oh dear Shirley - don't be so sharp with people.
there we all were..........having a good old moan and clearing the air and then you go get the hump lovey.
c'mon - be nice, post a good coherent, intelligent reply to us moany old gits and we'll play ball with ya.
no-one likes a meany.
Smile
This is Intercal's site and they can do as they wish.
Not when a lot of us are paying for advertising here Shirley - we pay for this site (partly/indirectly) and this is'nt the first time that something like this has happened. I see that you are quite new so you would'nt know what has happened in the past.
Quit mucking up the boards with this nonsense. Get over it or get on with it.
We were getting on with Shirley ha ha ha and it's our board so we can talk about what we like (within reason admittedly).

Not wishing to fan the flames of discontent - but i have to join Daphne and the other girls here in support of their, mine and all TT members right to carry out discussions and debates in a manner they see fit without Moderators removing topics posted here, especially without informing the member who has posted the topic and given them the right to defend their position before doing so.
I came in late to the discussion as i have been busy but read the whole topic from start to finish and in my humble opinion, not one of the girls over-stepped the mark - everyone was just giving their opinion and i feel were working their way to a conclusion all on their ownsome without the need for intervention from Moderators.
The fact that it involved an Advisor should not influence the Moderators decision in pulling the topic as, we are often told by TT, Advisors are just members too.
It has to be one rule for all - either pull all posts considered offensive by any member of this forum (you'd be left with a lot of blank pages) or leave all members to work through their discussions as they see fit.
Obviously i am not talking about posts which are a definite No-Go area for all decent human beings - racism, bullying, attacking a persons religious beliefs etc
There you go - i've said my bit but the Moderators do have to give members a set-in-stone rule about what posts will be deleted, they can't just say "We don't think that the subject is suitable for Teddy-Talk so we're pulling it" without justifying their actions and giving us their reasons for doing so.
Besides, they keep informing us that all disagreements/disputes should be handled using PM's but they did'nt contact Daphne using this system, giving her the opportunity to have her say to them in private.
TT - you gotta get your act together darlings. You need to get some definite guidelines drawn up for this or these situations will keep arising periodically and getting members all riled up and going grrrrrr at their monitors.
You also have to remember that we members make this site the success it is, if we all get fed up with the one-rule-for-us-one-rule-for-them attitude that many members feel applies here at Teddy-Talk it will gradually just fade away.
None of us wants that to happen.

so so beautiful Kim - she looks fantastic. Make more siamese cats please - i love siamese, one day i will have one.
Don't get too good at this or i'll have to throw in the towel
Brilliant work
Penny
I've got loads of the stuff, all been kept in cold storage, cleaned etc etc and i can't bear to touch the stuff - although i agree it looks beautiful.
If anyone want to buy some quality vintage furs, i'll take reasonable offers, let me know but the postage costs are horrendous because they are so heavy. They were all my mums and grandmothers and all are in perfect condition as they have been cared for - not stiff or smelly or infested.
I've got mink, squirrel, coney (wabbit, all colours), antelope, bear (antique - but i can't sell/send overseas and not sure if i can sell it within the UK either - info please girls) and one other that is probably extinct by now but i don't know what it is.

I'll admit, I was getting sick of seeing all these posts on the index page for award winners. I mean, it was really rubbing it in my face that I didn't put the effort forth or have the time for that matter to get an entry in. It made me really mad at myself!
HA HA HA - that's so funny Daff  nice one! Try next year huh?
I suppose it was inevitable Mindy - there will always be someone who is suspicious at the amount of TT members who have won. But as many have already said - TT members were encouraged to enter, they did and they won. Simple as that.
If we were all crap here none of us would win anything would we? You only have to see some of the winners pics to know that they have won on merit not favouritism.
Sounds like someone is sucking lemons

I just want to say how pleased i am that so many of you here at Teddy-Talk have been recognised in the Toby Awards.
You are all so deserving after putting in all that hard work to produce such gorgeous bears and other animals.
 CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE
I wish i had the time to reply to every single one of your posts here, i hope you don't mind a collective "HOORAY FOR YOU".
You've given me a new dilemma though........i want to add you all to my '2007 Must Buy a Bear From' list !
Well Done Girls
Penny
My poor Mom - she forgot to add the URL
Thank You Mikki, it was a delight designing your website, so many fabulous felties to accomodate!
Here's the web address folks...

