Thank you, Alena! I read on your blog about the little German doll heads and the bunny you made! He's ADORABLE! I added your blog to my favorite side bar list because I enjoy it so much! Thank you for sharing your talent. It is a joy to read!
Hugs,
Janice
Hi Alena,
I think your box is very pretty! I like to use old cigar boxes to make my bears boxes - here is one I did a couple weeks ago -
I love your blog!
Hugs,
Janice
Sue Ann, I thought he was the "Original Teddy"! Hers is the "Spittin' image" of yours - just needs a little more love!!
Hugs,
Janice
Awww, so happy to hear you know a bit more about your wonderful find, Joanne! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, Lisa, how wonderful! I oftentimes wander over to look at the "toys" in hopes of finding a treasure but haven't lucked out yet and you got him for .20 cents?!! I'm all smiles for you! I think he's the "Steiff Original" - I don't see any examples on ebay of the 1950's version (to show you photos) but there are a couple remakes such as
http://www.ebay.com/itm/STEIFF-ORIGINAL … 519bc76c9d-
the way his muzzle/face resembles the "Original" from the 1950's.

Janice
Awww, she's just as beautiful as she can be, Alena! I love her!

I hope you can find one for her!

Ebay has several tan Gund bears - some look a bit like him but the nose is not as orange. Here's one I thought looked quite a bit like him -

Good luck!!
I think he is adorable and I am so impressed with your sewing skills, too! Great job! I look forward to seeing more!
Hugs,
Janice
I sent facebook messages to Shelli, Kim and Roxanne just in case they didn't see this post :O)
This is terrible - I think they just stole the photos from on line pictures and photoshopped to make the backgrounds look uniform. It's a good case for watermarking photos!
Hugs,
Janice
She's very cute, Nicky!

Janice
Would love to see pictures of her after her makeover! xoxo
She is stunning, Kim!

I use human hair products on my mohair all the time and it works wonderfully. I have 2 favorite products and I'm not sure if you have them in the UK but you may have something similar. One is Paul Mitchell Moisture - Awapuhi Moisture Mist and the other is Jane Carter Solution Natural Hold Spray Gel made from all natural ingredients. This one I water down to a 50/50 water, gel solution. The mohair comes out shiny and soft and will not be flyaway frizzy or full!
Good luck!

Janice
She is so precious!

Wayne,
Thank you! I'm glad you like the way I send my bears. I try to make each one as if it were a present for the collector. My Mom was one who wrapped her packages beautifully and I think I learned from her. I like to imagine the person opening it and I want to make sure they are smiling when they open that box!
Hugs,
Janice
As a collector and an artist, I prefer embroidered. Many of my collector's prefer embroidered, too - or embroidered with layered wax. I do believe it depends on the bear. A well sculpted nose can be stunning on the right face. Joanne Livingston's needle felted noses are superb, too! Jessie, you can buy felt nose templates from on line bear supply stores - they come in various sizes and shapes. You peel and stick it where you want it on the face and then embroider over it, so you can use that as a guide. I make my own wool felt templates for each bear and embroider over that but with minimal eyesight, I would recommend the ready made templates!
Hugs,
Janice
