Oooooh, I got my Sassy fabric today! It it sooooo soft. Can't wait to make a mini.
Put on both socks then both shoes; never a sock and shoe same foot, then the other. That would be bad luck. What's with the shoe thing anyway???? Also, my grandmother always made us pay a nickel for a knife. Hmm, I gave my mom a really good knife for Christmas last year. I don't think I collected the nickel. Whoops.
I haven't used them, but, boy, pricey aren't they? and so big? for a 20" bear or bigger. I wonder if they make them any smaller.
Pork fajitas. I'll cut the pork tenderloin into small strips and saute, then saute green and red bell peppers with onions, add the pork back in and add spices. We'll serve with warm flour tortillas, sour cream and shredded cheddar and jack cheese. yum-my
I have about 5 large very ripe bananas, so I'll make some banana nut bread too.
bon appitit, all
On Neysa Phillippi's website, she sells plastic eyes and at the top of the page of her website listing the eyes for sale, she has a link to a PDF file with instructions on how to make a hole in the shaft of a plastic eye in order to insert it like you would a glass eye. www.purelyneysa.com
Thank you, Neysa, for sharing your knowledge with us, including, and especially, needlefelting.
The double joint is a wedge piece between the body and the head (or between whatever two pieces you are jointing). This wedge has discs on both ends. The wedge has the part on the side that becomes the neck (body) and the end fabrics that cover the discs (cap). What she is asking is which place do you put the seam allowance of the cap and the body, on top of the disc, or beside the disc.
I put the seam beside the disc also, so that it doesn't bulk up the joint.
My hubby, who was flat on his back in bed with a bad back all of last week, is now up and about now and, in fact, is outside washing the cars right now!!!
And that is a good thing.
Cute, cute, but he does look guilty, doesn't he.
Debbie, I make bears from 3 to about 14 inches. I also sew every stitch by hand. I used to sew some of the bear on the machine then sew the head, paws and feet by hand. Now I just sew them all by hand with a tiny, tiny, tight backstitch. I feel I have more control and can get the rounded areas round without little bumps and ditches like I might do on the machine. So, you're right, it is wonderful to be able to tote our supplies and sew our little bears wherever the heck we want to be.
I found this little basket/container at Ben Franklin Crafts the other day. I've been using it as a portable workstation and I love it. I also have a sewing/computer room where I do most of my work, but when I feel like being sociable and going upstairs into the real world, I can tote my workstation along with me. It's 9" long, 4 inches deep and 6 inches tall. Just right.
Perhaps your landlord should be responsible for your damaged belongings??
Thank you for the deposit, Jodi. God bless you ! ! !
Hi Daphne,
I think it would be great to listen to books on cd while working on bears. I used to rent them when I was going to be in the car by myself for a long drive. Two questions:
1) What kind of books do you like to read? (my faves are mysteries (not much help to you) and historical fiction)
2) Have you checked your local library for books on CD? Ours has them and also our video store has them.
Tracy,
Where are you planning to go in the US??
I ordered some Sassy Fabric today. Can't wait ! ! !
Right now, I'm cleaning and organizing my sewing room. It was getting out of control.
Oh Marion, do I envy you, a new Boston. Fred is soooo cute, perfect markings too. How is he getting along with Butch? And the cat?? My Bostons have hated cats.
You know I loooovvvvve Bostons. (Remember, I have Buster) Fred's 1-1/2? ? Did you get him at rescue?? or did someone give him up?? We got Buster at 1-1/2 from BT rescue and have had him 5 years.
You are ever so right about the Boston's temperament. Last night I brought home a new toy for Buster, he had it chewed to pieces in about 5 minutes. He makes a hole in it then pulls the stuffing out all over the place. But . . . they are your best friend, actually bred to be companion dogs. I'll never be without a Boston either. Pass gas? yes, sometimes at the most unopertune moments like when you have a housefull of company. Snore, yes. The other night Buster and my husband were snoring in concert, I had to go sleep in the guestroom. But . . . they aim to please and be your best bud and, they do not think they are a dog, so please, don't tell them, it hurts their feelings.
I shared this on another thread but I thought I'd post a topic in case there were more TT'rs who might benefit from this handy tool.
The easiest way I've found to resize pictures is to download the microsoft picture resizer powertoy. When you click on this link, you should get a download box right away to download this resizer. If you don't, let me know and I'll fix it. Here's the link:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ … ySetup.exe
After downloading and installing the resizer all you have to do is right click on any pic and choose "resize picture". You will then have the option to resize with 4 size choices. The "Small" size works great for posting on TT.
It's great because if all you want to do is resize a pic, you don't have to spend time opening your photo editing program, importing photo blah blah blah. Ya' know?
Look how many TTer's your link has helped Patty. way to go
Yep, I think I'll put it in a thread to spread it around a little more. It is quite handy.
Oh my gosh, Aleta. AMAZING!!!! Sooo much attention to detail. Simply exquisite.
We are in rehearsals for Once upon a Mattress in our little community theater. (I'm doing lights for this play. Maybe next year I'll be brave and audition for an actual part.)
Anyway, would you mind if I printed a picture to show our cast and crew?? I know they would love to see it.
Thank you Marie, Sue Ann and Debora!! I appreciate your kind words about my little Halloween bear.
OOOOOOOOOOhhhh I just love dogs. He looks like a sweet little doggie. Border Collies are such happy good tempermented (is that a word?) dogs too.
Too, too cute, Brenda. Look at those huge blue eyes!!!!
Edie, What a great collection. I love your dolls and I've always wanted a big bear like your Steiff for my family room that is decorated in lodge/cabin/fishing type stuff. That's great!
Laura Lynn, I love the way you have your teensy bears around the teapot. So cute. I have that Teddy Bear Encyclopedia too.
Samantha, I love your bear hug and the way you have them displayed and Aleta, that's probably the best bear hug I've ever seen. What a collection and what cool Halloween decorations you have!
Chrissi, how fun to have pictures of your childhood costumes!! Very cute!! Looks like your mom spent a lot of time on them. I made my girls great costumes every year from their first Halloween on, (first Halloween for them was at 3 months old) but I can't find anymore pics right now but these. I was kind of relieved when they outgrew it. I'd made enough costumes by then. Most of the costumes I made were worn by my sister's seven (that's right, seven) kids too.
Here are some pics of Halloween days gone by: Tracy and Paige are my daughters. Paige won a prize for the scarecrow costume. You can't see them but there is a bird on her shoulder and one on her hat. The other kids are my step-daughter and my nephew.