My mum had a load of stupid sayings....
"This won't get the baby ironed" when she was chatting or sitting down drinking tea and had something to do
"It's enough to make a pudding laugh" - dunno about that one but i think it meant something was ultra funny
Or when i was all dressed up to go out "What the hell do you think you're wearing?" she was sooo loving my mum
As for the "crossing the road" thingy...........i used to get HER across the road - she was as mad as a bag of hair! She only noticed i was'nt there when she had laid the table, served the food and one of the places was left vacant. Lord Bless Her - what a loony. ha ha ha
Obviously i did'nt inherit any of her genes
Hmmmmmm. I'm thinkin i'm thinkin
Happiness is...
...cutting my own hair and actually not making it look any worse than it did already (i think)
...having nothing to do for a couple of days
...being told on the phone by my 2 year old grandson "Not today Thank You" - i dunno what he was on about but it tickled my funnybone
...buying myself that long-promised bear from Diane of Wee Scone - Pom Pom is Pen Pens
...i cleaned the house and feel good about it, bet that no-one will come round now cos it's clean - i usually lie to them and tell them i have been sick and to excuse the mess ( i will never get to heaven)
...i dunno - can't think of anything else really as i am naturally a happy old bean and can be happy just because

1. YES or NO: Have you ever participated in a random teddy bear swap? By random teddy bear swap, I mean a swap where your name is placed among a pool of names of participating artists, and then you are paired up with another bear artist randomly by the swap coordinator.
2. AGREE or DISAGREE: All participants in random swaps must agree that they will accept, without public or private complaint, any bear that comes their way, as a condition of participation.
3. YES or NO: Do you think swaps should be sub-organized into categories?
4. If swaps are sub-organized into categories, do you think, for example, that mini makers should swap with mini makers?
or....
Do you think each participant should be able to CHOOSE which category he/she wishes to trade with? For example, should a mini maker be able to specify that he/she wants to trade for a "biggun" bear?
4. If you answered YES to question (3.), which categories would you like to see used? Mark all that apply:
(a) Size (small, medium, large... or mini, medium, biggun.)
(b) Style (contemporary, traditional, distressed, anime)
(c) Skill level of bearmaker (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
(d) Medium (needlefelted, mohair, synthetic)5. If you marked "skill level of bearmaker" as a possible category, in question (4.), do you have any suggestions about the criteria a swap coordinator might use to determine the skill level of each participating artist? Years making bears? Price per bear? Awards and honors? Is this even a realistic option?
6. How long should swap participants be given to complete and ship their swap bear?
7. What, if any, should the consequences be for those who commit to a swap, but never send a bear to their partner, even after receiving one themselves?
8. AGREE or DISAGREE: The swap coordinate should not have to police swap participants. Any problems which arise are the responsibility of each swap pairing to resolve.
Okey-dokey, here's my two penneth worth Shelli.
1. YES
2. AGREE
3. YES
4. (a) Size (small, medium, large... or mini, medium, biggun.)
(b) Style (contemporary, traditional, distressed, anime)
(d) Medium (needlefelted, mohair, synthetic)
5. not applicable
6. 8 weeks from a specific date set for the swap to begin
7. Shot at dawn or failing that - PUBLIC EXPOSURE here on TT (providing there were no extenuating circumstances for failure to complete swap)
8. AGREE

