gosh, thanks everyone - and a special thanks to Pat Hage, who pointed out the exisitence of albino squirrels to me when I posted 'Chock Full of Nuts' on here. . .
I did a bit more scultpting on the trunk and moved a few leaves last night & took a few more pics today . .
albino squirrel with oak branch
I really wanted to capture a squirrel perching in a tree, but didn't want to do a huge piece with a heavy base, so I fashioned a 14" 'floating' oak branch instead. constructed of leather over a wire armature (each leaf is wired also), the branch can be posed, viewed from all sides, and also positioned on it's side. the 20 leaves are done with 2 subtle patterns of metallic leopard print leather & 2 shades of gold and brown, each leaf meticulously machine embroidered and top-stitched
the 10" squirrel is constructed from super-dense Kravet upholstery faux fur with a 12" tail done in lush Belgian synthetic. pink leather paw pads and eyelids over antique pink taxidermy eyes, ivory leather claws, 5 disk joints, 8 mechanical joints, magnets in paws (& in one leather acorn) and a full locline spine.
   beautifully, elegantly done    you've been missed

gosh, thanks everyone!
Karen, I always wondered about that feathered fur too, and then I found this photo of a pair of owl chicks and knew I had to try it.
Becca, thanks! and yes, they are still availible. send me an email @ kellydean@kellydeanandcompany.con if you'dlike to talk about them.
Iranian Eagle Owl chicks, that who. .
10" - 14" tall, made of feathered and shaded faux furs with a full spine, disk-tilt heads, wired wings & 4 joints in each leg so they can be posed in true 'upright owl' position and also stand in a perching position. these little guys will put a real smile on your face. . .
   now that's a bear! completely, utterly charming!
   wow! looks like this little beauty is a hot as her creator! good job, sweetie!
Buddie is 18" long, 12" seated & 10" high when standing on all 4's. he's made of vintage shaded synthetic carefully cut to maximize the coloration. 4 disk joints, 12 mechanical joints, full neck and spine. trapunto leather pawpads, leather eyelids, nose and claws. airbrushed details. can is artist made of copper leather with vintage label screened onto silk batiste.
(ps - I liked him so much sitting that I forgot to shoot him on all 4's, but he does stand and pose like my other realistic bears.)
meet Lucia & the jungle fowl chicks (these guys were fun, but a horror to photograph - all the patterns and fabric make for pretty good camoflage.) chicks are 4.5" tall.
and the whole fam-damily - Luigi, Lucia & the chicks
Daphne, I've put the sewing machine needle through my thumb, nail & all - twice, too    both times, the needle broke off - in my thumbnail - and I had to pull it out with a vice-grip pliers. the second time I had to dig around the needle with an exacto knife to secure a grip on the broken needle.
I'm a lot more careful feeding fabric through these days
gosh, thanks everyone! Luigi was a real challenge to work out - I ended up using 12 different furs and 5 types of leather - but I'm the most proud of his wattles. in the past, I cut out leather ovals and placed them suede-side inwards, but for Luigi I made little leather bags and put a bit of glass sand in for weight, so Luigi's wattles wiggle when he walks ;-) and the texture is the same on both sides - ditto the comb.
