Congratulations!!!! Walter is so handsome!!!! I can't wait to see some more of your creation 'in the fur' in June!!!!
Congratulations everyone!!!!! So many talented people!!!!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!
Thank you Ruth - congrats to you too!!!!!
Thank you Edie - I absolutely adore your two entries, and can't quite understand why they were not chosen. They truly are beautiful.
Well, I was assuming I had not received any Golden Teddy nominations this year, as I have not been contacted at all. I have felt a bit disappointed all day, and have just gone over to the TBR website to see all the nominees - to see my two entries amongst the nominees!!!!!
Here's the link for any one wanting to see all the nominees: http://www.jonespublishing.com/jphome/j … nteddy.asp
And here are my nominated pieces!!!
yep - hubby and I are having pancakes now!! We're just having lemon on ours though - my Mum never added sugar onto anything, so I'm happy with just lemon juice!!
I think the tradition originates from people trying to use up all the last ingredients in their cupboards before fasting for lent, so they just mixed up all the ingredients into pancakes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure thats what I learnt at school!!!
ME...ME (waving British passport!) I just happen to live in Germany, and most definitely feel, and am regarded as, an Auslander!
Awwww...sorry Maria - I certainly didn't mean to miss you out!!!!
One that stands out in my mind this year, was Samantha Potter's beautiful bear entered in the 'bare bears' category ... for some strange reason he wasn't nominated in the category, but he did win the Editor's Choice Award (quite right too!)
   You're too kind Paula!!
I will agree with recommending the Readers' Choice Awards though. I think they're great!! You get your picture in the magazine if you're nominated, and then readers get a chance to vote. Doesn't really cost you anything to enter, but there is a £100 prize for each category!! Well worth entering in my view!!
I also have to agree with your earlier comments Paula, about what an honour it is to be one of the few Brits to be nominated for the TOBYs. I think there are just two of us this year? (please someone correct me if I am wrong!). Such an honour!!
Awwww Kim thats so exciting!!!!! I would love to one day have 3 girls!!!
I've literally just heard from Mindy (about 6.55pm UK time), so she has obviously started calling people. I too have been waiting to hear officially before I put it on my blog. Now I can celebrate - yippeee!!!
I just cannot believe how superb these bears all are!!!!
Jenny and Christine, you know I am a fan of both of your work, and I just cannot believe that none of your bears were selected!!! I guess it comes down to the fact that they can only choose 5 in each category. If there are 15 or 20 bears in each category where the quality and originality are 100%, then it really does come down to personal choice I guess!!! ah well - your collectors have given you all the biggest award by voting with their wallets and adopting your creations. I don't think their can be a bigger compliment than someone choosing to adopt your creations.
hmmm...I really must get back to me bear making now!!!
All of these creations are just stunning. This thread really shows how unpredictable awards can be. These are all beautiful bears - you should all be very proud of them.
ok - I've calmed down enough to re-size the pics of my nominated pieces!! Here they are:
This one is 'Laura-Kate':
This one is 'John':
And I've shared this one before, 'Sleigh Ride':
Well done again to all the other nominees. I'm really enjoying seeing your pictures. Keep them coming!!!!!
thank you for posting the list and putting us all out of our misery!!!! wow!!! I am jumping for joy!!! can't quite believe I got three nominations!!!!! I'll post some pics when I come back down to earth!!!!!!! well sone to all the other nominees!!!!!
awwww Patty - he is just beautiful!!!!!
Its great to hear you are all doing well.
There are a couple of 'bumps' amongst my family at the moment. My cousin found out today she is have a little boy!! Its so exciting!! She has asked me to be one of his Godmothers, so I am so excited that I am getting a God-son!! Just have to wait for him to arrive now!!!
Yeah!! You're joining us in the basement!!
I've not started making for Hugglets yet - will be starting on Tuesday. I have lots of new ideas though - I just need to produce them in fabric now though!!
Don't panic - you've got loads of time!!!!!
I voted! Your little girl is beautiful!!!
he he he - I saw this one and was curious!! Although I have admit that I own a couple of 'lifelike' dolls  . One of them I bought whilst I was still quite young and had saved up for over a year, and the other one of them is superb - completely hand sculpted out of clay from scratch - to me he is a work of art, not a substitute baby!!! I have to admit to being guilty of cooing over these 'babies' at shows, although I have also laughed at the people who walk around with them in a pram (sorry - didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings). Should be an interesting programme, although I hope Channel 4 isn't TOO mean!!!!
oh my goodness!!! Jane - I'm so glad you are all ok!!! Thank goodness you have an alarm!!
Hi Jackie,
When I send abroad I never actually enclose any forms, but I do use a sticker called 'Customs Declaration CN22' which is about 10cm by 10cm and just sticks on the outside of the parcel. There is a space to write a brief description of the enclosed item and its value. Its very simple. Just ask at your post office counter for some 'custom declaration stickers'. I've never had a problem when I've used this. Hope this helps!! If you are still stuck then let me know and I will send you one.
Happy christmas!!
Congratulations to you and the new mommy and daddy!!!!! Awwww...he is such a beautiful little soul. Enjoy!!
Congratulations!!!!! Thats wonderful news!!!! Does she have a name yet? Ohhh - can't wait to see pictures!!!!!
Congratulations Clare!!! How exciting!!!!!
Well as many of you will know by now, yesterday was the British Bear Fair and Artist Awards. I am very proud to say that I was lucky enough to win 1st prize in the two cateogories I was nominated in. I think the plaques are really funky this year - they look great lit up!!!
I took lots of photos of the nominated bears. However, they hadn't all been set up in the correct categories yet at the point when I took the pics - so don't worry if you see your bear in the wrong category in these photos - they were all in the right place by judging time!!!
Well done to all the nominees and winners!!!
There were some amazing bears there yesterday. It was great to see some of Judi's bears 'in the fur' - they are absolutely stunning!! I have to also mention Shelly's bunny and bear, which I particularly fell for - they are beautiful Shelly and your award was very well deserved.
