DSC08606_1.JPGI made Nympheus for a little challenge with Liberty of London fabric theme.
Nympheus was exhibited in a big craft show in Paris among many other creations (not bears). He finnished fifth from visitors' votes. Then another vote was organized online and he finnished second, hehehehehe.

Nympheus is a bear tranformed into a water lily.

He is only 11 cm tall. This is a miniature compared to what I usually make. I do not think I will try smaller, to be honnest.

I do not aim to try making lots of mini bears. I may just make one in a while.

His two rows of petals are removable. His stall his the water lily leaf. I made it with fimo clay and then I painted it with acrylic paints and added some varnish.
The bear is made with mini cashemire fabrics and thread jointed.

I hope you like him.

He is now adopted (he found a mom two days ago at a teddy bear show).

DSC08653_1.JPGA long time ago I began a green bear and then left him unstuffed and unjointed for a long time until I took time to finnish him, something like one year after!!!!

Muguet is 38 cm tall. Green mohair bear with muzzle and inner ears in synthetic fur.
He is my first bear with a needle felted nose.

He will be for sale on Bearpile and my website.

DSC08668_2.JPGSometimes, you keep contemplating a bear you made with that feeling something has to be changed on him.

That is what happened to me when watching my big bear Tuba. I kept telling myself he might look better with a trimmed muzzle.

So I decided it was time to it it before the teddy bear show and so did I!

He is 51 cm tall and as he was not adopted at the show, I will put him on Bearpile and on my website for sale.

That was before :

How, what fantastic news these are! I am so happy he is improving everyday!

I am sure all the bear power is helping Roger a lot! Probably as much as all the love he is given...

Hi!

I am ready for finnishing paint touches on a mohair bear with a needle felted nose.
I was thinking about adding acrylic paint touches on his nose prior to waxing.
Has any of you ever done this? Where you happy with the result?

Why acrylic paint? The nose is sort of ocre colour and I want to add some yellow on it : yellow is a lighter colour so I think textile paint would not work.

I am familiar with waxing traditional embroidered noses.

Please, be quick to answer, as I want that bear finnished asap : I have got a show the coming week-end.

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Now, Anubis (my cat) is jealous to see Wendy left her for a huge dog... bear_sad

I was surprised to see how easily Anubis accepted Wendy.

Here too, the weather is cold for the season.

I just posted on my blog photos of some of the beautiful covered passages in Paris.
http://sophiezours.blogspot.com/2010/05 … ris-2.html

In Jouffroy passage, there is a shop of great interest named "Pain d'epices" where we can buy teddy bear making material as well as needle felting material.

It was for me an opportunity to get some safety joints and noses as well as some plastic pellets.

DSC05236_1.JPG

We found some artist teddy bears in another shop : apparently the artist is also working as a framer and she exhibits a sample of her bears in her frame shop window.

In the passage Panoramas, Wendy spotted a fun shop named "Tombees du camion" (fell out the truck) where she bought a pair of doll hands and a pair of doll eyes. To visit the website of that shop go there : http://www.tombeesducamion.com/. They have a bigger shop in another part of Paris, but we had no time to visit it, unfortunately. This is a shame as in that other shop there are vintage teddy bear eyes...

Sophie.

Wendy (Matilda) and I met in Paris on tuesday at lunch time and stayed there up to friday early afternoon.
We had a great time and had a beautiful warm weather. We managed to visit a lot but it was impossible to see all!

I am not sure the photos will give you a real idea of how bigs some of the buildings are in Paris. You might want to see yourselves...

Here on TT, I will post only a few photos, but i will add links to my blog so you can have more to enjoy.

Wendy and I just arrived this afternoon at my home after a few days in Paris. I am pretty tired but SOOOOOOO happy to have MY Wendy there by my side.

I took over 500 photos and to these I will have to add the ones Wendy and my friend Claire took. Claire is living in Paris and was our guide.

We had a wonderful time and are still enjoying ourselves a lot. Just now Wendy is catching up with her emails on Malko's computer. Very convenient to have two computers at home!!!!

We will get photos posted asap, I promise!

Sophie.

A customer ordered me a bear for a very young boy.

I chose with her a couple of extra soft synthetic furs. I could experiment with fluff everywhere with these furs. Oh dear!
Out of that, they were great to work with. Never ever used that soft silky fabrics! So easy to turn after sewing!

My customer saw photos this afternoon and loves him. So I am happy.

Hi Daphne!

Thanks for putting back that tutorial. I saved it on my computer as it will be useful!

Thank you very much for sharing!

Wendy emailed me about the bad news concerning her plan to go to Germany. She is so sad about it. Now we are worrying because she was then supposed to go to Paris to meet me. Still no planes in the French sky, and no idea yet on when they can fly again.
I am trying to comfort myself thinking she was supposed to stay for over two weeks in France at my place, so she might manage to make it even if shortened... But we never know. On the news this evening, they said that the volcano was still very active.

Now, lots of people living near airports are enjoying silent skies. Plus here too the weather is very sunny. It is hard to imagine there is that dust cloud very very high.

In France, there has been a train strike for over one week (lots of disturbances in the train traffic) and with this problem of lack of planes, it is a real big mess.

Let's hope things will get better very soon...

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

DSC06848_1.JPGDSC06845_1.JPGDSC06850_1.JPGStrange as we can remember things.
I remembered I saved on my computer that pattern from Teresa of Sewing Stars when she proposed that mouse challenge in 2006.
http://www.teddy-talk.com/viewtopic.php?id=7041
I said myself I had to give it a try someday.
Never too late!

I wanted to make a special gift for Margaux and Nathan for their respective 2 year and 3 year birthdays. They are my "niece" and "nephew" (right, Malko and I are not married yet by I consider his family as mine).

I chose cotton plush fabrics.
for the ears and tails I used ultra suede.

The one with the pink nose is for Margaux and the other one for Nathan.
They will have their gifts tomorrow afternoon.

I will probably make more mice, but with other materials (non furry ones) when more gifts to offer. Of course I do not aim to sell any...

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

lapousmor

Congratulation!
I hope your two sons make you the happiest mom!

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Thank you very much Denise!
That must be it because when I googled that name, it gave me the appropriate results!!!!!

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Please, I need the English name for the stitch described on that blog page :

http://lemondedejojo.blogspot.com/2008/ … ouvel.html

I know it in French but could not find its English name...

Thanks,
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
