I know what you mean about how the internet can really make you feel connected. This site is wonderful and has made me feel, that there is others, in our world that, feel about bear the way we do. I have also learned so much here and want to thank all the people that do not mind sharing what they know. I really enjoy seeing other peoples bears and other animals.
As far as making money on my bears. They were miniatures about 4 inches tall and I made $22.00 total before the cost of everything. But as you said it was the fact that someone liked them enough to buy one or two. Made me feel really good.
Romeo is a great looking bear. you done a wonderful job. I made a couple of my own patterns but they need improvements. I sold the first at a community arts and crafts yesterday. It was a centuar bear. I like your bear better.
Hes so cute. Nice work. Love it!!!!!
I would like to find that book also. Thanks
What a cute bear. Love the story and the honey pot also. thanks for sharing.
Hey try this site, it tells you how to make teddy bear clothes.
http://www.ehow.com/how_4898534_sew-ted … othes.html.
I have bought books that show some patterns for clothes also.
Good luck.
I don't get out much except to grocery and doctors. I make most of my bears while waiting at the doctors for my husbands appointments. I take care of him, he has a lot of medical problems. I did teach my 10 year old neighbor girl how to make miniature teddy bear about 6 inches tall. She has made 3 so far. She just moved this month to the new home they bought but came down to get more information and to make sure she understood the other patterns and stitches before she moved.
I wish I could find a few more kids that want to learn. Not to many people around here, even know how to sew a button on something. A bear club in the neighbor hood sounds wonderful. I am glad you all are here to share and talk too about bears. Thanks for being here.
Sophie,
That is so cute and I really loved the story!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing.
This is my first try at making my own pattern.
I want to make more and call them blender bears. I want to blend a horse Like this one, then a camel, giraffe, etc.
The first legs I made were way to small, these are better.
I used my own hair for the tail.
I will get better, the more I try, hope.
All the pictures of these cuties are wonderful. I am getting writers cramps from taking so many notes. I love the pictures of the way the wings were made. I for one sometimes need pictures to get the whole idea. Thanks for all of your wonderful advice and information you have shared. That is what makes coming here even greater. Talking to people from everywhere that love making and and sharing teddy bear ideas and pictures. Thank you all soooooo much!
This is my first try at needle felting a beard and eyebrows. I hope to improve as I learn.
Nadiasbears I see the post but not the bear Picture. Is it invisable, LOL. Just kidding. would love to see it.
I am new, but must say I love it here. I stop in every chance I get. Here I feel I have friends (even if I never met them face to face) that have a lot in common and can talk about teddy bears, etc. The problems and the joys. Please do not go. Face book is not the same thing, I only go there when one of my family post new baby pictures. It is a waste of time for me. I have enjoyed it here and if I had the time I could spend all day. I have learned a lot and I am glad everyone likes to share tips and pictures of the past and present bears, etc. This could be like a big family with a lot in common.
So cute love all the pictures. Here is my two they are not spoiled much lol
I don't make as many bears as I would like. I have to take care of our yard, house, husband. I also have to take care of our neighbors yard also. My husband and my neighbor have a lot of medical problems. I also have arthirtis and back problems. I get a few bears done at the doctors waiting rooms, and at home. I sit in my easy chair with the dogs on my lap or beside me so they do not feel too left out. The little mini bears are easier to do this with then the big one.
I use a free program from the web called XNVIEW. It lets me copy, crop, resize, add text to my pictures, etc. I had all my sisters (7 of us) give me their pictures to scan. Then put them all on disk for Christmas one year. Now everyone has a copy and if anything happens to the disk they have they can always get a copy form one of us. They had me put names on the top or bottom of the pictures of everyone so the kids and grandkids would know who they are. They also have a copy of the family tree dated back to the 1600. I know I got off the topic of resizing pictures. LOL
I too bought the book. How to make enchanting miniature teddy bears by Debbie Kesling. I took fell in love with them from this book. The smallest one I made was 1 inch the size of a postage stamp with string joints. Can't do them again too small for my hands and eyes. I still have it and cherish it. I make mostly 3 to 5 inch bears because of the arthiris in my hands. Thank Debbie for making the book.
Little prince is wonderful!!! What do do you mean by 5 times jointed? Does it mean leg, arm and head joints? Thanks
My friend told me we are our own worst critique. I think all bear need love and give it in return. There is always someone out there that would love any bear that is made. I for one love seeing them all.
This is my first attempt of a bear with open mouth. I need a lot of practice yet. I love this little guy anyway. I used the stretch velvet on this guy and it does require getting use to.
I just looked at Monica Spicer open mouth On the web and it is great. She has done a good job on it and great pictures on each step thank you and thank Monica for putting it on the web. I am Anxious to try it on my tiny bears.
Paula your bears are wonderful the mouth and nose look so good. Does anyone know if this will work on tiny teddies under 5"? I would love to try it.
Thanks everyone for the information on the 1998 issue. After looking on here I think I will try to make my own pattern of this bear for my husband. Here is another picture of the teacher bear I made. Keep in mind I don't take good photos but I try.
I bought a lot of teddy bear books. There is also some videos on the web to show you how to make teddy bears now. They show the stitches and the names of them also. Hope this helps
I scan my pattern into my computer, then print them out. I paste the printed pattern pieced to Plastic. I have used plastic Ice cream bucket lids, or even gift cards, etc. I put a picture of the bear and a picture of the pattern in a notebook with document protectors. Then I also put the pattern pieces, I have cut out of the plastic, into zip lock bags and place them into the document protector. I will have to remember to also put name and sample of the material I use in there to. I only make mini bears so this is easy for me to find the ones I want quickly.
Love this. The only thing I have done is add breast to one 4 1/2" teacher bear I made, for my daughter. She loved it. This is the bear I use as my Picture here. Thank for sharing. Now I got to get the courage to do it on my own. LOL
