Teddy Talk: Creating, Collecting, Connecting

I have to disagree with Us Bears,  it's not up to you to decide the value of the bear it's the market. I would suggest trying to locate someone online who is an expert at appraising bears. Perhaps sending them pictures once you have contacted them and giving them more detail regarding the bear/monkey in question. If you happen to know the date it was manufactured is a lot of help as well. 

There are experts in all fields of antiques and arts, they are there because they are experts and have no problem in putting a value on an object base on their expert opinion.

I use to have a friend who was an established appraiser in teddy bears but unfortunately she passed away a few yrs ago or I would have put you in touch with her.

Well you ladies better hurry and decide because those prices are a LIMITED TIME OFFER (give me a flipping break) Nothing like ripping people off, seriously $10.00 shipping the airmail plane better land in front of my house for that cost . It's out and out gouging that's what that is.  I purchased one of his patterns yrs ago for a friend of mine for her birthday as she loves antique style bears. I paid under $15.00 for the pattern.

Sorry to rant but I really hate when artist rip people off on stuff like that.  Not meant to offend anyone I just have a problem in speaking my mind

Karen I still have that magazine with your cover .  Perhaps that's what they mean is the inside cover , you are likely right Karen.

Tami we certainly didn't buy our cover spot, it was an honour to our bears on the cover TB&F we could not have afforded to buy that spot for sure.  I agree I don't think that spot should be up for being purchased, but then again I don't know if they need to raise more money or not.  I need to follow up with them as well as I didn't receive my last issue of TBR.

I Finally got a reply from TBR on their facebook page.   They said :

The nominees will be notified no later than April 25.

The August issue of the magazine, which mails June 1, will contain the ballot and the public announcement of the nominees.

It certainly is getting later and later each yr, I really don't think it should almost 2.5 months to come up with the nominee's.

I posted the question on their facebook page Tami. Maybe they are not notifying the artist ahead of time this yr and they will find out when everyone else finds out.  If they do that it doesn't give anyone a chance to really advertise that they have been nominated prior to the voting. 

Hope that's not the case , but it is getting close .

I agree I think Mod Podge is the way to go. We discovered that is what nose varnish really is , they just put it in smaller containers and charge you more for it. It's what they use to do decoupage with or still do.  The way would scrap and get marked up and in high temps it would melt.

LOL  Amber, don't think I am doing the April show.  They were a lot of fun to make and they worked up so quickly and I was surprised how fast they went too.

Thanks Anna, I enjoy sculpting and painting the noses. I get to play a lot when it comes to the painting part, there are sometimes several layers on the nose. I just keep going until I like what I see.

I agree Daphne it has taken some time.  I am usually pretty with my time, I am a night hawk and usually don't go to bed until very late. So I tend to come home from work and have dinner and sit down and work on stuff for a few hours and then I hop online and do most of my online stuff.  I sometimes do a quick check after work to see if there is anything urgent that needs to be tended to.  We'll have to see how I do  LOL.

LOL Joanne you are right. I was after a certain someone to do this before as he normally looks after all of the technical stuff and computer stuff but it wasn't getting done.
