Lisa, I found your story very inspiring. The thing I took away from it was that you need to believe in yourself, you need to love what you are doing, you need to take risks, to need to be able to push through the not so good times and make the commitment. The company ( a large HVAC company)I work for was started by a man who followed the same plan. Many people me included have big dreams and wishes but would stop short of living in a shed or bathing outside to make things happen. Hats off to you. Your story makes me love your bears all the more.

Eileen - your bunny is adorable. The tail sticking out of the overalls is the cutest little touch.
Sandi
Kim - I really admire your work. All your bears are so beautiful with wonderful personalities.

Congratulations - Sue Ann, Judi and Louise. What wonderful news. Fantastic!

I think I'll get a copy of the book. Sounds interesting. I love reading about different ways of doing things. Sometimes the smallest thing makes such a big difference. I've learned something I could use in every book I've read. My first reaction is to think the nose to neck method won't work for me but you never know until you give it a try.

Jenny - Ginger-Nut is so adorable and life like. Your work is so unique and lovely - you are such a talented artist.
Sandi
Jenny - your rabbit is so adorable. The vest is the perfect finishing touch.

I have used Norton, Hembold and Schulte and had a good experience with all of them. I always fray check them all and have not had any problems with any of them. Schulte is my favorite but I use the others more often because Intercal makes them more affordable by offering end pieces and prepacks. I use them a lot for that reason. I like the way Intercal has the gallery of bears made with the different mohairs so I can get an idea on how it will look made up. I buy the schulte when it is on special and sometimes wait weeks for the fur I want to go on sale. I usually buy the fur not the brand name and have found them all to be lovely.

Daphne,
I sounds like we bought the same fur. I also have some honey colored fur that is too dark (actually orangey ) for me. I was going to try dyeing it but a friend likes it and wants a bear (for free of course) so this mohair found a home just as it is. I will probably do a tummy insert of ivory to break up the color is little.

Shantell - your panda is beautiful. Well done! I never would have guessed he gave you so much trouble. Your mom will love him.
Sandi
Thank you. Yes Emily did take hours and hours to make. The little jumper took some work to design and then tailor to fit. I hope my friend is delighted with it. I can't wait to give it to her.
Sandi
Thank You for your kind comments. Yes this is "That pink nose". Everything worked out fine after I finished with my panic attack. I tend to get way too stressed out at Christmas time partly because I like everything to be perfect.
Sandi
I have completed my troublesome little bear and posted her picture in the showcase section. When all was done the nose looked OK.

This is Emily. She is a Christmas gift for a dear friend. She has magnets in her paws to help her hold the snowflake ornament. Emily is wearing a blue velveteen romper trimmed with lace. I don't usually dress my bears but my friend loves them dressed so I created this little outfit.

Congratulations - what a wonderful experience for you. I'm glad you posted a picture. Your bears are beautiful. It is easy to see why you were asking to participate.
Sandi
I'll post a picture when she is finished. Unless something else goes wrong and I go nuts and chop off her head or something. My problems started right from the beginning when I cut it out. I had two pieces for the same size of the head. I haven't done that since the first bear I made. He had two left arms.

Thanks Marion - Thanks every one
Thanks Ladies - I ended up going back in with the dusty rose floss and filling it in. I would have done that when I was doing the nose but I didn't realize I had a problem until later. The nose now is hard and very hard to stitch but I did it. My first reaction was to wax it but since that is a new procedure for me I knew that would end in disaster. Also filled in and blend around the edges. It looks much better now.

I am making a white bear and decided to use a dusty rose for the nose. When I normally do the black noses I touch them up here and there with a black fabric pen. I didn't think about this when I selected the dusty rose but it will be next to impossible to find a fabric pen the same color. This color really show any imperfections and there are a couple of spots where the embroidery spacing is just a little off. I'm making this bear as a special gift for someone and any thing that could go wrong has. Any suggestions?
Fran - your bears are very nice not "silly". You should not sell your excellent work Cheap.
