Tammy,
OMG, pleeeeeaaaase don't be offended, but he has got that PERFECT, sweet, cute Qwasimoto (sp?) look to him!! When I saw him, the first thing I did was chuckle out loud and say "Awwwwwwwww..." It's like he just sits there saying, "Please love me, I'm good..."
That was NOT meant to be malicious, so please don't take it that way.... But he DOES have a very enamoring look. hee hee

Hi Matilda,
No, never tried...
I don't even know where to get started!! All I know is that you all use wool and you use a special needle with barbs on it... I don't even know where to get that kind of stuff.... hee hee

Well Daphne,
You'll kill me, but I do like those little guys. I think they are cute! But I'm not trying to talk you into making more.... I do think they are cute though... and it's not superficial "Oh yes, just lovely!" when I really don't like them; I don't do that. To me, if you don't like it, just don't comment, please... Don't fill me up with praise that you don't mean....
Kimberly W.
Matilda,
Thanks so much! I'm a bit new at this, so I'm still trying to work out little kinks, butam loving making these little guys!!

Wonderful photos... I love wildlife, too. If we lived out in the country, I could just sit out back for hours watching whatever happened to come by. For now though, I have to be content watching our marine aquarium... rather watch it than TV oftentimes!

Hey Shantall,
What I do is I pose the bear and then step back and look at him/her from exatly the angle that I am going to shoot from. If I get that 'twang' in my heart, I know it's a good shot. I do one from just about every angle, with the arms in between the legs, outside the legs, one in one out, so on and so forth... I also like the bear standing at about 45 degree angle from the camera (like in the first pic, not necessarily looking down on the bear) head tilted and paws behind the back. This has always been one of my favorite poses. Looking down on the bear gives it that, "Oh, please pick me up...!" look
And this one
I didn't really help alot, but thought I'd chime in.

Hello all,
I haven't found a discussion like this, so I'm hoping you guys can help me.
I have been searching, trying to figure out how to do a six jointed bear (two joints in the neck), to no avail. Could someone please explain to me how to do this? I need kindergarten instructions, as I have no earthly idea as to how to even pattern out the neck piece. lol I have been wanting to try to do one of these, but I don't even know where to start.
Anything from anyone would be helpful; thanks in advance everyone!!
Beary warm wishes,
Kimberly Whitlock
Hi Mel,

Hi Debbie,
I'd simply LOVE to enter Samuel... I'd even more LOVE to HAVE Samuel, as he's gone to his new home, and I'm left heartbroken. I want to enter a bear that I actually have onhand, just in case it did win or be nominated, then I would have him with me. Perhaps I need to make another in the same fashion as ol' Samuel. I do love him so.... He's the bear that if I'd thought it through more, I'd have kept that big ol' boy....

OK, so here's Christmas at our house, finally. YES, that's just about all of the ornaments on the top half of the tree; little ones' sticky fingers and big pooches wild tail have convinced me to relocate any breakables. And of course, he just HAD to jump in the pic!
The half wall has all bear figurins/ornaments that can sit/stand alone. I know, our walls and windows are bare.... It's a new house and we haven't gotten to all of that decorating yet....

I like your bear maker Ann....
Stephanie, That bear's fur is too cute!
Kimberly W.
Ooooohhhh, I am LOVING the first Big bear (the one with the wee one) He is just DARLING!!!
Kimberly W.
Awwwww, I am SO glad!!! Happy day for you!!!!
Now we see what the power of prayer can do? :)
And good for you for piping up about it! There's your reward for speaking up about prayer...
Kimberly W.
Whoa, good point Winney.
I suppose there is lots of money that has to go into the space for the bears, advertising, electricity, paying people to set it up, to judge... But, at just 1000 entries, $70,000 sure is a bunch of money. You are right about it being nice if they'd make it a bit mor affordable.
Kimberly W.
OK, Fran, they are ALL right... He is one good lookin boy...
Deb, ha ha... ARE YOU MY NEIGHBOR?!?!?!? J/K
Oh, and I did see the member's photos... Sorry, I'm a dork... lol
Kimberly W.
Thanks Sue Ann! I'll check it out this evening when I have a little more time. For now we get to do last minute Christmas shopping!!
Yay!!!! lol

