...mmmmm
nutella on cinnamon toast is divine - especially when you get it on while the toast is nice and hot and it starts to melt ever so slightly
oh and Dilu...you just gave me a name for my next bear....Filbert!
She's cute - that mohair is gorgeous and I love the bow
Better late than really really late
Alfalfa - thanks Dilu
the perfect name for a bear I have in mind
This is probably a dumb question because I'm sure the answer is yes... but do you think it's worth paying the 19.95 for the extra advertising on ebay? I have never done it before - partly because most of my bears aren't selling and partly because of the exchange rate. Do you think it will make a difference if I do?
Also...should I be altering the pricing structure on my bears - are they priced too high?? You can be honest and I won't take offence
I sew everything by hand - even when I did big bears (that's about 12-15" inches - small by Sue Ann's standards ) I sewed them entirely by hand. I can sew by sewing machine - in fact I started using a sewing machine about age 6 and failed handsewing at school! But, if I sew my bears by machine I don't feel connected to them - I guess that's kind of crazy to most people but hey it works for me!
Funny thing is - it's his right leg that's bung and that's my bung leg too - maybe we're meant for each other! I'm meant to be making another one but keep putting it off. As it's to go with a thanksgiving bear I better get my a into g and get on with it.
Absolutely to die for! So very very cute
Tee hee I was looking at your head and thinking "what a cute shape" Now I know there are 15 pieces - WHEW you must have so much patience
bet he's the first one to sell!
Thanks guys - she is very clever and I wish i could draw (I struggle to draw my bear patterns!). It's quite an interesting process - she has nothing to do with it all once the design has been submitted to the toy company -it's all theirs from that point, so she doesn't make the money!!
She's just glad she only has to draw the toys and not make them - sewing is not her forte.
Jane - I think they'll be sold in lots of gift shops and toy stores - they're made by jellycat which is a fairly big brand I think?? (there's also a link to the online Jellycat shop from her page)
Apologies but I just have to show you this!! My big sister, who lives in the UK has just had some Christmas angel designs produced by a soft toy company. I just popped into her website and saw this and am bursting with pride :)
I can't imagine walking into a shop and seeing something I'd made en masse like that....guess what I'm asking her for this christmas!!
You can check them out at this address...have a look at her book illustrations too...I so cannot draw and am in absolute envy of her (but I can make bears and she cant!! )
OK Danni What's DAGGI?
it's a classic Australian phrase (also used here). Daggy originally comes from "dags" which are the bits of the little bits of "matter" that stick to the wool round a sheep's backside. Hence Dag: eccentric scruffy person; a bit of a character. Daggy: something that dresses sloppily. It is sometimes used more extremely than that but we'll take it to mean that Danni's bears are slightly eccentric and defenitely have character. I'm sure Danni and Hayley can explain it better!
Check out this website for some more "strine" (aussie english)

Well done you - your website is lovely!
You are not a dolt - boy I search the internet for a living, however I'm USELESS when it comes to HTML - by website is a lovely fill in the boxes type jobby so I don't have to learn that stuff. Unfortunately I have a new browser (IE has had a fit on my computer) and so I now have to do all my ebay auctions in html - hence their somewhat haphazard appearance....I am so impressed by what you have achieved.
Give yourself a pat on the back