I just read this (late as usual) and am so pleased that Gunnie is home safe and sound with his family again.
Please don't keep him in forever and ever, it was'nt anyone's fault he got locked in somewhere - these things happen but eventually NO-ONE can ignore a yowling cat and they get let out.
One of my cats spent half his life getting into other peoples sheds, garages and cars. A neighbour of ours once took him to work with her for the day - he thoroughly enjoyed a day in the car. She was in a bit of a quandry whether to tell us though ha ha ha.
Cats do this sort of thing, the little devils
Penny
I did'nt know you were Tying the Knot Gemma...........CONGRATULATIONS
Shall i send you a 'Nag Bag' - i could run one up for you. So everytime hubby don't do what he's supposed to when he's supposed to you file it, and then you hit him over the head with it - the heavier it gets the more dangerous it becomes - great idea huh? I came up with that one meself.
That's a beautiful lucky horseshoe Gemma - how sweet of Sandi to do that for you. Ain't people nice?
Penny
Hi All,
Someone very special on TT is having a day filled with stress and worry today. I can't say who it is as i don't know if they want to keep it a secret or not, so to play it safe....no names will be mentioned.
However...
I am sure they would greatly appreciate lots of good vibes, prayers, fingers crossed, pagan rites, hugs or any other way of offering support from us all.
They will know who they are and see your messages of support, so c'mon folks let's give a big collective hug to Ms. X
Thanks Girls and Boys
Penny
Hi Brenda
I have tried IE 7.0 for a few weeks and i don't like it - i have gone back to IE 6.0
There are simply too many gremlins in IE 7.0 at the moment, i suppose given time it will be improved but for now......bin it! ha ha ha
If you want to change back you only have to remove IE 7.0 and it is automatically replaced by IE 6.0.
However.... if you don't want your computer to automatically upgrade to IE 7.0 again, especially if you have set your preferences for automatic updates, make sure you change these settings.
What a palaver huh?
Good luck Bren
Penny
hoo hoo hoo - ha ha ha -hee hee hee - i am tickled pink by that Bobbie
Thanks
Penny
Ta Shelli
I thought it may have been them rather than me but you know what it's like......the "Bloody Heck" moment that never quite goes away until you get some sort of confirmation that it is'nt you and those html codes you spent hours concocting were'nt duff ! ha ha ha
I have contacted them but in true company style - no reply yet
I was sooooo relieved to hear that Jane was having trouble too - i don't mean to be mean if you know what i mean (hoo hoo) but at least i won't have to dismantle the computer to sort it out.
Penny
p.s. passive FTP huh? oh dear oh dear - i see trouble ahead me hearties!
JANE JANE JANE - YOU HAVE MADE MY BLOODY DAY!!!
I have been unable to access my sites and others that are hosted with Geocities since Monday night - i was just about to pull the plug on my computer and throw it out with the trash as i can't for the life of me get these pages to load either in IE or Firefox browser windows.
I can't see your website either Jane so we have either picked up a virus from using the hosting site or they have done something to their site and have'nt told anyone.
Keep PenPen posted
Oh wow Sonya - it's so nice to see some of my ATC's again - thanks for posting the pics my dear
Penny
I like the 'freefall' approach to web building Bobbie - if you wanna use different banners on different pages then go for it girl.......he's a bit of a bossy boots is'nt he? ha ha
It's nice to see someone doing something different with their websites don't you think? It can be easy to get stuck in a rut with website design and there really are'nt any 'set in stone' rules about appearances are there? Or have i missed the "Webmasters 10 Commandments on design layouts"?
I have fast broadband connection and have no problem with your alternating banners - once the images has been loaded into your visitors cache it stays there until they remove it so if your visitors are regulars there should'nt be any hassle with loading the pics. That is just my humble opinion.
Tell him to do as he is told Bobbie - you is the boss baby!
Penny
someone had a great style with moon faieres bears...
Do you mean my Moonlings articicle? Or am i getting confused with someone else? Here's a Moonling....
I love making ATC's too but just have'nt had a chance to make any lately.........no time no time! Here's an ATC...
I wish there were 48 hours in a day for doing all the lovely arty stuff - no time no time!
Penny
This is just an update.............
My two new little bears arrived today and they are even better in the fur. They look great, feel fabulous and are so wee and cuddly i've come over all maternal with the little darlings. Terry sat looking at me like i had lost the plot when i was laying on the sofa under a duvet (i had an accident with a refridgerator door but that's another story) and was cuddling them and having a 'getting to know you' chat with them. Ok so i'm an idiot - so what!
Nicky is a fabulous artist and she says she will be attending Hugglets this year so i may just have to go and meet her (yeah ok, buy more bears). She is so nice too.
Have a nice weekend all
Penny
Don't
Please Don't
Please don't ever mention computer failure
Ever
It makes me sweat
I feel quite ill
I've been there
And have never been the same since
I think we should do what we can to make something that lasts but I don't think its realistic to think things will stay forever just the way they started.
You know, i was just thinking that meself Cheryl and i think that all we can do is try our very best to take care when producing our bears. Nothing lasts forever (especially a bottle of wine but i am digressing from the subject ha ha) and at some point the collector has to take some responsibilty for the care of the bear.
(I am not saying that Sandra has'nt looked after her bears at all cos it sounds like she cares for them a lot.)
Light - natural light - direct sunlight - artificial light of all kinds KILLS anything after a while and Judi's observation from her trip to the museum is a good example of how careful you have to be. I went to a museum in London and viewed a fabulous sketch by Leonado DeVinci and it was positively DARK in the room - you had to let your eyes adjust for about 5 minutes before you could see properly.
I guess the museum curators know best and i think maybe i will start adding a 'How to Care for your Bear' slip with all my new Moonlings and Cats this year - just in case.
Dust - pest infestations - heat and extreme cold can all add to the disintegration of teddy bears and as Cheryl has already said "How many vintage bears have you seen with complete original paw pads or full coats of fur?"
Yep, we are all deteriorating too - me more than most
Good topic.
Penny
Pics? Pics? I don't see 'em. I wanna see 'em.
ha ha ha Patty - the upload would'nt work at first but the pics are there now. I love these 2 little bears. Do You?