Kim B. Hilarious story! And I can add to your Kitty story you remember so well. I will just leave it at this....
Our big boy Frodo (Bernese Mountain Dog) decided to eat a length of paper towel which, by the way, does NOT digest in doggy tracts. Well, quite some time later, I am out in the back with him round about the time he decides to expell said paper goodie. Needless to say, I did NOT have to help him 'dispose' of anything, once he realized that he had a 3 foot long 'dangly', his eyes became about as big round as dinner plates and he tore off, whipping his hind end about, all over the yard.
Disgusting? YES Hilarious? I have to admit, yes....
I will also have to admit that when Shantell mentioned that little bit about pooping paper out his bum, that was the FIRST thing I thought of.... but hesitated to tell the story.... lol
Kimberly W.
Me too, if I come across it I'll get it and let ya know... If you already have one by then, I always have my reciept!!

Daphne,
thanks for saying just what I think so many of us would have said!! Being anew artist, it's just wonderful to have such a great and giving Teddy Bear eCommunity. You guys have truly shown me that giving is truly contagious and is one of the best things on earth. You have all unselfishly given your best tips, methods, knowledge and bears for all of us to learn from and appreciate. And in this wonderful season (my favorite indeed!) it's really hit home the selfless giving, sharing and love!
Thank you, Daphne and thank you Teddy Talkers!!! We love you!!!!

Hello everyone,
Thank you SO much for your words of encouragement. It really gives me a better perspective on it all.
Yes, I agree that there is a certain amount of 'politics' involved. What ever happened to a good old fashioned contest that was actually based on skill? I think they have all gone by the wayside, unfortunately. I'd almost gotten into dog showing a little while back, but shelved that idea after I realized that I wasn't about to join the ranks of rating my dog based on what others percieve as 'perfect'. Especially when perfect so often has nothing to do with the judged at all, instead has to do with how well the people like 'the kennel your dog came' from, so to speak. Please don't get me wrong, all you dog show-ers out there... I've just talked to too many people and heard too many things... And the idea that people feel they can decide whether or not your dog measures up.... Who is REALLY to decide? It's all a matter of opinion, right? And don't even get me started on showing AND breeding....
Anyway, I think I might give it a go... And thank you all so much for those words of enlightenment about nominations vs. no nominations.... I am, way too often, way too critical of myself and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if I entered, didn't get a nomination, and took it hard. But that really puts it in to perspective, how many people enter. And to hear so many of you, who I can SEE are just wonderful artists, say that you didn't get nominated or it took forever to get nominated, well that shows me that my lack of nomination wouldn't be because of lack of skill (and it also shows me just how political it just might be!) Sooooo, I'm going to take that chance.... A bear never learns to fish if he is too scared to get in the water, right? And the sweet taste of salmon, er victory is potentially waiting!
Gosh, it's great to have encouraging people like you! I'm so glad I found Teddy Talk.

Hey Dilu,
Well, you know what? when I had that stuck in my head, I didn't even know what a Golly was! (I just found out a couple of days ago... ) I just kept thinking aobut the term 'good golly' and well, you know how it is when you don't associate a word with something, and it sounds out of context.... lol! I just kept saying, "Good gollies rule.... naughty gollies.... something about fun..." geez....
Ok, i'll quit rambling and go back to making cookies now... I wouldn't even know where to start on making a golly.... What exactly is a golly? I mean, where did it come from?
Kimberly W.
To be quite honest, I am still debating over what kind of tag to do. In theory, I'd like to do a patch on the big ones that I can stitch onto the fabric on eithre side, so it lays flat kind of like a belt loop. But am still debating...
Julia, I really like your tag... it looks nice and I like that you can put a photo of your bear on it.
Kimberly W.
OK guys... That settles it... You have all made me realize how PUNY my Christmas decorations are!!!! lol
Just kidding... But yeah, you guys really have some BEAUTIFUL decorations throughout your house!!! I wish the same could be said for ours... We have our tree and our outside... No hearth or splendidly decorated mirror (which, by the way I think looks just GORGEOUS!!!) I'll post pics in a few once I get them taken... Don't anyone laugh....
hee hee

We drove around our neighborhood the other night looking at Christmas lights, and my daughter complained the whole time that she wanted to go home.... So I called her a grinch and told her she was getting coal in her stocking...
