How lovely. Sounds like the perfect present for everyone!
Good on ya!!! What ever next year brings, good and bad, its nice to know we can all keep going together.
What a lovely bear. Major well done as I bet it took a lot to do him.
Thanks for posting this as its a very relevent topic in the current climate. I would say go with what feels comfortable with yourself. If I was a loyal collector I'd be thrilled at your 'thank you', I don't think it would undermine your work or prices. As long as you advertise it as a thank you, one off, thanks for a fabulous year, kind of thing, I'm sure it would be OK.
Love the bear. Hope things go well next time, at least you now know to link off your about me page. Thats what I do after hearing about pulled listings. Worse still, its the 'people' that report you. Hmmm...me thinks get a life 'people!' Good luck!
Well done. I hope you get your mojo back soon!
This stinks, I hope you can find a way around it, official or......not official. Just lately I've been buying a few items of clothing for my holiday. I had good service for my items etc so knew to tick all the stars. Even when postage was a bit over. Reason being the price was good altogether for the jacket, the seller makes it on the postage, ebay loses out on fees as item price was lower. Now I know they want to crack down on this but every little man for himself on ebay, to ebay.
I charge what the posatge is too whn selling bears, I can't help it that Royal Mail charge x amount, thats what I have to charge. Its such a shame, hopefully collectors will realise how it all works.
I'll go for this too. Mine is a 40 year old panda I had for my first Christmas. Well nearly forty , so it would be nice to make a miniature version or something like my but with the look of my old panda. Lovely challenge.
Hi Clare. Special project, sounds interesting! Do you have an http://www.abakhan.co.uk/ shop near you? They do all sorts of fabric but I have seen this type in there. We have one near to us. I could always check it out for you.
Ahhh! I have been stung twice too. Once for fabric and years ago for my wedding album! We got married in Vegas and they made the photo albums up after we left. I'm not 100% sure but they may be putting the customs limit up at the end of the year, to £100, I think this would really help. Its not been raised for years. Its around £18 at the moment, utter rubbish. Then if you do get caught out they charge tax on the postage as well!
I'm so glad you feel better. Emails? Thats terrible. I hope this person can see they were coming from a very wrong place, and be big enough to realise they got it all wrong.
Hope they listen.....
Anyway, try this link, its a useful one but only features bears with bids on
Sorry, I could be nice and say everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I won't be ....this made me a little mad! Laughing at us? I feel more insulted that someone could have thought that about Jane, really, that does make me feel bad. They are great fun. So....if it featured you and you feel slighted, fair enough, but don't knock Jane if you were'nt in the pictures, in fact, its nothing to do with you.
I've been in them by the way, great fun and an honour!!!!
Hiya Deb! Funny when I saw this thread from away back. Looking back it was when I was....hmmm.....at sorts, so to speak. I kind of fell into miniatures and even now don't think of myself as a miniature bearmaker. But, I am, because thats what I make!!! I do think you are right though, but its the loyal collectors that keep me going.
Lovely to see you on here, a true friend of mini bearmakers. Your books are in my local library, fantastic.
Yay!!!! You've done a great job. Many, many thanks. Its so nice to see all the different styles.
This is terrible. I used to have a menswear shop and we got ramraided (car through window) a few times but its nothing like this, your own home. So sorry.
Well done everyone!!!!
What a lovely little pony. Its so different too. Worth the agro!
Thats so brilliant. I bet you are over the moon!
I'm not usually a newborn baby person but look at that skin, just perfection. She looks a really gorgeous baby.
Well done! We all start somewhere and I found working down size wise helped. Saying that my heads are big What stuffing do you use? I use kapok and that seems good to use. As my heads are a 4 piece pattern I seem to just cup them in my hand. I do put steel shot in the heads too, so that helps with the weight and feel when stuffing.
Its all a learning curve and I must say when I restarted making miniatures after a years break it felt as if my fingers had gone bigger, it really felt odd and like hard work. I think time and plenty of sewing really helps. You'll get there, just keep going down one size at a time.
Thanks, bears and teddies must mean something else in some circles.
Thanks to Sandi for pointing out a way of changing my www. for the freewebs, it works and looks loads better. Its now www.pandypotter.webs.com
A good alternative, I'll think I'll keep to that!
Hi everyone. Sandi (thanks Sandi ) bought it to my attention that the Google adverts on my site had one for Gay daddy bear dating. Well each to his own, but I don't think anyone who goes to my site would be interested, but it does'nt look good! Anyway I have sorted the adverts out but may be interested in domain registering. I use freewebs but is it cheaper to register somewhere else?
I googled register domain names and wow there are loads. Any suggestions where to register?
I think you have done brilliant!
Lovely to see the pandas! Such fun. Heres mine, Arnold. He is just under 5" and as you can see next to my normal size he is much bigger. He was a brand new pattern, and I was glad it worked out, as just enough material to get it 'hopefully' right first time.
